Radical apathy

A society of slaves who just complain
All day and night about the world
But don’t believe they have the power
To change a damn thing about it.

That’s all you are, a mass of thralls
Who scream about how unfair
The world has become, while you sit
On your a** doing nothing to change it.

You sicken me, you lesser filth
Who crawl in the dirt like swine repress
Not caring, not even conscious
Of the power you could still possess

This epidemic apathy
That sweeps across the god damned land
Of people who will scream for peace
But will not rise and take a stand

Diseased, our nation rots unchecked
No one will act to end the pain
They all look on while stricken down
“So much to lose, so little gain”

“Never been done, never will be”
These words defeat the first attempt
And apathy still rules the minds
Of those who watch with cold contempt

Those who don’t rise to some true cause
Who do not care, or fight, or try
Will be forgot by history
And at their graves no children cry

For fallen men and women who
Won rights that they enjoy each day
So friends, when they remember you
I ask, what would you have them say?

Here lies a man who did not rise
Who fought no fight to win the right
To be, because he did not care
And so his grave is far from sight

There hidden from the view of men
Just as he lived his sorry life
He closed his eyes to others pain
And did nothing to ease their strife.
