Kind of taken from the introduction thread:
Let's say you met someone that was a anime-virgin, and they offered you their cherry. What are the seven anime series that you would want them to watch, and why those. Is there some historical value. Did they set the bar for a certain type of animation? Are they just your favorite? Or are you trying to give this hypothetical person a well rounded view of all the kinds of anime available?
Not that I've seen a wide enough variety to say I think my list is amazing, but my Golden Seven would be:
~~~~~- Fist of the Northstar (I feel this anime has influence animated martial arts)
~~~~~- Azumanga Daioh (the epitome of exaggerated emotions and over reactions)
~~~~~- Last EXILE (cause I really liked it)
~~~~~- Slayers (all around fun fantasy)
~~~~~- Akira (I know, redundant)
~~~~~- Trigun (for its originality)
~~~~~- Evangelion (also redundant, sorry)
Well, that's all I got. How 'bout you?

Mine would be---
1. Slayers (a series with everything that any fantasy lover would love)
2. Tekkaman Blade (awesome plot and characters)
3. Blood Rain (I just love that that much>.<)
4. Kikider (amazing, that animeis just simply amazing)
5. Loveless (its cute >>)
6. Ai no Kusabi OVA (its a classic, very beautiful anime)
7. earthian OVA (cute angel boys, violence, good, evil and all those nummys X3)

#1 ~ Slayers (...'nuff said...)
#2 ~ Disgaea (...goes very well together with Slayers...)
#3 ~ Trigun (...need to rewatch that myself... oô )
#4 ~ Star Ocean Ex (...nice combination of fantasy and science fiction... even though the promised 2nd season was never made... ~_~)
#5 ~ Senkaiden Houshin Engi/Soul Hunter (...okay... I'd more likely force them to read the manga... therefore...) Death Note (...since it's somehow scary and has a quite interesting plot-developement... ^^; )
#6 ~ Heibane Renmei or Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (...oô ~ can't quite decide... though the latter is quite hard to understand if you don't know about the Question- and Answer-Archs... ^^; ~ though it's something to think about...)
#7 ~ Spirited Away (... ... ...)
Okay. I'd most likely show them a lot more than just these... /ho
...honestly... I'm somewhat unable to decide about this... ... ...

Well... Here goes XD
1.) Higrashi no Naku Koro Ni ヒグラシノナクコロニ(I agree with Zet... which shouldn't happen XD)
2.) Fate/Stay Night フェイト/ステイナイト(A'cause it's a good into to action anime)
3.) Spiral スパイラル(A'cause it's a good taste of anime that makes you think and such... give or take a bad ending or two >>)
4.) I would have to tie Slayers with Orphen, reason being they're both along the same lines ones just more magic based and one's more fighter based (yay RPG reference)
5.) Naruto ナルト(So you know what everyone's laughing at XDDD)
6.) Any of the Miyazaki films (C'mon... it's obvious)
7.) Either Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, or Outlaw Star (also obvious reasoning)

For me it would depend on the type of person I was showing...
But generally;
1.Evangelion (Classic)
2.Slayers (Great Series)
3.Sailor Moon (Don't ask...)
4.Robotech or Gundam Wing (Whats better than giant robos?)
5.Record of Lodoss War (Amazing Storyline)
6.Orphen (Personal Favorite)
7.Fate/Stay Night (The one I'm currently into...)

Well here it goes and yes I am all over the place with anime I like so I do not like a certain style...although I tend to like magical girl ones or ones where they teach a good meaning.
1. Slayers (it has a comedy, adventure, and humor all in one)
2. Azumanga Daioh (it can demonstrate how wacky real lfe could get)
3. Escaflowne (great storyline)
4. Record of Lodoss War (once again it's one of those great adventure movies)
5. Magic Knight Rayearth (a classic)
6. Chobits (really cute and shows some dark perspectives as well that can sometimes seem hidden)
7. Fruits Basket (has some good lessons in it)

Well I hope so since this is a slayers fan guild, if not then it's ok, but I wouldn't stay long in a guild where it wasn't my favorite anime. xd

But Higurashi is cool... Even though it confuses me at first domokun
If you just without knowing how this works you feel like 'Eh? WTF? They got killed in the earier episode! And why is she killing everyone now? And WHY THE HELL is everyone alive AGAIN!! >.<'
lol ~ Wikipedia is your friend... ^^;You should look up and start watching Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai. It's the second series to Higurashi (obviously x.x wink but it explains a LOT, like to the point that it hurts. Though they are only coming out with one episode a week as it's completely new at this point.

Hrmnya. I'm currently downloading what's available from Kai and will watch it after seeing the whole thing together with Fluffy anyway~

1. Slayers (I read the manga.. and saw some episodes. ^^; *shame* I really wished we had the time to watch them all.... but master and I have to many other things on the to-watch-list.. u.u but it's really great mix with humor and adventure.. )
2. Evangelion (classic I guess XD")
3. Full Metal Alchemist (don't really know why.. maybe because of the mix humor, adventure, drama i.e... nya.. )
4. Disgaea (..like Zetsu says.. goes well with Slayers =^_^= and is a good laugh...)
6. Scrapped Princess (..mnya.. )
7. Elfenlied ~ Erufen Rīto (..quite interesting.. and bloody.. Oo)
Nya.. but I guess.. I can't really decide what to show him/her^^;
It's not that easy to decide XD" Nya.. so.. there would be definitly more that I would show him/her.. nya.
@Ty: I don't know.. Is "Ai no Kusabi" really a good idea to show some newby in this field? XD
But I guess Earthian is a nice one.. nya..

That's why I can't really decide which anime I would show them.. because from most of them I read the manga^^; and not all manga got good anime...

Wow, you all have unique tastes in Anime. Which is kind of surprising. I guess I figured if everyone here liked Slayer a lot, then we would all have similar tastes anime. How wrong and foolish I was.
Well, I've seen some Haibane R, but never got to finish it (liked what I saw though), I've seen and liked a ton of Miyazaki fimls, seen Naruto (even though everyone's tired of hearing about it), Outlaw Star (for the most part), and the first episode of Escaflowne and Magic Night Rayearth. The rest are foriegn to me.
It seems that Orphen, Disgaea (which I thought was only a video game), and Higurashi are the few that I haven't seen that were mentioned more than once. Hmm. *Makes a note.* It pains me that no one likes Last EXILE. emo

The Dark Lord Shabranigdo Disgaea (which I thought was only a video game),
2 of them and a third coming up... Whereas I personally don't like the 2nd game and therefore won't play it.
The Anime's based upon the first one anyway and there's also a Manga for it.
It's definitely worth reading/watching/playing
