Meaning of name: Kaiki is a Japanese word meaning: total eclipse; totality. Since she's an Eclipse Dragonfly, it seemed to fit.

Background: One night, in a small glen with a great, clear pond in the center, a new-born pup woke up with a cry. The very moment her voice hit the air, the eclipse in the sky above reached its climax. Struck by the sky above, the pup's pure white fur instantly changed to mirror the expanse above her. The eclipse soon ended, as all must do, but the pup's fur remained stained.
As the sky returned to normal, the pup opened her eyes for the first time, took her first steps, and tumbled into the pool. Facing death mere moments after being given life, the pup began to swim. She swam to shore quickly and fainted.
Hours later, the pup re-awoke to find the word "Kaiki" carved into a round stone set before her nose. Nodding to herself, the pup realised that this was her name. Stumbling around the glen, Kaiki learned how to live.
Description: Kaiki is like the eclipsed sky. She is black and white - two extremes. Mostly quiet like the black sky, she can be loud and hyper as the white light. She is a very quick learner. She is curious and caring, and very polite. She tries her best to avoid judging anyone.
Her true love, besides her family, is story-telling. If she had her way, she'd spin stories by the base of Ber's tree for all the Dragonflies to listen. She has no interest in writing down or reading stories, but longs to preserve the art of oral tales. More will be added here as she RPs.

Meaning of name: Jatai is a Japanese word meaning: body of a snake; serpentine. I took one look at her and knew I had to have her. She was my Slytherin baby, even before she was mine. Thus, I wanted to name her Warujie, which means craft; cunning; guile; serpentine wisdom - all great Slytherin words! But ..... the root of the name, Waru, means bad thing; bad person. Not all Slytherins are evil! I couldn't choose that name. Thus, I went for Jatai.

Elder Power: Jatai has the ability to fully understand, and be understood by, all manner of serpentine life; AKA: She can talk to snakes.
Background: Not so long ago, there were two dragonflies, very much in love. They decided to have children, but failed each time they tried. Finally, on what they had previously declared as their last try, it was a success.
With Ber's help, the mother gave birth to a beautiful pup, but could not save her own life. The birthing had greatly weakened her and she passed away mere hours after seeing her newborn daughter.
Fraught with grief and broken inside, the father took his daughter and ran into the forest. As he ran, he found himself slowly growing angrier and angrier. It all makes sense, he thought wildly, the child is a demon who killed my love! She stole the life of my mate, he reasoned.
Filled with hatred, the father threw his daughter from his back. Yelping in pain, the pup crashed into a tree and fell to the ground, broken and bleeding. The father roared furiously. How dare she continue to live after that! She should die! And bring my mate back to me! He growled and prepared to lunge at his daughter, aiming to snap her neck and end her.
At this moment, Ber burst forth from the trees and stopped the wild father. He had seen the look of madness in his eyes earlier and had followed him to ensure the innocent daughter's safety.
As the wildly angry dragonfly ran off, Ber rushed to the pup’s still form. Cradling her petite body in his arms, he rushed back to his home to care for her. Many days passed, the pup growing better with each one. Finally, one morning, Ber was surprised to find the pup missing, with no traces left behind. Deciding not to worry about it, for she had healed almost completely, Ber continued his life.
Meanwhile, deep in a darker part of the forest, a small, silver and green pup limped. Suddenly, her back paw slipped into a hole in the ground, knocking her down to the ground and the wind right out of her. Once the stars had faded from her violet eyes, she saw the owner of the hole-home hissing angrily in her face, a large green snake.
Filled with wonder, for this was the first creature she had set eyes upon besides her father and Ber, the pup set about forming her life around these magnificent creatures.
After spending nearly two years living with snakes of all shapes and sizes, the pup had learned to understand them. She could not speak their language and she could not control them, but she knew what some hisses meant and what some actions meant as well. She considered herself to be the most knowledgeable dragonfly on snakes in the entire forest.
Finally, growing older and bigger, the teen decided to set out on a journey, hoping to discover new types of snakes.

