EarthBound(Known as Mother 2 in japan)
SummarySequel to the Japan-only Famicom's "Mother" and prequel to Gameboy Advance's "Mother 3", this game is one classic you wont want to put down. The game stars everyone's most questioned Super Smash Bros. brawler, Ness! It's about four kids (Ness, Paula, Jeff, Poo) with special powers called "PSI" (PK in Japan) in present-day Eagleland who join together in order to take down the evil force of GIYGAS and his army of Starmen who got almost everyone --(and every
thing) mind controlled only to get you! They go to the ends of the earth in all these crazy yet hilarious conflicts to record musical melodies from "Your Sanctuary" spots with the magical "Sound Stone" given by Buzz Buzz at the beginning of the story. But this is a RPG like no other. While all other RPGs were in midievil times with knights, goblins, and dragons, this one was right here in present times (199X to be exact). It replaced old-fashioned swords-and-sheilds with Baseball Bats, Frying Pans, Yo-Yos, Sling Shots, Toy Guns, and anything these kids could get there hands on to save the world.

Story of a GameEarthbound (Mother 2) suffered from lackluster sales because of not-so-great advertisement (even though there was lots of it!) and because of its release date. People thaught the graphics looks that of a NES game and didn't bother to look into it. (But if it was released the year it was made -the year before- I bet it could of done alot better). Everyone who did infact played it, loved it. Earthbound fans are really solid.. A website called starmen.net made a petition for Mother 3 and raised over 30,000 signatures and sent that to Nintendo.. and even as we speak these people are bombarding Nintendo in a Siege to make "Mother" become an American franchise.. But thats a different story.

ReviewGameplayGameplay is pretty smooth in Earthbound. You just got to watch out for those pesky mushrooms that grow on your head. It was one of the few games that you could walk in 8-directions instead of 4. Although to a few people it seems slow but you can eventually get a bike and teleport. The battles are turn based (..and funky) like all RPGs of that day, but the damage system was a little different. It used a scrolling system that when you take damage, your HP would decrease 1 at a time till it reached the desinated point, giving you time to heal yourself if you were ever to die. And what would replace your mana or magic or MP or whatever in this game was PSI. PSI is special Phsycic powers that work pretty much the same way as the listed powers last sentence.

SoundThe music in this game actually ranges and covers just about every genre of music, someway or another. From Rock to Jazz, Funk, Metal, Classic, you name it! Well, to tell you the truth, it's not hardcore music for your average hardcore music fans or anything, but you got to admit, all you heavy metal whorshippers will find themselves tapping there foot to a funky New Wave battle music. The music is actually different for each type of enemy, house, and town! Also the sound FXs are alright. Some of them are just old "beeps and boops" but what can we expect? Although there is a large selection of them, so thats pretty nice.

GraphicsThe graphics in this game are pretty basic SNES. Like I said earlier, it didn't do so well because of graphics and my only reason is because of it's release date. However in this game I feel that the great story makes up for its graphics. And As what me and Nintendo lives by.. Gameplay is way more important than graphics anyday!

ReplayabilityAfter you beat the game, you can actually talk to all of the friends you made along the way and see what they are doing with there life. I'm not going to reveal anymore *wink*.
