I know this guild is kinda dead. Which sucks cause I really want to talk to people about the book. But still, can't hurt to try.

What would you do in a class one outbreak? Don't get all drastic on me and say something like "Go to a prison!" cause chances are the outbreak will stop at class one (hopefully). But honestly, what would you do? Barricade the doors? Get to a safer place in case you live somewhere really exposed? Talk to me.

Me? I would grab supplies and get on the roof. Not the smartest idea out there but it would do for class one. Wish I could get on the attic but its lined with fiberglass to keep the heat in. There’s no way up on the roof once the ladder is pulled up so I’d be safe, but probably not in a class 2.

Now, your turn. What would you do?

in any outbreak period, i would simply keep a low profile and barricade whereever i am, and wait for news. should it look like its getting worse, i would prepare for travel.

Sit on the roof, make lots of noise, and shoot or throw what ever we have (nothing too destructive such as molotovs). I wouldn't alert the authorities unless the situation went out of control, the police may become infected and pass the infection on. If i did alert them I would say that there was crazed people running around biting people, and that they seemed to be terribly diseased.

Oooh, your right, calling the police would be bad. They wouldn't understand and just try to restrain and not kill.
Sitting on the roof was my idea! I'm glad that it's good cause I don't think I could go anywhere else.
But why attract them to you? So other people can get out? If so, wow that's brave.

If I'm on the roof what can the the zombies do? I would be safe from harm, and would also be a distraction. It wouldn't take long to dispatch all the zombies from the roof, or for help to arrive. The only flaw would be if it were in the country and there was no one to help out. Or if ir became a class 3 or 4 and the house eventually crumbled from the masses of undead.

So say, help never did come and the zombies just keep coming. You've shot a good number but the amount of ammo you have won't kill them all before it runs out. How do you escape?

well seeing as it was a class one when I got onto the roof the staircase would not have been destroyed, so there would most likely be zombies throughout the house because I attracted them. In case this situation were ever to occur I would bring a few tools onto the roof before starting all the ruckus. I would then proceed to use the tools to cut enough of the roof off so that it could span the gap between my house and the next. After the roof/bridge is cut i would position it to span between the two houses. It Should support and conceal my party crossing one at a time, crawling on their stomachs. This would be done to 3 - 5 houses. Once all the 'bridges' are made my team will start making a whole lot of noise at one end of the house/bridges chain, and the zombies will move to that house. Then one by one the team will crawl unseen across the bridges to the end of the bridge/house chain. Then while the zombies are still distracted climb off the house and make some sort of escape.

Class One isn't a worry for me at all. The odds of a Class One getting out of hand too quickly are very slim for MOST places. Unfortunately, where I live (Boston, where you don't know who's touching your a** 90% of the time you're in a public place because you're packed like a sardine), a Class One could turn into a Class 3 or 4 within an hour.

If I was at home in the suburbs when a Class One broke out...

1. Lock my doors. Simple and very easy step. I wouldn't unlock those doors unless I knew it was safe.

2. I wouldn't go so far as boarding up my windows and doors yet, but probably barricading them or even taping up construction paper so the house looks dark seems reasonable.

3. Block the stairways. Just tossing cardboard boxes and dinky lawn chairs to pile up at the bottom works well enough, especially with 3 staircases, it'll be half a day before one of them manages to climb up.

4. If I wasn't prepared for travel before, I'd start preparing now. Pack a bag with nonperishables, matches, a few lighters, rope (you never know when you're going to need it), a pocket knife, a larger weapon, and warmer clothing.

5. Call the police and warn them. I'd tell them to put on full SWAT gear for protection, and if someone is acting like they're deaf and they're attacking people to kill on sight. Most likely, they'll consider it a prank, but it was worth a shot. Also, I'd call up the members of my team and loved ones to tell them what's going on and what to look out for.

6. Turn on the TV and keep an ear out for news.

7. Watch them. If they're the fast zombies, I'd probably get their attention from my roof (nigh impossible to get to). If they're the typical slow "braiiins" kind, then I'd get their attention from my porch. I'd do something that would attract most (if not all) of them to my front door in a way that wouldn't attract the police--so no Roman Candles or firing off a gun.

8. At this point, other members of my team should be nearby and taking out the strays. There are a few zombie killers in my town and a bunch in surrounding towns that woudl definitely be taking out tons of them.

tldr; be the bait.

Barricade.
Re check the arms.
Send the word out.
Pray.
Have a set of cyanide ready.

I live in italy, the roads are narrow so funneling is easy, but it's also a maze. A class one could easily escalate to a class two.

Luckily i live in government parco housing so there's plenty of safeness in there. The area has about a two foot concrete wall base, with ten foot tall fence, not chain link like company corporate building stuff, where it's angeled at the top. I wouldn't consider taking to much action, however people in my parco are idiots and leave the gates open.

1. Lock my doors windows, make sure outside gates are close and locked, garage door closed, and unnecessary lights are off.

2. Cover the windows with heavy drapes allowing little to know light to escape

3. If i'm not already packed for my escape route start packing. Barricade the door with a lounge chair, if need be the foozball table.

4. Contact my travel buddies and have us each on a different news station that's giving coverage and cross referencing over the internet.

5. I don't see the point of informing local authorities since it will no doubt be on the news. I will not make a move to kill a zombie unless it comes withing distance of my house or escalates to a class two out break.

6. Have my dogs close by cause if anything in the world knows when dangers nearby it's alway the animals, thats why they are faithful companions.

7. Have ammunition for zombie killing in separate space and have that one bullet just encase.

Being a hero doesn't make you cool, chasing after zombies is the dumbest thing anyone can do. Even worse than that is if your hunting them, never split up.

For a class 1 I'd break out the good old rifles and shotguns. No barricading, just killing. You'd hear the sound of a window breaking and then it's just a matter of poking them in the face with a 12 gauge and pulling the trigger. Class one is less than 20. I could kill them all myself with the weapons I have at my disposal. Get a big a** 12 gauge and knock em down then quickly put a pistol round through their heads as they get back up. Works best with two people. But a level 1 is nothing to sweat about if you know what it is. Two guns are really needed and a machete and the outbreak is over. 9mm with two clips (each clip holds 15 or so) and a shotgun (nothing says "I'm gonna kill you again" like a big shotgun).

Pre-Outbreak Step One: Make sure my dad has a gun liscense, a .22, a .45, and some bullets to make it work. Make sure the machete works well, get it and the two axes upstairs.

Pre Outbreak Step Two: Create a Metro-Atlanta Zombie SWAT team, which would consist of me, and a couple of my handy friends.

Pre-Outbreak Step Three: Watch news for suspicious cases of lost persons.

Gets bigger? Take your real steps!

Step one: Lock all windows and doors and store weapons in an easily accessible place.

Step Two: Either wrench apart the good ol' deck or make it a lookout station. Pull up the metal stairs and rip apart the stairs to it's floor.

Step Three: Barricade all first floor doors and windows. Note to self: steel mini girder things may help (I have a shelf of it)

Step Four: Consume all perishables first. You must save the non-perishables.

Step Five: Since I have a big TV, and a big sound system, I'll put the display on.

Step Six: Establish a safe point, or a fallback position in your house if even one zombie enters your house.

Step Seven: Start carrying around your good pal, Louisville Slugger.

Step Eight: Radio your team mates. See if they're okay. See if they can come to help with the sweep of the area.
