What is your opinion. I told a guy-friend that I wanted a lightly defined six-pack and he HATED the idea. He said it wasn't right for girls to have them. His reasons included "It wouldn't look right" and "What guy wants his girl to be more buff than he is?"

Still, I crave that six-pack, but I want to know what other people think.

I would love to have a six pack. Not rock hard abs, more that they are slightly defined.

One guys opinion is not enough. Some guys love it, some are ok with it and others hate it

It depends on the girl. Kiera knightley looks adorable with her defined abs, but she is famous for a more tough girl, tomboy attitude.

3nodding I think that if a toned bod that has a six pack is what you crave, you shouldn't stop thinking about it, but rather just go on out there, get yourself into the gym and build yourself those defined abs that you want. So many people are looking to plastic surgeons and fad diets to get that body type they would like to have, I think it's great to know that there are still folks out there who are willing to get their body the way they'd like with a little bit of hard work.

avixen, sounds like the guy you talked to hasn't gotten used to the idea of a woman who's got a nice set of abs, or the benefits that can come from it. What has your boyfriend said about your curiosity in a six pack of your own?

I think for most its more aestetically pleasing for women to have a flat stomach because I think its more common for men to have chizzled abs. But I've seen women who are all-body defined and they look damn good.

If a guy can't stand the idea of a woman looking in as good or better shape than him, then he's got a self-image problem. A guy should always want to show off his girl, but that could just be me, haha.

Go for it I'd say, or if you even wanted to jab at him, get fully chizzled and then compare yourself to him every once in a while biggrin .

The women in the Bowflex commercials all look awesome with 6-packs, so I say go for it!

If you want a six-pack, get one and ignore what others think. You should be doing it for yourself anyway, not for others. Who cares if some guys don't like their girls being buffer than they are? What are we supposed to do? Be lazy couch potatoes our entire lives so our boyfriends start to feel like real men? : P

Seriously. heart

I think if a guy thinks a girl with a 6 pack is buff i disagree, when someone says buff the first thing that comes to my mind is biceps and triceps. The whole huge arms thing. Abs arent what i would call buff so just go for it! Besides anyone that has a 6pack has to look good anyway!

What other people think doesn't really matter. If that's what you want foryourself and you're willing to do it in both a healthy and safe manner, go for it.

If you want my opinion, get toned in your abs, but leave the chizzled six pack for the guys. I don't like seeing a extreme definition on a ladies body, because I think lady's bodies should be curvy, not squared out like in guys.

I think pretty much every female client I have wants a firm, toned stomach, and it's a good thing in my opinion, but remember that for a pack to show, you have to first build the muscle, which is fine, but then you have to reduce the external layer of body fat, which is also a good thing... unless you go below about 15%.
It can become unhealthy and even dangerous for a woman to be below 15% body fat, keep that in mind.
