Okay, I've had enough of ADV Films these days. First off, they took over my most favorite licensing company Geneon. It was the only licensing company I ever really liked. But no, ADV Films (one of my most hated licensing companies) took over Geneon. I also hate them for canceling manga before it's finished in Japan such as Aria, Kids Joker, Yotsuba& (I know they brought it back, but it took them 1.5 freakin' years to get vol.4 released), and some other ones that I can't think of right now. Seriously, if they're going to start translating a series, then they should finish it. The only good thing about them right now is that they're keeping the original voices of the DMC (Devil May Cry) game and using them for the anime.
Okay, now that I got that out of my system... what do ya'll think about ADV?

They took over Geneon!?!
I HATE ADV for making a 2 year wait for Gunslinger Girl 4! (Even though I only started it last month. XD)

Well not totally. But ADV gets to decide what to do with the anime that Geneon licenses, which I think is total bull.

I hate ADV for their shitty thinpaks with stripped extras and their failure to properly market Princess Tutu. *continues Tutu singles crusade*

I actually like the thinpacks, since it allows me to cheaply buy anime that I like enough to watch, but not enough to individually buy each DVD. If stripping the extras means cutting the price in half, then go ahead.
And ADV doesn't decide what to do with Geneon titles. They are in charge of advertising and promotion.
And ADV had a lot of problems with their manga line, I agree. I'm still bitter over the wait I had to suffer through for the last volume of of Chrono Crusade. (I'm glad they included color pages in the books, but I'm not sure that makes up for having me wait a year to see how the story ends. But ADV is primarily an anime company, not manga, and I think in that regard they do a good job.
I don't read most of their manga titles, but I am glad they've either started them back up or sold the licenses to Tokyopop, while not perfect, at least manages to handle all of their manga.

Well Animenewsnetwork just made it sound like that ADV was taking over Geneon. But now they just made a recent post saying that ADV and Geneon are working together (that made me feel better). But I still hate them for delaying some of their manga. D=

They're just as bad as Tokyopop IMO (least as a manga company). Though at least ADV does a better job on cover art.

I don't know, I've never thought that Tokyopop was a bad manga company; maybe it doesn't treat every title as well as it should, but they do well enough. I just wish they didn't have the big red TP symbol on all of the spines...
But yes, the cover designs for the ADV manga is some of the best; I think they only one better is Del Rey. But maybe they have more of a budget for that since they do less manga titles than Tokyopop and Viz.

I love ADV. If it weren't for them the best magazine ever, NewType probably wouldn't have been printed in English.
But yeah, the wait for their manga is a horrid one indeed, and some of their series' stopped all together. (Detective Loki... crying ) But what really gets me about their manga is the fact that they licensed the second part of some of them but not the first part. (ie. Peacemaker Kurogane.) But all in all, I'm actually kinda "Eh" about them.
