Who here has read the original 1986 book Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones? It's quite different than the movie, and I prefer it very much.

I've read the book. For some reason, I can't choose between the movie and the book, even though the book has more depth to the story. I think it's because I love Miyazaki films. ^-^

I like the book better. She didn't harp on Howl's good points as much as just made you love him anyway. The movie seemed to push the fact he was a good guy. Besides, he's Welsh in the novel. heart

I like both--even though I haven't read the book yet but from what I've been hearing, I know the book goes more in depth than the movie does. Though, I love the movie more; I like to see books and such animated or acted out to get the entire full feeling. I like to see things in movement in general. 3nodding

I saw the movie 'cos of the book, not 'cos it was a Miyazaki film. I mean, if it was a Miyazaki film, I might have seen it... But since it was based on Diana Wynne Jones' book, I HAD to see it!
