(( This is a private RP between Kuu and I and our Clockwork Sorrows. Please do not post. ))
Relique had kept true to her words as she sat silently on the edge of the dry fountain, waiting.
Single crimson eye watched the dimly lit surroundings through her mask with what appeared to be a lazy stare, but in reality was actually unnoticeable anticipation and sudden lack of patience. She folded her hands loosely in her lap and rubbed her fingers lightly every-so-often when the cold air would encase them for too long. Scarves and sashes were wrapped around her neck, their long "tails" twined around her arms. As she exhaled in a deep sigh, a thin haze of white breath slithered out the sides of the mask over her face and mingled with the fog that had long since begun to torture the level of visibility in the area.
Turning her head to gaze in another direction, Relique quietly let her mind run on its own as she watched another lamp's dim light refract into some glowing orb due to the heavy mist. She wasn't sure how tonight's meeting would go and if Ennui would have any more strange relapses. ... She hoped they'd find something in the old London library that may give insight to it all... for the second voice of her companion still seemed eerily familiar and it irked Relique that she couldn't fully remember or place it for she remembered everything else in her life.
...only time would tell.

He was hesitant. A part of him not of the other personality was sketchy about searching out his past. Portions of his mind just didn't think opening that box was important. Pandora's Box? How many in the past had continued to open that box knowing that all the world's misery was locked inside. Even so, hope was his only measure of resiliance. "I must not make her wait." He commented to himself softly as he walked slowly almost gliding down the dark streets. Once again he allowed his blindfold to be removed looking into the darkness around him. All could be seen easily as this was his method of vision, only at night could he enjoy the sights around him. And only in the darkness did hidden beauty shine. He smirked slightly. The nonstalgic feel that washed over him. Why was anyone afraid of the darkness? It had such mysterious beauty. So dark and foreboding but intriguing just the same. If it wasn't for his infatuation Ennui might not have left the confines of a home so long ago. He might have remained the test subject of sickly man. "How long ago was that?" he questioned sudden thoughts of a madman and his experiments. Why was he created? For what purpose does he and his kind roam this wretched world? As his thoughts continue to run with him he barely noticed the fountain of which he was to meet Relique for a breif moment as he allowed the darkness to shed the light he preferred on the area he remained stoic. Watching the alluring beauty before him. Such a mystery and yet he couldn't help an unseeded desire to devour the other. An excitement in him that Ennui was most scared to admit existed. For a moment an estranged smirk came to his face, a long pink tongue peeked out to lick sharp fangs as they drooled with a desire to devour. And just as soon as that had happened Ennui snapped to himself looking around. When had he gotten here? Noting Relique he shook off that strange feeling of apprehension before stepping forward. The latern light quite dim, enough that he would not have to worry about another outburst from his other half. "My apologies for keeping you waiting." He offered in return before sliding up next to the other; of course he had his measure of distance. "Shall we proceed as planned?" he said softly. If there was one thing he realized about himself, it was that he had a complex toward beautiful things. Maybe that was a clue to his past? Only time would only tell...

At the sound of someone else's voice, she startled slightly, but quickly calmed after realizing who it was. So deep in her thoughts she had been that she hadn't even noticed him... and in the back of her mind that scared her slightly. She turned towards him and then stood, waving her hand to dismiss his apologies as she went.
"Don't be apologetic for such a small thing... but yes, we should go now," she said equally softly as she looked at him. It was the first time she had ever seen him without his blindfold on... and she stared almost absentmindedly at his opaque and almost opal-like eyes. She quietly supposed that they were supposed to appear lifeless in some way, but she couldn't help but notice something flickering behind them. Something that she liked... and didn't like...
An unnoticeable shiver went down her spine as she stood there and laced her fingers together in front while she waited to be on their way. Her mental guard was already up and standing.

Opaque eyes roved over Reliques form briefly before they began there short walk to the local library. Perhaps that was where they would be able to find the information to one's own past. He had no clues of where to start outside of his strange infatuation with beauty. What was it about things of that nature? Why did he have such an allure?
Perhaps it dated back to his creation but without memories of his past in that sense he could not pinpoint exactly what it was. As they found the library it was easy to guess it would be closed at this hour. However, there were more than one way to gain access.
As if gliding, Ennui quickly changed his pace toward the back entrance. There he could do his work without the possibility of being caught. A simple door to keep intruders out he placed a single finger on the lock allowing a small amount of liquid to pour from its tip before it sizzled with the smell of acid. Soon the knob was turned and the door was open, as expected there was some acid used to eat through the lock. A specialty Ennui had not used for some time. Motioning for Relique to follow he entered making sure to close the door behind him before looking around the dim hall that would lead them to the main room of the library. "This must be the employee entrance." He commented more for himself.
"Well let us make way to the main hall. I'm not sure where we can start our search but I've noticed one interesting fact about myself." He paused a moment seemingly embarassed but of course that could not be read on his face as he had the usual blank gaze and set mouth. "I have an infatuation with beauty. Perhaps we can start with some information on artifacts of history that are considered beautiful by artistic standards..." He shrugged considering there was nothing else to go by he hoped the other would have some ideas but until then that was their starting point.

