So. I finished editing my second my book for publication. Should be dancing and singing, right? After all, everything's just perfect, isn't it? It should be for sale right now. So why am I not gleefully dancing through the whole guild?
Because my artist hasn't finished my cover.
I asked her about the cover sometime around last April -- April '06 -- and she agreed to it. She was busy, so I didn't press her for results. Once the next school year started, I began hinting that she should get to work, but with a year left until the deadline, and it being her senior year, as well, and with her being a good friend of mine, I didn't want to bother her too much.
Around November, I started getting a little antsy, and I spent a week coaxing her to decide on what idea she was going to go with. Once she had decided, I felt sure she'd come through pretty soon. She's a wonderful artist, and I didn't want her to rush through it.
Around this April, when she was still only halfway through, I really started to get worried. I gave her a deadline in June, and she promised to have it done.
And now she's off to college, still not done with my cover, and I can't publish my book without her cover because I haven't got a backup that would be suitable. Am I a bad friend for being angry at her? For being upset that she packed up her art gear before finishing, and now might not be able to get me the cover before my deadline?
*breathes deeply*
Okay, I feel better with that off my chest. Cheese, could you delete this after she gets the cover done? I feel awful complaining about her like this, even though I've already said it to her face. *sigh*
Have a nice day! ~ Moya

*pats Moya*
She's doing her best to get it done. But I guess you do have a right to be stressed about this....
Whoa, I sounded like a councilor there...

Well, the thing is, I've seen her finish gorgeous paintings in class -- we had the same classroom for art, though she had AP and I had Independent Study -- and she did most of them in less than a week or two, working an hour and a half every other day, along with some extracurricular hours. She did clay sculptures and wire sculptures in the same time frame, too. So I don't think she's actually doing her best. I know she's been busy -- she had a lot of art stuff during the school year, and a job this summer -- but still. *sigh*
I wanted the book out before I got to college to meet some personal goals that I made for myself. It's an enormous disappointment. Yes, I know it's spoiled of me, but I've been working so hard on this... Ah well.
Have a nice day! Thanks for the councelling. ~ Moya

Seriously, then, you have a right to be disappointed.
But maybe she was having trouble painting it? I don't know, I'm out of tips.... -_-;;;;;
I shall go hide under my desk now.
