Huni had been staring at the piece of parchment for what seemed like hours. Frankly, it may very well have been hours, the red-head wasn't all too certain of how quickly or slowly the time passed whenever she was concentrating on something. For all intents and purposes, Huni had no clue as to how she got it or how anyone could have known where she lived. Given that she herself didn't know exactly how she got to Hameln, apart from Fable and the Pied Piper asking for her help.

So how, then, did this little brown paper end up at her doorstep? She played back the events of the morning, trying to see if there was a clue somewhere there. The morning began as all the others, her yawning and lazing in bed for a while before finally getting up. She changed out of her pajamas, changing into decent clothes. Outside her room she could already hear her adopted daughter Flerida rapping on their tenant's door that breakfast had been ready half an hour ago.

Huni knew Flerida never bothered to call for her to come to eat, after all she sometimes found herself elsewhere. She had woken up in the arms of a complete stranger, but rather than screaming her head off, Huni merely excused herself and departed for home.

She had gotten to the dining area where a set had been placed in the event Huni was actually home. The numerous felines lying about in their respective territories. They acknowledged the red-head's presence with their mews and purrs and sometimes hisses, Huni only giggled. Her adopted daughter was still trying to coerce the man who lived with them when Huni noticed a shadow slip past their door. At first she didn't give this a second glance but she spied a piece of parchment being pushed under the door.

Curious, Huni raced to open the door to catch a glimpse of whoever did this, but there was no one there. Even more curious was that apart from the address and other bits of information written, her name was mentioned. At first she was suspicious of its mere existence, what were the chances that she owned something from this bank? And more importantly how could she be certain it really was hers?

"Huni? Are you done eating?" Flerida cut into her thoughts, a hand outstretched to put away the dishes Huni had barely touched.

"Hm? Oh, yes, sure, go crazy Riddy." She mumbled, thoroughly distracted before getting up. Absently she heard Flerida and Joaquin argue but she didn't pay much attention. She was too busy mulling over whether or not she'd ignore it or go see whether or not it was the real deal. What did she have to lose?

And maybe this would give her a clue as to why she winds up in a completely foreign place with no memory of ever leaving. Looks like she was going to leave Hameln again. At least this time Huni was aware of her departure.

"Riddy, I'm going to check on an account of mine, you're in charge, alright?" She called out as she exited.

"Sure Huni!" The avian girl answered before murmuring to herself "What's an account?"

Travelling out of Hameln always led her to one place, no matter how she tried to leave or which direction she took she always arrived at the Crossroads. Numerous roads forked out into every direction and signs were posted on each one. Some read "Road to Nowhere", others read "Man's Road" and even some "Destiny." She peered at the piece of parchment and back at the signs and spotted one that bore the exact address.

The Crossroads was always a magical enigma and Huni learned long ago that trying to map it or even understand it would lead to nothing more than a headache. She began her journey on the road and soon found herself in front of the building written on the parchment.

Huni glanced behind her, the road to Hameln had vanished and she knew the only way she'd find it again was if she went through with whatever it was she sought out to do here. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and whispered "Here goes nothing..." before stepping in.

Ah ha! He had did it! He was on time for an appointment. He was going to look calm, professional and neat for this one. No more stupid mistakes and nervousness. He was going to look professional, and calm, and all those things he wasn't really. He smiled warmly when the person walked in, glad she made the appointment so perfectly. Everyone got the time just perfect, part of him wondered why, but he didn't question too much. It just didn't seem smart to question a convience.

"Welcome!" Ethan called out as he gave a small bow. He was going to do this one right. "I'm Ethan Reed, and his is Past Legacies Corp. I'm glad to see you have arived Ms..." Oh damn what was her name...Cake? Cookie? Oh yes! "Pi. I'm sure you have plenty of questions, and I'll be glad to answer them."

At least what he could. Wasn't like Ethan really knew all that much ether. Still the young man smiled politely, estatic that he hasn't messed things up yes. The place was still covered in contruction material but Ethan felt things were progressing well for the times. He looked over Huni and nodded, what a interesting woman, well she was about to get an interesting artifact.

Huni gave Ethan a small smile, she still wasn't sure what she was getting herself into. Oddly enough she felt a sense of deja vu, as if she was talking to the Pied Piper and to Fable for the first time along with Kanth. There was the tightening of her stomach, the same curiously morbid sensation that she was getting involved with something she could have avoided entirely.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Reed. I was wondering about this piece of parchment and also how exactly did it get to my home?" She handed the paper to the man, restraining herself from asking the rest of the questions she had in mind. There were so many things she wanted to ask but she figured these would have to do for now.

