Well there I was browsing the bookstore one day recently when I came across a slew of books claiming that the contents of said books would awaken your psycic powers.
So what do you guys think? Is it possible to become a psycic after reading a certian book? Or do you believe that everyone has a degree of psycic abilities in them and all they have to do is harness them?
I'd love to hear your opinions.

Well I don't know about books, but when there was a live boardcast of that famour spoon bender (I can't rememebr him name right now) a lot of people claimed to sudderenly be able to bend spoons as well.
For most thought is faded after a while.

I don't think you can become psycic from a book...but I think everyone to a degree has some sort of psycic ability some are better than others and some have a better awarness of it some have both. I think you can improve your ability from a book or having someone help train you but I don't think you can become psycic your born that way.

I have a book like that. While it didn't allow me to read minds or bend spoons upon completion of it, it did help me understand how psychic ability works.
I think you can learn a great deal from books, but nothing is going to make you psychic but you.

I think that you're born with the amount of psychic ability that you have. Maybe how you're brought up affects how developed those abilities become. All I know is, my cousin is fairly psychic, and me, not so much. lol It's crazy to watch her work too. She mostly has premonitions and so far, all of them have come true. She also has the ability to see spirits, again moreso than me. But while I don't have premonitions, I have an understated ability to tell how people are feeling and influence them to feel a different way. It may not be much, but it's all I've got. lol But long story short, I think that people are born with different psychic abilities and ability levels. lol sweatdrop

Some psychic talents can be trained and devloped, but alot of others simply cannot be strengthened like that. You either are born with them or develop them through experience.

i have multiple books on psychics but mainly what i believe is that we are all born with the gift.....some have it opened, some just peek, some hide it, some pour it out, and others spurn it.....it just pends on the person..... a variety of factors can effect it...... The main thing is that yes, reading books on psychics will "prime" their abilities like heavy machinery.....it just needs a jump kick!

i believe everyone has the ability, but there are so many different ways that it develops(dreams, sound, feeling, smell, and ect.) that if you so choose to develop it more(be it through tv shows, tapes, books, or personal endanvers(sp?)) it could take a short time or decades... i know that if i develop myself more it would be through sound, my problem is my brain goes on over drive constantly because the amount of sounds i hear constantly... i can't seprate the all the sounds i hear and therefore can't block particular ones sad ... i also have empathy...

I don't think books could actually awaken your ability. It might depend mostly on you. I believe that in order to use psychic abilities you must be able to unleash or awaken them. Sure books can motivate you but if they were actually able to awaken those abilities fully then everyone in the world would be reading eachother's thoughts.

Some books might teach you certain things when it comes to being physic.

Firstly, true psychics are not "gifted". They were not specifically born with this ability. They honed it, worked on it, slaved over it, faced countless of fears to be where they are today. Everyone is born with psychic "gifts". But I do digress. Some people are born with a higher sensitivity to things, yet it's their choice whether to wield it or to ignore it. Mostly everyone else was born "normal". They couldn't speak with ghosts, or predict the future, or read peoples' minds whenever they felt like it. The "sixth sense", in my opinion, cannot be fully unlocked without a conscious effort.
Sure, books can be lots of help, but they won't mystically grant you any abilities. However, some can teach you a great deal on how to develop the abilities yourself, on your own time, if you're willing to sacrifice whatever was considered "normal" to you before.

OK bullsh*t. i have always been able to see ghosts whether i want to or not. ever since i was a baby, im an old soul (and maybe an indigo child) and through each of my lives i have been able to see ghosts. without even trying.
