The Aldrains is the desert lands east from Firebrand, and almost directly north of the Library. It is a barren wasteland, for the most part, but the occasional oasis thrives with life and energy. The Aldranites are peaceful and welcoming people, more than happy to offer you a trade and a place to stay. Traveling through the streets of Dunadain, a traveler will often hear music and witness dancing. Sometimes, they may even get pulled into a city celebration if they don't watch where they tread. However, when faced with battle, the people are fierce and fight on till the end. They will do anything to protect their mother, Dunaldra.

Civilization After 50 Years
Aldrains: The Aldranites, who come from the desert lands known as the Aldrains, are commonly tall, dark skinned men and women who originated under the guidance of Dunaldra. They are not a very technologically advanced race, and they depend most on the agriculture and hunting to survive on the desert dunes. Their homes consist of sand and a hard lasting clay, and the homes even reach three or four stories. The main capital, named Dunadain, is located on a big oasis, probably the biggest one in the Aldrains. The people all began there, but due a big increase of births after the first ten years, the settlers have created camps within the desert. Even though they are settled on an oasis, the Aldranites know how to create wells for gathering water to water the plants and such.

Dunadain is, obviously, the most populated part of Aldrain. It is in Dunadain where the production of their exotic fruits is centered, which is also their cash crop. There, with the help of teaching, they have learned how to color their clothes in bright and golden colors, which is also a big trading item. When they recieve any shipments of gold or silver, fine jewelry is made, but it is a rare find for such an early civilization. There is much to see there, including a beautiful garden (with the help of Mythee), and the oasis itself. However, the one thing that stands out is the temple like structure that was erected in honor of their 'True Mother', Dunaldra.

Culture: The Aldranites are a rather peaceful group of people, though they are always welcome to travelers and traders. Though men and women have equal rights, women tend to take up important positions around the cities. They are not very battle oriented, though there are women, and some men, who are trained specifically to defend the people in case anyone tries to invade. They specialize in farming and trading, so often you will see caravans traveling in and out of Dunadain. Since they are peaceful and simple people, they also enjoy small pleasures such as music, dancing, and drinking. Often, travelers will find themselves caught inbetween people celebrating and forced to join in their festivities. There are some scholars and intellectuals in Aldrian, though they mostly immigrated from other lands.

Technology: As stated above, Aldranites are not a very technologically advanced race. Though their houses work wonderfully against passing sandstorms, they tend to absorb the heat and cold, making living inside them rather difficult. They have not harvested many metals besides the passing gold or silver, so light is produced by candles/fires and communication is produced through letters or a passing merchant. There are no guns, only swords and spears and any other spare weaponry they can either trade for or create themselves.

Ideology: The Aldranites believe that Dunaldra is their True Mother, the Goddess of the desert. They do not have particular rituals that they undergo, but they have a big celebration every year called the 'Day of Birth', which is the day of the founding of their nation. The people built a temple, or more appropriately, a palace, in honor for Dunaldra to which she still lives in. The original settlers have died, but the stories that they told their children still live on and continue to spread throughout the city of Dunadain.

Chapter 2: 50 Years Later

After such a long time, Dunaldra awoke in a cold sweat. Nightmares again, terrible dreams of what occured fifty years ago in front of the library. It was not like they plauged her every night, but once in awhile she found she feared to go back to sleep. Perhaps it was because the creature was still a mystery to her. So many years had passed in Aldrain and still she had not returned to the library. Was it fear of what happened, or fear of what she might discover about the creature? Nevertheless, Duna still did not understand how the Craftsman could let such a creature kill another exile. Once she had gotten close to asking him, but instead she asked him to create for her a sword. A beautiful curved silver blade that almost seemed to shine in the sunlight. It was also the blade that rested at the side of her bed as she sat up, rubbing her eyes as if it was her attempt to rub away the memories.

Not that her personality had changed, far from it. Dunaldra was still the kind, active mother to her people as she was even before she witnessed the monster. Her people were still unaware of it's exsistance, only that there were dangerous creatures in the world that could kill you without even trying. Still, she feared that they would catch on to how she often acted happy when a lot was on her mind. If they did not know, it was good, but if they did, they were not letting onto what they know.