They had plenty of time, didn't they?

She killed it. Two seconds in the door and she managed to ask the single question he didn't really know. The parchments were just...sent. He placed them in the mail box and they just went. He figured the mail carrier did that but aparently it was odd for her. Ethan looked down, then gave a shy uncomfortable smile as he scrambled to hold on to his dignity.

He was never really good at that.

"Uh...well, you see Ms. Pi...I...don't...know. I just place those peices of paper into my mailbox and they always end up where they need to go. I don't know...why, or how honestly, but if you got it, it means you're here for your account." Ethan explained slowly, blushing as he knew it was gone. Now he just seemed like some silly newbie, and then she'd ask to see his supervisor and then she'd find out he was all that worked her.

Hardly professional.

Well, Huni was certainly disappointed by the man's answer. She had half-expected and half-hoped that he'd tell her about some existing being had instructed him to summon her so that she may learn of her past and learn why she doesn't remember several things that might have happened. "So you're saying that you don't know who I am, why I have an account, and why I have to be here?" she sighed, regretting that she even left Hameln.

This was certainly a waste of time for the red-head, then again, she did very little back home so it wasn't entirely a waste of time. At least she was out and about and not rotting at home pretending to be some sort of house keeper. "Sorry, I don't mean to sound so... snappish. I just have a lot of... things going on and I thought this place would have some answer or a clue of sorts."

She scratched the back fo her head, more annoyed with herself than with Ethan.

Ethan paled, then blushed at her tone and looked down, rubbing the back of his head as he wasn't entirely usre. To tell the truth her half desires were a lot closer to the truth than she thought. Ethan though felt like his acussiations were pretty close to the truth.

"Well...um...kinda, but...this is important." Ethan admited, shifting a little as he looked down. The important banker image was gone. Now he just seemed very shy and awkward. "I mean...well this is an account, you have something you were destined to get, please, since you're here..." Ethan mentioned quietly, hoping she wouldn't leave.

He head no idea what he was going to do if she left. What was he suppose to do with an unused heirloom?

"Of course it's important, it's always important if it's in Gaia and has some mysterious, inexplicable origin." Huni sighed, trying to keep back the sarcasm. It was unusual for her to be this hostile to others, especially to a complete stranger, but for some reason she felt entitled to being irate. This was nothing personal against Ethan and frankly she had half a mind to just walk out. But she knew she wouldn't be able to find her way back to Hameln if she didn't get what she came here for.

"Yes, yes, I'm sure it's so very important and that I was summoned by this undeniable force that leaves me the benefactor of something I will surely regret ever getting." Huni found herself taken aback by her biting comments. Flerida was a darling daughter, though the avian practically raised herself. Huni just didn't know if she was cut out to be responsible for something other than herself. "I-I'm sorry, please, do go on."

Ethan winced at the woman's tone, letting his head fall down as she snapped at him, a small blush creeping around his cheeks. He really didn't know what to say but his expernece was to never interupt an angry woman, especially when she's angry at you, and you're wrong. So Ethan waited till she was done and then nodded slowly.

"Well...um...did you bring the paper with you?" he asked softly, holding it out, "I will give you the key when I can see it." he admited as he headed over to the desk where he thought about which person was suppose to arive today. "I am sorry to bother you."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 10, 2007 11:06 pm

"No, no, it's not your fault. I just, oh nevermind." Huni sighed and dug around her pockets for the scrap of paper. Once finding it, she handed it to Ethan, doing her best to smile but succeeding only in not frowning. She really wasn't in the best of moods, but she knew that at this point she had no say in the matter.

"There have been others, haven't there?" she found herself asking. There was no way she could have been the first and only one to be summoned to this venue.

"Y-yes." Ethan studdered a bit. His shoulders hunched as he almosted scurried to behind the desk. His composure was gone, he had none of the bussiness man in him now. Now he was merely a bad student, after failing to turn int something important. With a sigh he retrieved her key and let himself pull back his lips.

The key was covered in webs. As an easily frightened man Ethan was already not liking the idea of what could come from such a key, luckily he did not have to hold it. He quickly gave it to the woman, hoping she would take it, and the spiders that once touched it, and leave soon.

