Okay, well because somebody had requested this,
I made a forum so that everyone can post their own tutorials on how they to dress Decora. C:

I'll go firsst.

Quote:

First off, pick a few colors you would like to include in the outfit.
Next, take all of the clothes from you dress that are those colors.
Then, with proper layering, put it all on. C:

Okay well I didn't write that. I found it a while ago and wanted to post it.
It doesn't work all the time but it's a good tip to use when you can't come up with anything.

Another tip I just came up with revolves aroung pattern. You don't have to follow this tip, but this is just something I like to use to help me make an outfit.

Pattern. Strawberries, kitties, polka-dot, stripes, etc. You can find it anywhere. Most of the time you can find it in Decora too. But when is it to much pattern?
Well this is what I do.

My basic Decora outfit involves a 2-4 shirts, many hairclips, 5+ Necklaces, lots of bracelets, a couple socks, skirts, leg warmers, and a pair of shoes. Of course you don't want all of those items to have a clashing patterns. When I creat my outfits, I use this tip= 25, 50, 75. That probably doesn't make any sense whatsoever, so here is what it really means. ' When you pick out your outfit, either 25%, 50%, or 75% should include a pattern.' It's a very useful tips and I use it all of the time. Here is an example:

How I started dressing in decora was going through my clothes and pulling out pieces that could potentially become part of a decora outfit, and I think it's a great way to start.
Once you've found all the decora stuff you have, and it's time to shop, keep in mind the colors of what you already have. Colors are very important. It's not good to just layer over and over all the brightly colored stuff you own. Stick with about 2-3 main colors, and just use other colors in accessories. Patterns are great to work with also.
Look for clothing that you can easily layer over others. Differently cut shirts and different length skirts work great.
It's also good to layer, and miss-match your legware. Get some tights, put on a few pairs of socks, some legwarmers, and you've got a nice look! Just keep in mind the colors!
Find as many accessories as you can. Necklaces, bracelets, hairclips, horde them all!