Years later, as an adult, Jatai heard rumors of a mystical dagger imbued with the soul of a snake. Knowing that it was the darker of the two quest dragonflies who owned it, Jatai tried her best to forget about it. Knowing that beast, he would force her to kill for the blade.
However, one night, she had a dream of a silver dagger that called to her. When she awoke, Jatai knew that she had to win it.
She was forced to brutally slay an innocent snake and though she was deemed worthy of the Dagger of the Serpent, the memory haunted her for years. Finally, she made peace with herself and continued her journey.
Years later, the unimaginable miracle that Jatai hadn’t allowed herself to hope for happened. She had become an Elder! Gifted with the ability she had always dreamed of, she began her journey anew.
Description: Considering her past with her father, Jatai doesn't easily trust. She can be cunning and cruel at times, but mostly prefers to live a life that doesn't trod on anyone else's. She can be seen as rather bland, but it's just because she enjoys observing instead of actively participating. Difficult to anger, she will simply leave if something bothers her greatly. She won't try to change the world and doesn't see anything wrong with backing out of a situation. She is very quiet and mostly keeps her thoughts to herself.
Companions: Throughout her journey, Jatai has acquired a few friends of the serpentine form.
The Dagger of the Serpent:
This ancient silver blade was won by Jatai in a quest. It has the power to transform into any snake by her will. Or his own. The blade’s spirit claims to have been an ancient naga, protector-deities who dwelt in wells and lakes in ancient India and often took the form of great snakes. He can only be wielded by one he has deemed worthy and goes by many names. Though he can become any form of serpent, he is always silver with violet eyes. Since he has existed for eons, he sometimes talks about things that dragonflies don't understand.
Jewel:
A 3 foot long Green Temple Viper, Jewel was saved by Jatai from a rock slide. Thus, she now spends almost all of her time wrapped around the Elder’s neck or tail. Jewel is very nosy and often encourages Jatai to be more open and friendly.
Bronze:
Measuring at 32 feet in length and nearly 2 feet in width, Bronze the Anaconda is a huge snake. This copper-toned brute is actually quite friendly. He is more of the strong-silent type and places great importance on honor. He was saved from drowning by Jatai. Since he realizes that his presence may dissuade others from approaching his friend, he tends to stay hidden most of the time.

Background: Ages ago, there lived an Elder. This Elder, who was quite new to the whole Elder-thing, had the powers of ice and winter’s chill. Naturally, he found the tropical climate of the Di'jai forests to be stifling.
Thus, he set out on a journey northward that took him beyond the edges of the mighty rainforest. There he found a series of caves with connecting tunnels and caverns beneath them. These caves weren’t exactly cold, but they were better than the moist rainforests he had known before.
Deciding to test out his new Elder powers in this new location, he released a great burst of cold into a particular cave. However, the burst was greater than any he had ever attempted before, and once the power began flowing out of him, he could not stop it.
The force of a thousand winters rushed from his body, killing him in the process. The sheer coldness he had created took the cave, sealing itself into the very rock.
This cave is a cursed place of eternal winter now. Even decades after the unfortunate Elder’s demise, the cave remains frozen and icy. It snows here nearly every week and the sun cannot reach the interior of the cave to melt the ice. The spell of winter’s grasp covers the entire cave and almost half a mile into the tunnels below.
It was this cursed cave of snow and ice that young Kanki and Orient found in their travels. Like the Elder before him, Kanki had set out on a journey to find somewhere colder than the rainforests of Di'jai. He wanted to be comfortable, rather than constantly feeling like he was melting. Of course, Orient had followed him.
Description: Kanki is a rather unique Dragonfly. Even after melting from his ice cube, Kanki's body is still quite a few degrees cooler than the average Dragonfly. Usually, his breath comes out in cold puffs of air no matter where he may be.
Kanki is very artistic and sensitive. Like Jack Frost himself, he loves tiny, delicate artwork most of all.
Kanki is very emotional as well. He tends to wear his heart on his paw, if you know what I mean.
He is also gay. I know, LE GASP! Yes, Kanki is gay. With Orient. XD

Smile Through The Pain
Name: Kirinketsu
Nickname(s): Kirin, Ketsu, Gwee
Meaning of name: Kirinketsu is a Japanese word meaning: dragon's blood. Since he is based off of the Gwee dragon, it just made sense.

