Patron Exile: Mythee
(Capital: Amalthea (the only village right now) Population: 249) Heavily forested mostly by evergreens, with a variety of hills and cliff-edged mountains. There are numerous clearings where wild animals graze and pure water lakes both big and small. The winters are harsh, the springs fresh and the summers warm. The forest is run through by many streams deriving from rivers, and the soil is rich. Fruit trees are uncommon in the wild, but they have been brought in from trade and grow well in gardens. The flora is beautiful and fresh, consisting mostly of small elegant flowers, but obviously there is nothing tropical about Heimdall- so the colors are mostly soft pastel and the plants do not grow to a huge size. As for fauna, bovines are common- mountain goats in the cliffs, bison, foxes, wolves, a number of great and dangerous wild cats, large birds of prey like owls and eagles, a great number of songbirds, and so on in the mountains and forests. Heimdall provides much- fresh water, an abundance of wood, clay, bronze, iron, and the rest. Unfortunately, it does not provide enough food for long winters, so this has to be traded for.
Heimans: Most Heimans are tall and strongly built, resistant to harsh winters and with powerful bodies who can withstand hard climate and labor. They have facial and physical features resembling north europians, or norwegians to be more precise, and their hair colors are varied, but mostly in the light category. (Many shades of blonde, sometimes golden, sometimes nearly white. Brown hair is not uncommon, and can even be darker hued, but there are no black-haired Heimans.) Their eye colors are surprisingly different than what you would expect- ranging from olive (the darkest) and light green to piercing yellow and gold. They are a highly athletic, healthy people- not to mention extremely fertile, with an average of six children per woman of breeding age. The women and elderly can and will fight alongside the men when the time comes, so they are constantly active throughout their entire life.
Technology: Like Toucan, Mythee did not really wait for the Heimans to create their own technology, but unlike Toucan she is not an expert in the field of mechanics, so no complex machinery. However, she is quite intelligent, and has not lost whatever concepts she truly understood before. So simpler concepts like fireplaces, levers, pulleys, irrigation et caetera have been applied, and currently she and her people are working on developing plumbing. Plates, bowls, cups, pots, and other ustensils are either made of clay or skillfully and beautifully carved and polished wood. Houses, either made of thick wooden trunks or large stones held together with clay fare well against the elements. As for weapons, Mythee had brought a blade and armor with her along with memories of steeds, so her people have armed cavalry with armor modelled after Mythee’s own, and have swords, spears, lances and axes as their main weapons. They don’t need to expect any attacks in this era, but the excellently trained armed cavalry, the castle-fortress and the mere number of people guarantees that whoever travels by sea to them, already weakened and tired, stands no chance. They have not developed the catapult yet, preferring to concentrate on the development of plumbing, safer mining and the harvesting of more of the high-quality, extra-durable Heiman lumber for trade.
Culture: They believe in no gods, but they believe in heroes. Their culture is based upon strong values of honor, equality and order. The children are raised carefully and with love, so that troublemakers are rare. Nobody lacks anything and everyone has a profession. Those who are untalented in anything either receive the knowledge to teach others, or work as the highly rewarded- and regarded- miners, so everyone has merits and self-esteem is high, making the Heimans a proud and amiable race. Discipline is upheld fantastically, and the Heimans work well together for the common good- they are like one big family (with certain friendly rivalries). Those who stray from the path of honor because of jealousy or other inevitable human fallacies are invited to the castle, where specially trained aides and sometimes Mythee counsel them personally until they are ready to take place in normal society once again- one of Mythee’s numerous sayings is “One works best when they want to work.” So those who are counselled are basically helped in finding what they want, and taught how to get it without destroying themselves. (Fortunately, thus far, there have really been no problems. Everyone gets along and is extremely productive~)
Government: There are two administrative meetings: the Grand Forum, which is held nearly once weekly unless the situation calls for more frequent meetings, and the Administrative Counsil, which is always held at some time during the few days after the Grand Forum. The Grand Forum could be attended to by all, even children- it is where suggestions were made, questions were asked, and so on. Not a voice would be unheard. When too many citizens wanted to attend, there would be another Grand Forum the next day. The Administrative Counsil representatives, who were given their positions by vote, always had to attend- and would later discuss and make the decisions in the Administrative Counsil, even in Mythee’s absence.
Mythee’s role: Regarded as a leader and a comrade to the people, Mythee is inevitably respected more than the average person for her powers, but is accepted as a friend by all. She guards her people carefully and tends to them constantly, helping with menial household tasks, helping raise the children, teaching swordsmanship to the young men and occasional women, attending classes with students, taking part in the Grand Forum whenever she has the time, travelling with the Heiman merchants- she is kept constantly busy that way, and there is not one house she hasn’t stayed in more than once. No Heiman would ever think of betraying her.
