Weapon Art: BRX-178G Repeating Beam Rifle
This is the model BRX-178G Repeating Beam Rifle. The lever-action design is reminiscent of the old western Winchester rifles. It's mechanism is simple: after being loaded with a 10 shot, high-energy battery shell, the lever is cocked and the rifle is ready to fire once. c**k the lever again, and you can fire another round, and so on. While the technique may be a bit crude for such a high-tech design, portable beam weapons were still in their prototype phase.
This design was made in limited production, then discarded for the more efficient "XBR-180A" long-range rifle. However, the few BRX type models still in existence were assigned to special forces and sniper squadrons, as the mounted scope that was standard for the design was very versatile. It included 8x, 16x, 32x, and 64x zoom, along with night vision,
FLIR, and thermal imaging.
One of these weapons made it into the hands of the Ka'atori bounty hunter, Asterisk, and remains his weapon of choice.
