A small Ulaith woke in the night, the sounds of his chosen and other companion Ulaith softly snoring was all that could be heard. With a small yawn, he sat back on his haunches. Gazing around at their make shift camp he straightened his top hat before setting off. He trotted off silently into the forest, a strong presence pulling him deeper and deeper into it's depths. The only light to illuminate his way were small scattered beams of starlight, and the soft red glowing mist around his feet.
A short while later after having made his way deep into the forest he padded his way to the edge of a small clearing, with a pound in the center. The clearing was big enough for three or four adult Ulaiths to stand around the pound. Gazing at the pound longer he noticed the way it sparkled in the moon light. It had a magical glow about it, and he was sure that it was what had drawn him so deep into the forest. 'I do hope that Master Isbel and Miss Sariel are not angry with me for wandering so far. Though I am sure they will understand.'

A little mauve haired Ulaith sat near the corner of the pond at its edge, looking as if she were peering into the sparkling depths below. Of course, she had been sitting there for a while now. As soon as her Chosen and the rest of her family were preoccupied by their dreams, the little one was able to sneak away. Something seemed to draw her to the pool, but whether it was the sound or the smell of the water, Nyria couldn't tell. Looks certainly weren't the thing that had drawn her there; she couldn't see the magical water, or anything else for that matter.
Instinctively, the blind Ulaith's head lifted up at the scent of black cherries wafted up from the mist around Raziel's feet. The smell caused her to smile and speak out to her new-found companion before he even knew that she was there. "You smell nice," said Nyria, matter-of-factly, "like the cherries I ate for breakfast this morning. What brings you out here at a time like this?"
In the moonlight the pond gave of a luminescent, but beautiful shimmer. However, it wasn't the only thing that was glowing. Around Nyria's neck hung a small hourglass made of pewter. White sand was falling in it from the top half into the bottom, filling at a slow, but gradual pace. There was something different about it, though; something not quite right. It was glowing a soft purple color, which was a sight that most people hadn't expected to see from an hourglass. Perhaps, it was special, but Nyria didn't seem to be divulging any information.

Startled slightly by the sounds of another Ulaith in the clearing. He nervously whipped his head around towards the sounds, his top hat falling from his head and landing softly on the ground next to him. He blinked a few times, staring at the lightly colored little female Ulaith. He gazed at her furry mane before he spotted twinkling little stars hanging from her horns. With a relaxed smile he nudged his top hat back onto his head and looked back towards her. This time he spotted the pewter hourglass around her neck.
He cautiously took a few steps out of the forest, and fully into the clearing. "If you do not mind me asking, what do I smell like? I did not know I have a specific smell." A small shy smile curled his maw as he sat a ways away from the female and her shiny trinkets. His eyes then caught the little bone shaped thing at her paws. A light fruity scent was wafted over to him from it.

The scent of fresh grapes could be smelt coming from the bone shaped thing. Earlier in the morning, Nyria's Chosen had taken special care to compress the juicy fruit into a bone shape for the little one in order to make the food more convenient to carry from place to place. Fruit was her favorite food, and coincidentally the only thing she would eat. With a dip of her head, the Ulaith gave the fruity smelling bone a nudge with her head in order to move it off to the side. She didn't want it to get in her way should she have to turn and look at her companion.
"You smell of black cherries."
At this, Nyria nodded her head; the stars dangling from her horns jingling a bit as she did so. Identifying other Ulaith by their specific smell was something that the little one had picked up early on in life, perhaps to compensate for her lack of vision. It was easier to tell who she was talking to that way, along with memorizing the sound of their voice. When Raziel came closer Nyria tilted her head and turned to look directly at him. She had noted his position by his movements as well as by the sound of his feet.
"It's nice to meet you, by the way," said the milky orbed Ulaith while blinking. "My name is Nyria."

Raziel watched the little stars on her horns as she nodded her head. He loved shiny things, just like his necklace. A shiny purple winged pendant he has gotten from Isabel. It has been given to her by her mother before she left home with her Ulaith's. Isabel told him that it would it would always keep him safe as long as he wore it. With that, he never removed the lace collar from his neck.
"It is nice to meet you as well Nyria. The stars on your horns are very pretty I must say." He said with a shy smile. "My name is Raziel." HE took a small bow from where he was sitting. Wagging his tail slightly, he fanned the mist around himself before curling it around his legs.
"I smell of black cherries you say?" Raziel said with an inquizitive look upon his face. He thought for a moment to himself, the red mist swirling around his feet. He lowered his head into the rising mist around him and inhaled deeply. "I am quite sorry, but I do not smell anything." Shaking his head he decided to get up and take a few more steps towards the other little Ualith.

