(2) Most of this is common sense, but I've learned not to assume anything. 1. Keep all posts PG-13. This applies to both content and language. 2. Please keep all posts on here storyline related. 3. I love everyone's sigs, but please try to remember not to attach them on this forum, as they will fill up our pages fast. 4. Decorative Forum bubble designs are reserved for the GM, please do not use them in your posts. 5. Above mentioned Decorative Bubbles will represent GM added storyline posts. 6. All GM Storyline posts will have the name of the character or characters being addressed in that portion of the story, at the top of the post. If all players are being addressed at once, will be used instead of a name.
7. Cloud Forum bubble designs will be used to represent Out of Storyline actions or statements that are relevent to the thread, typically GM explanations of new additions or Features

Character Creation Rules
1. Avi's are nice but not a requirement. If you don't use one as a character portrait, then it is assumed that your avatar is representative of your character.
2. Unless you offer a different name for your character, your Gaia name will be your character name.
3. Remember, this is Fantasy based, so there are no big guns or cars, etc., unless you can offer a reasonable fantasy based, (aka magical) reason for their existence.
4. Class or Job selections should also be Fantasy based as well as race.
5. Since this is my first try at this, I am asking that everyone play good aligned characters. This means no "Lord of all Evil" and such. lol
6. Please place your character sheet posts in the new "Character Sheet" forum topic that Umberhulk was so clever as to create for us.

Opening Story.
Hanging on the wall in front of you, you see this unusual announcement. Curious, you take it off of the wall and examine it more closely. There is a strange feel about the paper. You suspect it is magical in nature.
Attention!
All of heroic heart, All seeking fame and glory!
Your time is now, Your dreams can come true!
Heroes I call to you, to prove yourself worthy!
Only the brave can succeed. Only the strong can survive.
If you believe you are both, Come to the Testing Grounds
And prove yourself!
Simply say "Take me to the Testing Grounds" and your test
will begin.

The words "Take me to the Testing Grounds" glow softly as you read them, at first to yourself. You are hesitant, but your curiosity just won't let you ignore it. You speak the words out loud, "Take me to the Testing Grounds." As you do, the letters of that statement rise off the page, glowing a bright gold and start spinning around you. The world around you blurs from your vision replaced by spinning golden energy. You here a soft feminine voice, "Name yourself Hero, so that I may record you in the ledgers of the legends to be."

*Appearance: Blacksmith with strange choice in leathers..
*Bio: I learned a fascination with the local gossips of treasure and adventure, so I found myself traveling into the wildes looking for a chest contained on a map I received from the local black market. lo and behold, I quickly became ensnared on the passion of finding hidden treasures.
*Special: He has a twitch in his left eye that gets worse when he lies. Passions for halfling foods have led to the occassional drunkeness upon the goblet of elven wine. No enemies as yet, for he rarely has attacked the pined grave of a recent living man.

Lawrence finished reading the scroll as the glow of the words penetrated his mind and sight. The tones of gold settled down in hazes of blues and greens. he could feel a chill running over his face from the wet salty air of the nearby sea. He was standing in front of what appeared to be a large arena, as round and large as five jousting fields! What a remarkable sight to lay eyes on ! The very pillars and stonework were of pure marble, with large ebony statues of great heroes and fabulous warriors of various species.
"Maybe I'm getting in over my head.", he thought sternly to himself. "What's this? A booth with soldiers standing at each side. That MUST be the place I'm s'posed to sign in at.." He continued to the booth when he ran into......

...an oddly out of place young lady. "Oh!" she exclaimed. " Excuse me! I didn't expect anybody to get here so quickly!"
Lawrence turned to see who he had stumbled into. The lady who's voice he recognized from his experience with the scroll, was definitely out of place in an arena such as this.
"I can tell by the look on your face, that you're rather confused. Let me introduce myself." She curtsied politely. "I am Aixabengali. I am your guide here at the Testing Grounds. It is up to me to get you up to speed and ready for your future as an adventurer, a path you clearly chose, or you wouldn't be here. During your training...err...um testing, I will be here, sometimes seen, other times unseen, to observe, work on and personalize your experience. I will be doing the same for other adventurers that decide to join the Test. I have many of my invitations spread throughout the realm."
"But, you brave soul are the first to arrive. So I will let you get to your registration at the booth, while I touch things up for our next arrivals." She smiled brightly at him, then disappeared in a swirl of golden energy, much like the one that brought him here.

He stepped up to the booth and looked curiously at a spindly old man wearing a bardic tunic and vest. His eyes were narrowed and fixed on Lawrence's apparel. "Not much for fighting are you?", asked the old man while spinning a small token between the knuckles of his fingers. Lawrence thought about this for a moment and realized that his experiences had been wrestling a shovel out of a hole, or swatting down swarms of fuming insects over an old corpse. "Really, I guess not. Does this mean I can't enter?" The twisted nose of the wrinkled and garlic ridden man turned a quarter to the right and looked off into the distance of the arena,"...actually it means that you will be tested harder, and in other ways that you have never thought of. You see these testing grounds are full of magical and holy powers. They become whatever is necessary to accomplish the higher power's wishes. You were destined to come here, and now you must pass the first test." He reached out with a golden orb surrounded in bands of diamonds, as Lawrence touched it he...

..felt a tingle of energy run up his arm. Surprised and excited, he turned to the withered old man, full of questions.
The old man smiled. "Take it. It is now yours. Nobody can take it from you, except for yourself. You have passed your first test." He pushed the golden orb into Lawrence's hand.
"Wha...? That was it?." If this is all I have to do to get through this, then...
"The first test may seem incredibly easy to you. But those without an adventurous soul, cannot even bear to touch a Legend Orb." The old man said sternly.
"Now, take care of your orb and it will take care of you in ways you will not always know or understand. As you progress through your tests, it will change in appearance and nature, even as you will within. Your orb is a reflection of who you are and who you can become. Each one is unique and different. It is also through your orb that you will receive invitations to new experiences and special rewards or punishments during your testing."
"Oh, good! See, it has already changed! I believe you will do well here." He nodded his head encouragingly
Lawrence looked down at his orb. It was no longer diamond covered. Instead it was a small golden globe, with with an intricate map inscribed around it. His heart jumped, as he realized that it was clearly a treasure map, with a tiny flashing dot on it.

Aixabengali steps up to the confused young man, that appeared to be a water elementalist of sorts. "It seems that you are lost young man."
He hadn't arrived via one of her invitaions, that was clear. Which meant, he must have stumbled through the magical veil she had set up around the testing grounds. It wasn't unheard of, but could be problematic, if she didn't act now.
"Welcome to the Testing Grounds, a place where new heroes are given the opportunity to hone their skills and take their first steps into the ranks of legends. I can see that you are intrigued by what you see and have many questions."
"The testing grounds adapt to the needs of the occupants. Which means, that there will be combat for those who wish to hone those skills. For those who have no interest in that, we will test them in different manners, depending on the individual."
"If you are interested in participating, you are more than welcome. All I ask is that you go over to that booth with the young man holding the orb, in front of it. There you can register and submit your information. We can not fully make you a part of the fun until you have submitted your character sheet form."
