Welcome to my poetry contest!!
About: In this contest, you will be given two or three pictures to choose from, and then you must write a poem about that picture. It does not have to deal directly with what is shown, but I have to be able to tell which picture you've chosen by your work!! If you wish to use more than one picture in your poem, that is fine.
Deadline: All entries must be posted by August 31, at 11:00 PM Central time. If you post anything after that, then I cannot accept it. I may be a bit late closing it, but I will not be early!!
Prizes: 1st place will get 600 gold, 2nd place will get 400 gold, and 3rd place will get 250 gold. If I do Honorable mention, they will receive 50 gold. If we do not get more than 7 contestants, I may not give out three places...I'll stick to one or two. If there are a lot of entries, or if I get donations, the prizes will go up.
To enter: The entry fee is 50 gold (since I'm usually broke) so you need to send me a trade clearly stating that it's for the contest! I don't want there to be any confusion on this!! Then, PM a copy of your poem to me, with a note about which picture you have chosen. Lastly, post your poem here!
EDIT: If you submit two poems, you must pay the entry fee for each poem. Sorry for the confusion!!
Rules: I am not going to post a length requirement, so you can do anything from a haiku to a saga, as long as it has to do with one of the pictures in the next post!! All works sumbitted need to be PMed to me and posted here, so I don't miss anyone! Also, follow Annetia's rules about swearing and whatnot, you guys know the drill!
I will allow two entries per person, and you cannot do the same picture twice.

Good luck!!!

These are the pictures you are to base your poem(s) on. Feel free to be creative, I love being surprised!! As long as it's vaguely connected to the picture, I'll probably accept it. Just make sure I can tell which picture you're talking about! xd

The Church
The night was a cold one as I walked the middle of my corn field. The bitter wind washed threw me but I couldn’t sleep- so here I was Taking another pointless walk- in the middle of the dry parched earth- Where a blanket of snow laid on the ground covering it in an eerie picture that plaid tricks.
Down the ways a little more My feet did travel the well worn road. An old church sat in the distance since My house was the last. (In the town)
It was abandoned and old A sad little thing. My ma always said- They should tear the thing down- and ask for grace.
Deciding to finish the God forsaken path And making it up to the church- She had no reason to Accept for her soul lead her to.
Making it to the barren- old worn out door, Telia pushed it open with a grunt and coughed As dust flew up. Looking ahead her eyes grew big for she saw a ghastly site!
“My word!” Telia screamed as threw her hands up in fright! There on the alter stood an angel dressed in black and white. Her wings dwarfed the tiny old church and actually broke out of the wholes on the top- where a tornado had broken threw.
“Why are you here on such a cold night?” The angel said in a voice so very still. “I couldn’t sleep.” I said for no real reason. “I know that. You called me here.”
We sat and talked for about an hour’s drawl. When finally the wind picked up and she was gone. Candles were there in her place- So I picked them up and ran at a very fast pace.
Upon coming back to my humble home- My body fell on the floor. The candles rolled from my hands and upon awakening the next morning- My only proof was gone.
What was the lady in black that had spoken to me that night? I really didn’t know. It was like something out of a story book- That I wasn’t supposed to know. By Nichole B.
2nd Place: icepriestess375
~Untitled, by Ice~ The color red as deep as a sea will fill the gap between you and me I can't always say what i want to My words come out fuzzy when I'm around you I can't always have you and it'd be selfish of me to take you all of the time for you to be mine I know you won't see this and I'll never know what you think of me now or what affections you'd show Nothing but avis and texts to be shown but whenever we're here I'm never alone I think that its sad that no one will know how i can write this and it never be shown I want you to know that this is for you from the girl that you almost could never have knew If we hadn't talked that one simple time we'd never had met and there'd be no rhyme So far away and barely awake we'll see each other or goodness sake, my heart might ache....
3rd Place:Slumbersome
Kitty
When she lounges her legs and arms stretch out all length and no substance blinking sleep from eyes bromothymol blue. Trailing whoever leaves their door ajar I guess you could say she is faithful in her own careless, slovenly way slipping in and out as she pleases at whatever hour suits her best. She has no thoughts for me though she may wear my ring. One day out the door and never back.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!!! Just as a note to the winners...my trading screen is messed up, so I'll have to send you your winnings later...SORRY! I'm good for them, I promise!! 3nodding

Pieces of Heaven
They say they are selling pieces of heaven I wonder how they can They say that heaven has broken down Should I believe it They say this will change me forever I have decided, reaching for the phone They say they are selling pieces of heaven I hope an Angel will be shipped to my home