"P-please, come with me." He bid, turning down the half completed hall, eyes looking over the wreckage sadly. He wish he knew, he wished he understood but he didn't. With a sigh Ethan stoped by another door. "In here, put in the code that was on the paper." Ethan told her, "Your heirloom awaits...I...I will wait out here."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 20, 2007 6:20 am

Huni looked a bit repulsed by the web-covered key. With the very tips of her fingers she took it, holding her arms outstretched in front of her to keep the object as far away from her as she could. If she wasn't so squeamish and would inspect at the key a little more closely she would have seen it wasn't covered in webs.

It was made out of webs.

A frown threatened to crease Huni's lips when she realized they have to travel through an incomplete structure. She stopped herself when she noticed Ethan's unease. Stop scaring the man, Huni. She mentally chided herself.

As they arrived at the door, Huni canted her head. Glancing at the paper then at the panel, the red-head began to input the code. "You're going to wait out here? Why do I get a bad feeling about this?" she twisted her lips in a wry grin, the key still held away from her.

"It's how it's done Ma'am." Ethan said quietly, a mild bow in his haunch as he held the door open for her. "I never go in. Just go inside, and put the code in the machine, you'll tell which on it is, it's the only thing in there." Ethan asured her as he steped back. This was for her to do, he was not suppose to help, not really.

And she would find that Ethan was right. As she steped inside the room would be empty, heavy steal walls that would make a jail bird feel caged. The only exit was the way she would come in, and Ethan shut that as soon as the woman steped in. He was suppose to, that's how it's done.

The machine hung from the wall, and had a screne asking for the combination to the safe, though were the safe was, was anyone's guess. It was up to Huni now, Ethan was no longer allowed to help.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 21, 2007 9:01 am

Huni stepped into the room, a grim look of determination on her face. She didn't so much as glance back as Ethan closed the door behind her. The room felt empty, sterile, devoid of all feelings and hints of what was to come. The walls were cold to the touch, almost icy but little else about them was of interest to the red-head.

Shrugging, Huni turn to rest her gaze on the screen. The machine had a panel of numbers, and this was where Huni started to punch in the code. Her ears picked up the sounds of tumblers turning and gears shifting, of rusted metal grinding against rusted metal after what may be decades of disuse.

Cringing as old, heavy hinges screeched in movement, Huni began to scan her surroundings for the source of the noise. A seam split in the walls and Huni could smell the odor of stale air filtering into her nostrils. Wrinkling her nose, she held up her sleeve to face to block the smell. I only pray it's not some rotting corpse.

The seam grew into a crack and stopped. Leaving Huni wondering what was she supposed to do next. The gap was rather small, it didn't even look like her slender fingers could slip through. Wait, was she supposed to put her fingers in there? The thought disgusted Huni.

"You have got to be kidding. No way! Who knows what's in there." She had half a mind to pound her fist against the door to have Ethan look into it himself. But when she turned towards the door she saw... there was no door.

A stinging sensation shot up Huni's ankle, causing her to yelp and hop on her good foot. Raising her pant leg, the red-head saw an ant crawling on her skin. Growling, she picked at the insect and squashed it between her thumb and forefinger. "Haven't these people heard of fumigation?" She muttered before blinking. What was fumigation?

It was a concept she had never really remembered knowing up until that point. This bit of information mollified Huni enough to ignore the itchiness of the ant's bite and focus on the gap. Steeling herself, Huni stuck her fingers though and felt her fingers brush against something that was very much like a button. Applying pressure, Huni heard a faint click followed by the crackle of dry leaves.

The wall slid apart, revealing another wall nearly completely covered in dry leaves. The only bare spot was a drawer of sorts, spider webs generously decorated the handle. Huni's lips twisted into a grimace as it dawned upon her that the key she had held so far away from her was now nestled snugly in her hand.

"Ick." She made a face before wiping away the silken strands from the handle. Pulling it open, the smell of dried leaves greeted her nose and Huni sneezed. Once was all it took to clear away the musty odor and jade eyes peered into the drawer.

Inside was a jewelled ant, as long and as thick as her finger. It was secured within a jar of amber. Somehow, Huni knew this was what she had come here for.

"Tang ina, ano 'to?" The words slipped out of her mouth without her realizing it and Huni's brows knitted in confusion. How was it she knew those words? Those swear words? How did she even know they were swear words?

This little thing she now held in her other hand was connected to her somehow. She just knew it, but she could not remember how or why she knew. It frustrated Huni to no end that she had come here hoping for questions only to find none and if there were they were too far out of reach. She nudged the drawer back into place, triggering the mechanisms to return everything to normal.

Even the door.

"Ethan? Could you open the door for me? My hands are all icky." She called out, hoping the door wasn't too thick for him to hear her.