A smile formed on the mauve haired Ulaith's lips upon hearing the compliment about her stars. They had been given to her as a gift from Jihi, just as she had given Raeli the blue drop-like ornaments adorning her horns. 'A female Ulaith couldn't go without some form of jewelry', her older sister told her once she had received the gift. Now that she had been wearing them for a while, Nyria had to admit that she had grown quite fond of her horn adornments. Maybe even as fond as she was to her hourglass, which had been with her even before she found her Chosen.
Giggling, the youngest of Jihi's family wagged her tail a bit, before opening her mouth to speak once more. "Raziel is a nice name," she began, eyes seeming to be fixated on his form. "And the others don't really seem to notice their smells. Don't worry." If one looked closely enough at her, they would be able to tell that even though her eyes was focused on the little red male, her gaze seemed to go past him. It was as if she were staring off into the distance. This could only mean one possible thing; Nyria was blind.

Raziel stared back at the other Ualith. "Why thank you. Nyria is a very pretty name as well." He cocked his head slightly, keeping his top hat balanced on his head. He gazed into her eyes. They seemed to be looking trough him, rather than at him. "I would imagine that most could not tell what they smell like. It is a very unique talent that you have there.
"I am sorry, but if you do not mind me asking, what are you looking at? It seems as though you are looking right through me.

"Sorry," Nyria mumbled, averting her eyes away from him, so she wouldn't make him feel even more uncomfortable than she was sure he already was. Honestly, the light purple Ulaith admitted, "I wasn't looking at anything, really. In fact, I can't see at all." An apology was usually the thing that followed the news of her blindness, along with words of pity. Frankly, she didn't want any of that. It was how she was born, and as Jihi told her it was the thing that set her apart from all other Ulaith. It made her special, and she wouldn't trade her blindness for anything in the world.

Raziel smiled softly as he listened to her words. "Aye. But there is no reason to advert your eyes. Even though you cannot see does not mean you have to turn away." He walked around Nyria, to face her. "It is not something to be ashamed of." He sat down infront of her, still smiling even though he know knew that she could not see him. "I do not care wither you can see or not."

Nyria nodded her head lightly; her head finally turning so her gaze could meet that of her companion. "I know," she whispered, shrugging her shoulders a bit. "It's just that when people find out that I'm blind, a lot of them take pity on me, and I don't want that. I'm happy that I'm this way. It makes me different. Special, even. But I'm glad that you do not care. That makes me happy."

"Of course Nyria." Raziel said tipping his head ever so slightly, as to not knock his hat from his head. "Well it seems that the mist around my feet make me special in my own way. Though most think from my appearance that I am evil." He said with a small frown.

"Evil," the light purple one repeated as she stood up from her spot. Casually, she padded her way over to Raziel before stopping directly in front of him. Her head dipped down slowly until she could nuzzle her snout against his, enabling herself to get a better picture in her mind of what he looked like. "You don't seem evil, and even if I could see you I wouldn't think so. You're nice, Raziel; people just need to look past appearances." Finished with getting a mental image of him in her head, Nyria crept back away from the red male in order to sit back in her spot. A warm, friendly smile graced her lips that could only mean that her words were spoken genuinely from her heart, and she meant every word.

A smile curled Raziel's maw as he padded over to where Nyria had laid back down. "Why thank you Nyria." He rubbed the side on his muzzle against the side of her head. The stars on her horns jingled light as he pulled his head away. He sat down next to her, wrapping his tail around his legs at the red mist drifted up around him.

Surprised that Raziel would nuzzle against her, Nyria blinked but then smiled when he sat down next to her. The scent of black cherries, seeming to waft from the mist drifting around him more than anything, soothed her body. It was a very relaxing and comforting smell. "I come here a lot, you know? It's a lot better than running around wild in the woods all day. And, if you started to come here too, I think it would be even better!"
