Title: Best Christmas Gift
Author: That would be me ^^
Pairings/Characters: Naruto/Hinata (light, fluffy), with a hint of Kiba
Rating: I'd say G
Does it have a plot?: Not really. biggrin Not many of my drabbles do.
Hinata bashfully took a seat on the couch next to Kiba as the music blared all around her. This party certainly was … interesting, to say the least. But what else would you expect? After all, the host was Kiba. And, knowing Kiba, anything goes. Even for a Christmas celebration.
“So, how ya enjoyin’ yourself, Hinata?” Kiba asked unhurriedly as he sipped at some fruit punch that was served at his so called “buffet” table. She’d bet any money it was spiked – she wasn’t going any where near that stuff tonight.
“… Um, I – I’m really starting to warm up to the music now, thanks,” Hinata politely replied, twiddling her thumbs in her lap, keeping her gaze down. “Thank you very much for inviting me, Kiba.”
“No sweat. Plus, Naruto specifically wanted you here … for somethin’ or other,” trailed of Kiba with a large yawn, throwing his arm behind the couch. “Beats me why, but I’m interested to know what it is. Can never tell with that guy. Anyway, I would have invited you either way. You’re my teammate, it’s what teammates and friends do, ya know?”
The dark haired girl blushed scarlet at the mention of Naruto wanting her there. She knew as much about that as Kiba. She thanked him again for his kindness in inviting her, and then left to mingle with the other guests. Shino was there, and Neji, too. He was dancing with Tenten, of all people, and looked like he was rather enjoying himself. Shino, on the other hand, was merely leaning against the nearest wall, unconcerned and observing from afar. Hinata nodded respectfully at her other teammate, about to walk over and make conversation when she noticed a flash of orange out of the corner of her eye.
“Ohayo, Hinata!” a loud, rowdy, overly enthusiastic voice greeted her.
Hinata bumped right into the blond’s chest, almost knocking them both over if Naruto hadn’t steadied her enough to keep on her feet. “T – thank you,” she said softly, a blush dusting her pale cheekbones once more this evening. “Naruto-kun? Why, um … did you have something you wanted to discuss with me?”
Naruto shrugged a little, and then smiled that bedazzling smile of his. “Well, you could say that. Look up.”
She did, slowly at first – and then her eyes widened with recognition when she saw the plant hanging above her head. “I – I’m sorry. Because I’m – I ‘m so clumsy … we’ve ended up in this situation … and I – I should have -”
Naruto smiled even more, if that were possible, and silenced her with his lips against her own. He wrapped his arms around her waist as he deepened the kiss a bit further. She started, eyes still wide and frightened, but did not reject the kiss. On the contrary, despite the complete spontaneity of the act, she was enjoying it, and tempted to kiss him back just as hard. But she wasn’t that daring, and so she only pull away, face flushed and lips parted in a slight pant.
“Merry Christmas, Hinata.”
And he walked away, turning only to smile one last time at her before he disappeared into the crowd again. Yes, that was the best present Christmas gift she could have ever hoped to receive. She touched her lips. And it was one she would never forget.
