Well here's aplace to talk about comics, any comics you want. Manga, American, Whatever!

Currently I'm reading any and all of the Ultimate range. Don't know why but I like the Ultimate universe better than the original 616 Marvel universe. When ultimate Spiderman came around for the first time, I thought great this can be a brand new start, I won't have to worry about all these years back reading and referencing comics from who knows when, and since then I have stuck with it, through thick and thin.

I also love anything by Tim Sale, that guys work is extrodinary, he is one of my main inspirations. Just picked up his solo book the other day, and although I'm not too keen on his storytelling, I still love his art.

Other stuff I'm reading and collecting are Streetfighter, Army Of Darkness, and a few other things every now and then.

As for Manga well I've never really been too keen, especially after the huge anime explosion with Pokemon, and now yugi -oh (what the hell is with the story, I mean why do these people with a stupid card game have the power to destory the world, here's an idea steal the guys cards and burn them!) Anyhoo, I do like a few, I loved the Battle Royale manga, more than the movie, and I've also been a HUGE fan of Ranma 1/2. Some stuff I want to read though is the whole Ringu series, although my local comic shops only got Spiral at the moment, and although it technically isn't manga (cause it's from China) I'd love to read Shaolin Soccer, but again my local's only got the 2nd issue

Well, let's see. The only Manga I've read is Shaman King. And some Pokemon, not much. I watch Yugi-Oh on TV since it's on every day. I haven't picked up the comic. I've always thought it's too preachy about friendship and over-the-top but the cards are cool. . Not as good as the monsters in Magic, I love those cards, they're beautiful, really. But that's about it. I don't really read a lot of comics. Well, yeah, some graphic novels. Maus and Road to Perdition. Maus is one of my all-time favorite literary works.

You should ask the people who work there to order Shaolin Soccer for you, or anything else you want that they are not currently carrying. They should be more than happy to get it in for you. (I use to help out at my s/o's comic shop - in fact I still have a retailer account and do special orders so I know about this sort of stuff) The Battle Royale manga is great.
I am a big fan of regular comcs as well. Just read Deadshot #1.
I love Tim Sale, he drew me a Joker at San Diego Comic Con a year or two back. I loved Solo. I read too many comics but some of my favorites are (the ones currently still running) Fables, Lucifer, any of Alan Moore's ABC books, Planetary, Y The Last Man, Ex-Machina. Others I read: Transformers, GI Joe, the Batman books, Superman (as long as Austen isn't involved), Blue Monday, Strangers In Paradise, Ghouly Boys, okay...this list is out of control I will stop.

Yeah I've thought about ordering, but I've never had enough money to buy it yet, at any given time, once I get a job though I probablly will. Lucky you getting an original Sale illustration, of the Joker no less! I am too envious now. I used to read Tom Strong, but then the distribution kinda went weird and I lost track of it, same with Blue Monday, I had the first issue of The Kids Are Allright, but never saw the next issue, ever! And the next I see was Painted Moon, but I never found the first issue. Usually my comic store is really good with getting stuff, but just those few I don't know whats happened. I've always also wanted to read Strangers In paradise, but never gotten around to picking it up, but the other day I saw a trade which looked like a pretty good starting point so I might have to go get that sometime.

Heard a while ago that John Cheese, er I mean Cleese, will be writing a hardcover superman story, (well co-writing). I saw a preview of it on the Monty Python website, and it looks damn funny. Normally I hate Superman but this looks pretty cool. Entitled Superman: True Brit, it's an Elseworlds tale of a young Kal-El crash landing in London, check out info onDaily Llama

now if we could get Michael Palin to Write a batman Story, Terry Jones to Write green lantern, Eric Idle to write Wonder Woman, and Terry Gilliam to direct the movies, all would be perfect in the world xp

I want that bridgekeeper I saw at Kings... which is hardly local razz I finished reading Apocolysp Meow ... it's about the Vietnam war but told using animals.... truth be told I was mainly influenced to buy the book on account of the AK47 wielding bunny rabbits (awwwwwwww 4laugh ) and the art was really good... reading it I found it rather educational if not slightly biased leaning on the Allied side all the time. I guess we all know that in war there are never good guys and bad guys, it's all very subjective. Anyway it was a very good read. smile
I'll wait till next week to pick up that copy of Doll... it looked rather interesting.

Actually it came out a little while ago. It's a hardcover though sweatdrop
It was...different, that much I will say. Not really worth the hardcover price though.
I loose interest in just about every book I read but end up missing it and going back. I admit I am addicted to the damn things.
I wasn't expecting Sale to sketch me a Joker, but happy that he did. I also have a batman by Jim Lee. He drew it at a Marvel signing. I love getting sketches at San Diego Comic Con. I need to beat Bachalo though, he still owes me a Death sketch. stare

D'oh so it did! I was still going by the original news I heard of it being released in December or something. I was also expecting Dailylama.com to update when it came out. Damn missed it! Gotta try and find it.

Ah yes Bachalo another great artist. I wanna get some original sketches, but I keep missing the cons whenever they happen, (like once a year, and then hardly anyone special comes out) All I've got is a few signed books. Got Jim Lee to sign my X-men #1 when he came out way back in about '97, Mark bagley to sign Ultimate Spiderman, collected 1,2,and 3 which he bent the cover of when he signed Ultimate Spiderman #25, and Jim valentino Signed What if, that I picked up in a comic store while I was in the U.S in '97 without realising.

Hooray for Flaming Carrot Comics. My new fav comic, completely and utterly insane, for instance take his origin

Quote:
Having read 5,000 comics in a single sitting to win a bet.....This poor man suffered brain damage and appeared directly thereafter as ---THE FLAMING CARROT!

yeah just got the new Flaming Carrot comic today, always wanted to read the book ever since I heard about him years ago, and now with the new number one, I decided I've got to read it, and I was greatly satisfied.

Also got the Ult X-men, staring Ult Longshot, and Ult Mojo, very weird indeed, no longer the Space Alien tv show dominating guy, but rather a big fat albino tv show dominating guy. Guess it's a change

And New Avengers, quite pleased with it so far, even though a LOT of people are hating it, and want to burn Bendis at the stake, but I was never a huge fan of Avengers anyway and the whole chaotic stuff with all the supervillains escaping seems pretty cool to me.

Also Darkstalkers #2, which is leaving me feeling a bit, meh. The issue seem way to short, especially when there are so many characters. nothing much seems to be happening.

As for me...I finally bought the 4th issue of Shaman King. It had a lot of action, as always, but I hate having to wait around for the next volume. stressed
Anyway, it's a great series. I love the artwork and the story has endless possibilities. Go ahead and check it out, even if it means just reading it at the comics store.
