After the defeat of Errol and the first Darkmaker ship, all seemed well in Spargus and the rest of the world. The Precursors have been rediscovered and now plan on winning the war. But who was to take the real credit for such feats? Daxter, being the overly confident ottsel that he was, felt that he was the true victor.
"I'm the one who always came up with the right ideas! I'm the one who found the Precursors! So I should be the hero!!" Daxter yelled at a near fuming Jak. Both Kiera and Tess made attempts to calm the two males, but both either ignored them completely or ordered them to stay out of it. For what seemed like weeks the two once best friends have been fighting and quarreling over who should recieve the credit and title 'Hero'.
"All you ever did was whine, complain, and sit back while I did all the work!" Jak would often retort. "It wouldn't be until after the mission was done when you would come out and say you did it!" Angry with each other, the two friends separated, Jak going to tend to matters of both Spargus and Haven City, and Daxter taking refuge in one of his private quarters in the palace of Haven.
......
Seem suddenly opened her eyes after a deep meditation in her temple. What was this vision? An entire armada of Darkmaker Ships, all out to get this planet as well as all others after it. A fuzzy, but familiar face kept appearing. She must warn Jak!
"The Darkmakers were destroyed, remember?" Jak scoffed after Seem came to him. "Even you said that there will be a long time of peace ahead."
"But Jak, Dark Eco can always find crevices to hide in and grow. We must prepare for a war," she warned.
Jak looked away for a moment to think. If anyone knew about Dark Eco it was him. The very thought of it made the evil substance surge through his veins. He turned to the soft spoken monk. "Go find the Precursors and tell them about your vision. I'll go back to Haven and warn Ashlin." Agreed, the two separated, Daxter now far from Jak's mind as he headed for Haven City.
As it turned out, even the wise old soothsayer Onin had recieved the very same vision, as was translated by her interpreter Pecker. "Dark shadows are hiding dis face. SQUAAAAKKK!! You had better make sure that everything is secure and your friends are safe." Pecker warned through Onin's hand movements.
It was then Jak's eyes widened. "Oh no, Dax!" He had completely forgotten about the ottsel. Even if they had a fight, it was no reason to let him be hurt. By the time Jak reached Daxter's private quarters in the palace, the ottsel was gone. "Daxter? Daxter!" he searched, but to no avail. Knowing that Daxter was at least smart enough not to run away into the Wasteland, Jak concluded that his furry friend was kidnapped. "Get the Precursors ready and prepare the Freedom League. We need to get ready for war!" Jak ordered.
