This information is from Bally Total Fitnesses webpage. Mexican
* Choose grilled vegetable fajitas with grilled chicken, shrimp or beef. * Ask for black beans instead of refried beans. * Skip the chips. Tortilla chips are usually high in fat and calories. * Pass on the sour cream, guacamole and cheese. If you can't live without these additions, ask for them on the side and use sparingly.
Italian
* Choose tomato-based sauces. Marinara, red clam or light wine and mushroom sauces are lower in fat than cream or cheese based sauces. * Ask the server to hold the bread to limit calories and avoid filling up on it. * Choose thin crust pizza. The thicker the crust, the more calories the pizza will be. * Pick healthy toppings for pizza like olives, mushrooms, peppers, spinach and zucchini. Avoid pepperoni, bacon, sausage, pancetta, meatballs, anchovies and extra cheese.
Chinese/Thai
* Save calories by watching out for peanuts, deep-fried and breaded items like sweet and sour chicken. Choose spring rolls or steamed potstickers instead of egg rolls. * You can always ask for white meat chicken only and get the entrée steamed with sauce on the side.
Mediterranean
* Eat tabouli and hummus as a high fiber, heart healthy side dishes. * For a main dish, choose shish kebabs, souvlaki (marinated lamb), grilled fish and dolmos (stuffed vegetables) but still keep an eye on portion sizes. * Avoid dishes that have extra cheese or high fat meats.
Indian
* Indian foods offer flavor instead of fat. Try tandoori chicken or fish for a flavor rich meal. * Chose legume based dishes (dals) and rice dishes (pilafs) for high fiber additions to your meal plan. * Start meals with vegetables and salads. * Be careful with naan (baked bread) if you are monitoring your calorie intake. Choose roti instead, which is made with whole-wheat flour.
Fast Food
* Plan before you enter a fast food establishment. * Choose a small hamburger (hold extra sauces) or grilled chicken sandwich (hold the mayo) with a side salad. * Choose salads without bacons and croutons. Be careful of the amount of cheese and peanuts. Always order salad dressings on the side and look for low-fat, low-cal dressings. * Be mindful of condiments. Calories can add up fast. Choose mustard instead of mayo and salsa instead of sour cream. * See if you can order lunch sizes or kid's meals, which are typically smaller portions.

I suggest not eating at fast food places, because they're food is highly processed, and isn't really healthy. If you must, like I do, go to ones where they use fresh meat and produce.

There's some healthy fast food. I worked at a restaraunt called Koryo. They are really healthy. Nothing is deep fried and nothing is ever frozen. (Except when storing it away in boxes.) There's no MSG or preservatives. Also, they taste really good!