The sand maiden stretched out her arms as she got out of her bed, slipping on her shoes and strapping her blade to her waist. She looked out of her window and out into the town of Dunadain. The sun had not risen yet, but she could see a twinge of orange in the horizon. She knew that the farmers were getting up and preparing to tend to their crops. The venders, however, were still fast asleep and not going to wake up until the sun finally rises. Walking over to the ladder in her room, Dunaldra climbed up to the roof so that she may sit there and observe her people at work. She knew sooner or later she would be called down for something, but as long as she could she just wanted to relax.

Dunaldra let out a yawn as she watched the sun rise up, almost blinding her with it's rays while warming her at the same time. She could hear whispers and yawns nearby, following by the rustling of bed clothes and the beginning of early morning activities. Dunadain was finally coming to life, and another day was soon to pass just like every other day. However, the proposition of a sandstorm came to mind, for it had been a week since their last one. No matter, the people knew exactly what to do when the lookout spotted it in the horison. Close up shop and run inside, sitting there until it finally passed. Even though it took away a day of work, not to mention possibly weaking the walls on a few of their houses, it had become routine for the desert tribe.

With yet another yawn, Dunaldra leaned back and layed down on the desert rooftop. Yes, it seemed like the Aldrains were developing decently the last fifty years. So, they did not have many luxuries and their houses could be improved, but it was not the end of the world. After all, none of the other Exiles had progressed much further than she had. She had heard rumurs that Dessande had already built ships, but his people lived on groups of islands. They needed the ships to get from one part to another. Other than that, her close friends had not progressed too much farther either. So, she had no major concerns on her mind as she layed there in the sun.

That was, until, her thoughts lingered back to the strange monster. Why did it exsist? Why did the Craftsman create such a horrid creature? How could he let it roam around and kill other exiles? The one that she witnessed was not the only death as she gathered later. Blood stains were found in the Library, and a race was wandering the lands to avenge their fallen leader. What was it's true purpose in the world? So many questions on her mind, and she greatly desired much answers. "Perhaps, I should go to the Library." Dunaldra muttered to herself as she closed her eyes, greatly considering what it would lead to.

Her thoughts were interuppted, thought, when she heard the sounds of steps coming up the stairs. Dunaldra did not even bother openning her eyes as the person said, "There you are, Mother! It's dawn and you're not even down yet!" With a sigh, the silver haired woman sat up and turned to look at the person who spoke. It was a young woman, her skin tanned though not as dark as her own. She had dark hair which she tied up, and gray eyes that gleemed in annoyance. She got that same look from her grandmother, who was none other than the little girl Carina, who passed on her personality through the generations.

"Good morning, Katya." Dunaldra responded, giving her an innocent smile in response. "I seem to have lost track of time. However, I hate to tell you this now, but I have somewhere I must run off to today."

"Again? Mother, you always run off at the last minute, half the time not even telling me where you're going or what you're going to do!" Katya responded with a sigh, placing her hands on her hips and looking away. She could not help but smirk at the child. It was always fun to pester her and make her fluster. "Well, I can't argue with you, can I? Sometimes I wonder where your priorities lie."

"In my people, of course! Don't worry, I'm going to do something for your own benefit. You may not realize it, but it's the truth. Tell everyone for me, alright?"

"What else am I here for, Mother?" The girl responded, flashing her a smile for the first time that day.

"Good luck then, my child!" Dunaldra responded. With that, she changed into her avion form and took off into the sky, heading for the southern pole where the Library awaited her.

The trip back to the Dunadain would not have taken as long as it did if there was not so much on her mind. Dunaldra had not expected to hear so much just when all she wanted to know the creature that had killed the Exile in the past. Now, she felt like her quest for answers only led her to more questions; questions she did not want to have to ask. Even ones so simple as would she be able to face the Craftsman after this? Did she have a choice? It was overwhelming how much negative effect the trip had on her.

Dunaldra did not realize when Dunadain came into view, and she barely saw it when she fly above it. Even though a part of her was glad to be home, another dreaded trying to act as if everything was alright. Last time, it was hard enough, but now she felt as if her mind would burst with all that was shown to her. Could it really go by unnoticed how disturbed she was?

With a sigh, she soon floated down and landed on top of her own home, transforming while she was still midair and landing on her own feet. However, she felt that she could not even stand and so let herself fall into a sitting position. Then, she lifted her hands and placed them over her face. What was she to do now? She could not keep this to herself, but who could she trust to understand her words? Or rather, was she willing to burden someone else with what she witnessed?