"Beautiful artifacts in history may still be too broad of a topic to find anything in anytime soon," she commented. Up until then she had remained silent, merely observing, following, and listening to whatever else he had said.
She glanced up at him with her single visible eye as they moved down the dim little hallway towards the larger one. "Do you remember what year you were created?" Knowing at least a starting point would be more helpful, even though Relique already had a general idea since it was sometime after she was made.
(Relique's 427 yrs old)

"I cannot remember the details but I am almost certain it was in the late 1500s to early 1600s." He commented without saying much else. In the following silence were their trailing fabrics as they brushed softly against the floor.
It didn't take long to get to the main library hall. Once inside, Ennui looked around not at all surprised by all the books. Nothing but information as far as the eyes could see. Within one of these books held the secrets to his past. He only had to search and reveal it.
Sighing he looked to Relique a slight shift in his otherwise bored expression... this was an expression he was not used to but had learned all too well that being around Relique for too long would soon surface... it was fear. While it did not cling to him as strongly as any other it was enough to cause him to hesitate slightly in the door way. "I am nervous. What if I find something about myself I do not wish to know?" It was obvious he was frieghtful at this point but he had never cared how others viewed him. Weak or strong it didn't matter something he had to be thankful for all these years. His indifferent nature had been both a blessing and a curse at times for as much of his memory he could recall.

Relique turned back to him, having gotten a head a pace or so when he had hesitated. "We've all done things that we're not proud of, but there's nothing we can do about them," she paused and turned her eye away from him again as she looked about at the grandeurs of the library. She couldn't see much detail wise, only what the moonlight illuminated as it shined through the upper windows.
Reaching the front desk, she stopped and looked at him once more. "If you find something that is... 'horrid' from your past... then accept it, and come to terms with it, because you can't change what has already been done." She turned away and reached her arm across, and then under, the small top ledge of the desk that allowed for patrons to sign, and for librarians to hide, things in and on (wow that made no sense) and extracted a long black flashlight.

The apprehension in him seemed to only mount but he didn't say anything more only breathing deeply and letting out a calming breath. Stepping forward he did not go for a flashlight the night casting its only secret light upon the massive hall.
The search would be long but eventually the two would settle on various books that had been placed on a table in the middle of the room. He had only gone for books that had information dating as far back as his "supposed" birth.
Taking a seat he scanned the first book he took in hand only vaguely understanding what was going on. "Fiction or not?" He questioned not big on books but hardly ignorant about them. He just didn't like the fact that they held both ugly truths and pretty lies. Even so he had asked for this and so there was no turning back. There had to be some answers which lay within these many pages.

Relique let her fingertips pause on the cover of one of the books as she flicked her single gaze at him. "Not. Look in fiction if you find an eerie reference to it, but otherwise keep with fact." She looked back down at the book her hand was on and slid it to the edge of the table where she took a seat and flipped the pages towards the Index.

He said nothing as he flipped through the pages. His opaque eyes roving over the references sparked nothing as he continued to scan the pages. What could he possibly be looking for? Words in a book had only so much truth to them there had to be something more.
A barely audible sigh escaped his lips as he contined to scan, reading would take too much time. While his current scanning could possibly miss important facts. Even so he went through one book after another noting interesting details but none of it sparked any memories from his past.
A sudden read caught his eyes however which made his nose curl up in distain despite himself. "Horse s**t?" He questioned simply before reading from the piece: The term appears to have been first used by the alchemist Paracelsus. He once claimed that he had created a false human being that he referred to as the homunculus. The creature was to have stood no more than 12 inches tall, and did the work usually associated with a golem. However, after a short time, the homunculus turned on its creator and ran away. The recipe consisted of a bag of bones, semen, skin fragments and hair from any animal, of which the chimeric homunculus would be a hybrid. This was to be laid in the ground surrounded by horse manure for forty days, at which point the embryo would form. After reading he looked up for a moment quizzically but returned to staring at the pages blankly.
"I do not assume to know what the creator made us out of but horse s**t is not one of them. What kind of rubbish do these books have?" He questioned as he looked at its cover as if it would give him answers. Closing the book altogether he stood to his feet heading for another book shelf. "Have you found anything of interest?" He asked softly in the dark room.

As the time passed, Relique had allowed herself to wander some few yards from the book laden table and poke about in some of the isles. It was in one of these isles that a rather thick book caught her attention, and with this being said she did not appear to have heard anything that Ennui had said or asked.
She stood as if transfixed, her head slightly bowed to show that her attention was practically glued to the pages of whatever it was that she was currently reading. Though the porcelain mask covered her face and the eye sockets were shadowed, it could be sensed that she wasn't blinking and that her crimson eyes were glassy; Though she stood a good distance away and in partial moonlight, if one listened and looked carefully, it could be sworn that her heart could be heard as it slapped against her ribcage and threatened to burst out.