Background: Born during the tumultuous time of Biade's attack on Di'jai, Kirinketsu was released from his mother's womb about a month too early.
This left him with weak lungs and a fragile heart. He and his family soon learned that his sickness would not kill him, but that he would simply have to live carefully. He could not run too far or swim too hard, or he would be on the ground, coughing up his life's blood.
Forced to grow up quickly, Kirinketsu could take care of himself much earlier than normal Dragonfly pups. Shortly after this, Biade sent demons into the portion of the forest where his family lived.
Fleeing for their lives, Kirinketsu's father sacrificed himself to buy his wife and the child on her back more time to escape. Clinging to his mother's back, Kirinketsu realised that he was only slowing her down. If he continued to burden her, they would both die.
Swallowing his emotions, he lept from his mother's back and landed in a nearby bush, his fragile body trembling from the exertion.
However, it was in vain. The demons didn't even see the tiny ball of green fur. They merely continued their hunt for his mother. Moments later, Kirinketsu heard her scream of agony and knew what had happened. He rushed from the bush and ran towards her, knowing he could not help but that he needed to be there anyway.
His body, however, had other plans. Before he knew it, he was pressed to the ground, coughing his lungs up, unable to get enough air. The attack was so bad that it forced him into unconsciousness.
When he awoke, it was too late. The demons were gone, and his family was dead.
Description: Kirinketsu is a rather serious dragonfly, due to his past. He likes to see the good in everything, but he knows that evil exists as well. He has an inferiority complex that causes him to secretly abhor his own body and its weakness. He smiles all of the time and put on a brave face, but inside, he suffers from trauma and emotional scars. All he wants is for something to see beyond his fake smile. More will be added here as he RPs.

((Continuation of Kaiki and Kigu's RP - Previous posts can be found in previous journal))
Nodding with slightly wet eyes, Kaiki leaned into his touch for a moment before walking to the creek and sitting down on the bank. After a moment or two of watching the water chug by, Kaiki spoke up again. "Kigu? What kind of bugs do you eat? And how do you catch them?" she asked, curiosity back in her voice.

Kigu giggled slightly, and went to sit down next to Kaiki, "Well, It really depends on what I am in the mood for. They all taste different, truely they do! I must say though that caterpillars and grubs are usually one of my favorites. But I like hanging around the water because of the grasshoppers and the," Kigu giggled, "and the dragonflies. Trust me, I don't know what we taste like, but our little bug forms have just the right crunch." He nodded and sighed, "But when I get hungry I just cant be picky... so I have eaten from ants to scorpions when it comes down to it. But there are some bugs I refuse to eat, like flies and moths.... they are just too gross looking to put in my mouth." He shivered slightly and flopped over on his back, his paws dangling in the air while he looked at Kaiki, smiling that goofy smile of his.

Nodding at his explanation, Kaiki murmured, "That makes sense....." before giggling softly as Kigu flopped over. Deciding to copy him, Kaiki flopped over onto her back as well, dangling her black paws in the air. Suddenly pointing to the lone patch of sky visible through the canopy of trees, she cried, "Cloud! I can see a cloud! What does it look like though.....?" She trailed off as she squinted and cocked her head to the side, trying to find a shape.

Kigu heard Kaiki cry out at the sight of a cloud, and had to stiffle a giggle. She is so cute getting excited over a cloud but... that cloud does look like..."A cloud?! A cloud, a cloud, a cloud, a cloud!!!! Hmmm... I think it looks like... a dandilion? No... not a flower... maybe like a bunny? Ummm, no..." Then he quickly turned over and scooped Kaiki into his paws. He then lay on his back again, and blanced her on his paws so she was a bit off the ground, "I KNOW!!! I looks like a Kaiki!!!" He laughed, gleefully.

Completely startled when Kigu lifted her off the ground, Kaiki was too shocked to cry out. Once she realised that she was safe, not too far off the ground anyway, and in Kigu's paws, her entire face was aflame in silver blush. Stuttering nervously, she told him, "R-re-really? I-I-I th-think it looks morelikeaKigu!" She rushed through the end, mentally cursing her wits for deserting her whenever Kigu was around.
