I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but...aren't they the same thing?
Somebody's signature says "Gauging =/= stretching" and this is the first time I had heard that, because I thought they were the same thing. So...are they different?

Gauge refers to the size of the jewelry. Stretching is the act of expanding the fistula.

Oh so it's just a matter of terminology?
i.e. it wouldn't be correct to say that you are "gauging" your ears? You should say "stretching" instead?