The silence caught his attention more than anything else in the library. Relique had not spoken sense asking his question and that meant many things.
He turned to look for her but did not find her immediately. In fact he had to venture quite a ways away before stumbling upon her in the light of the moon. He watched her caught off guard by how lovely she had looked just then. He almost could have sworn she had angelic wings to complete that alluring effect.
Taking a deep breath he ventured forward the illusion shattered the moment he took his first step as he walked silently behind her. "What is the matter?" He questioned softly looking in the general area of where she was standing and staring. He didn't see what she did but perhaps felt it as he locked his gaze upon a the thick book. At that moment he knew what she was so transfixed on... the book? What did it mean? He didn't dare to move almost uncertain or fearful of the outcome. Perhaps it was Relique's essence over powering his own but he couldn't help but feel the apprehensiveness that came from gazing upon the book before them.

The sudden voice near her ear caused Relique to snap out of her stupor. She whirled around with a fwoosh in a flurry of milky sashes and hair, and when her single visible eye fell on Ennui, something in her broke.
It was like a dam crashing down, the wave of fear and apprehension flooding the immediate vicinity around her body like freezing water. Her heart banged and hammered against her chest and moved up into her throat as she opened and closed her mouth. Slender hands shook and the large tome she had been holding slid off her fingers and landed pages-down near her feet as her arms fell to her sides.
"You..." she sputtered, her words finally finding a way out. She stared up at Ennui as if she were looking at a ghost... or something much worse.
"It-it was you," she began to slowly shake her head side to side, her feet began to move her backwards. "You're fault... you... burning, drowning, screaming." Her words had become frantic and the fear raged on out of her body. Her hand found its way to her neck as she continued to move backwards and away from him.

The sudden change in Relique had caught Ennui completely by suprise. How was he supposed to react to such a change? He stepped forward only for her to step back which instinctively made him stop his movements. He could feel the fear exuding from her, wrapping around him and instinctively causing his own apprehensions to rise to the surface. There had never been a time that he could handle such emotions... it was that fact alone. He didn't know how to handle any emotions that weren't driven from him. When they washed over him he knew nothing more of what to do but disappear. And as he felt his own fears rise to the surface he could barely make out the figure of Relique standing before him. His mind was swimming with thoughts and ideas. Disappear.... It was all he could do, being scorned or hurt, the emotions were too much for him to handle and so he did what he only knew. "No ..." He simply disappeared. But it was not his body that left, it was in fact his very personality. As his features shifted in the dim lighting of the moon new features were presented to the Clockwork then. The figure opened blood shot eyes as he looked around realizing he was now free. A smile coming to his face that held no sense of actual mirth but a underlining warning of malice. He looked around wonder why he was in a library of all places. Thankfully the room was dim keeping his otherwise poor vision in tact. He then noticed the shimmering light of the moon drowning a figure in its glory. "Hm?" Arching a brow he cocked his head to the side wondering just who this person was. His mind clicked around trying to remember anyone from his previous passings. For now he couldn't recognize her but he felt that twinge he got from others like him. She was his kind and it disgusted him that she stood there ... wait... he sniffed the air and soon after a cackle cracked the silence. Fear. She was in fear he could smell it... he laughed with the mirth it took a mad man as he realized what a yummy treat had been presented before him. And then it hit him... "Ahhh. I remember now. My little angelic pet so you survived the times. How darling and yet we meet in such interesting circumstances. Tell me did you upset my boy?" He asked referring to his other persona. It was obvious she had triggered something in him or the figure before her would not have surfaced. Being free was always a welcome in some case he felt he owed the woman a slight head start before he began his rampage. Stretching his stiff limbs depsite himself he smiled wickedly eyeing the other. "Why are you still here? Do you not realize you're staring death straight in the eye?" He continued his smile as he approached her slowly at first but his steps were quicker then. Either way he was going to get her, so long had it been that he'd last sent her to her death. She was quite resourceful he realized and would do well to end her life quickly this time around.

Realizations of many different sorts spiraled about in the Sorrow's already buzzing mind. She recognized Seidus, remembered him and his voice from those many years ago, but she had not known that he had a counterpart to him. It explained feelings she got from Ennui, but also why she didn't hate nor actually fear him until she saw the book and him change.
Relique quickened her backwards pace as Seidus quickened his. However it wasn't long before she ran out of room and her back slammed against the wall. She was trapped like an animal in a corner... but like an animal in this given situation, her fear soon started to become fearful aggression.
"I've seen your eyes, Seidus," she began, her voice was shaky at first, but it strengthened with each word, "through the thin black bag that covered my head that night, and they hold no power of death, pain, or fear over what mind hold." When she finished, the hand that she had at her neck cupped the chin on her mask in a hopefully useful threat.
