IMPORTANT:
Pease read carefuly and understand the ENTIRE story line before joining.
This is a serious RP with a deep, and sometimes very subtle, story line. It is also an organic storylign that will grow to include and exploit what has happened in the RP.

Joining will not be denied anyone, but I do strongly reccomend that anyone who wants to join be serious about the roleplay and be able to cope without knowing exactly where the story is going. I promise that once the story gets started I will have no more idea than you, such is the nature of the organic storyline.

Any questions and comments i will be glad to deal with via PM, athough i do not promise that i can always reply promptly or, in cases regarding plot, thouroughly to all of your questions i do promist that i will answer them as fuly as i can as fast as i can.

And now without further ado, let us begin the RolePlay

In the land of Surdas, deep in the heart of the Gondowan mountain rumors and
tales of a terrifying wraith that inhabits the area abound. Some say that it is
the ghost of a soldier from a land long ago who lost his true love in war and
has been searching for her ever since. Others say that it is the transformed
body of a great wizard, trapped in a spell gone horribly wrong.

The stories are so common that the great queen of the realm herself, Queen
Sakura, has heard these tales and has dispatched a knight to investigate. Lady
Knight Ito is chosen for this task. As the first ever woman knight to graduate
the royal academy this is to be her first quest.

Along the road to the village of Kenshi, on the border of the land of Surdas Ito
encounters a strange man who has been trapped by a fallen tree. The man, who
identifies himself as Rowan, is wearing a seriously outdated style of armor and
carries the curved sword favored by the samurai of ancient legend.

For several days the two travelers share the road to Kenshi. Rowan is a
considerate travel companion, even if his maners and mode of speach are even
more outdated than his armor. He seems to have an incredible knowlege of the
history of the land, but is severely lacking in current afairs. Of the matter of
magic Rowan admits to a small skill and spends many hours entertaining Ito with
tricks of magic and illusion.

As the two near the village of Kenshi Rowan leaves the path and heads into the
woods surrounding the village saying that he has been away from home far too
long but that he will come to town in a ferw days and would enjoy sharing lunch
if Ito would be available.

Entering the village it is quickly apparent that Ito is not the only person
interested in the wraith inhabiting the local parts. An anonymous figure has
offered an enormous reward for the kill/capture/exorcism of the wraith and this
has lead to a large number of shamans, priests and bounty hunters to flock to
the village hoping to gain a piece of the reward.

That night, restocked with provisions and a choice bit of information by a
helpful shop keeper Ito sets up a stakeout near a hill topped with an enormous
rowan tree where the wraith is said to spend many a night looking at the stars.
Unfortunately she falls asleep halfway through the night and wakes with a start
as a figure garbed in white drapes a thick blanket around her shoulders.

Rowan: You should be careful Ito, In these mountains falling asleep outside is
just asking for trouble.

To answer a few quick questions before we start:
1) Yes, Rowan is a lot older than he appears to be. Several thousand years older
actually, which accounts for his unusually strong magical gift. Any other
character sharing a similar past must be approved ahead of time.
2) The shopkeeper who gave the info to Ito will likely sell that same info to others if asked

Magic users welcome, but powers must be within reasonable limits as the magical
blood has thinned considerably over the course of the tens of thousands of
years. No magical teleportation or anything super high powered like that, just
about anything else is alright but if in doubt ask first, ok? the same goes for
enchanted or magical weapons (more lieniant about relics. Swords (and other weapons) "live" a lot longer than their original owners in well over 99% of cases)

Bios:

Player: LordDragonFly
Name: Rowan
Age: Appears to be about 21, actual age unknown.
Weapon of choice: Reverse-edged Katana (Sakabatto, the blunt side where the
sharp should be and vise-versa)
Magic: Considerable strength in magic, spread across all elements and well
balanced, Rowan is much stronger than any modern magic user.
Personality: Rowan hates violence and will go out of his way to avoid a fight,
however if forced his prowess in battle is considerable and all but the best
swordsmen (or swordswomen) would be hard pressed to defend themselves. He is
gentle and kind, always willing to help a friend in need.

Rowan lives in a house constructed out of a living rowan tree that has grown to
incredible size. The inside of his home is nicely furnished, even if the
furniture is rather old. He has an extensive library that contains scrolls on
jusat about any subject one could name.

Due to Rowan's pacifistic nature he refuses to eat animal flesh.

Yes, to answer your questions, this Role Play is still open!
PostPosted: Fri Sep 28, 2007 8:13 am

Is this okay? I'll think of something else if it's not.

Player: Elesariin
Name: Kaori
Age: Appears to be about 16
Weapon of choice: Whatever she can find
Magic: She doesn't have any, as such, but strange things seem to happen around her on an alarmingly regular basis. Shadows seem to reach out to hide and protect her; people who have hurt her, even accidentally, tend to disappear if they don't religiously avoid darkness of any type. She has nothing personally to do with these incidents; they just happen, and she's learned it's easier not to think about it too much.

Personality: Kaori has lived on her own for as long as she can remember, and has lived in the city for that entire time as well. She doesn't like to talk, and avoids people. She doesn't really have a problem with people; they disappoint her on some level, but it's mostly a matter of job security. It's much harder to rob someone that you've talked to, and jobs go smoother if you keep all possibilities open.

Kaori is extremely agile, and excellent at armed and unarmed combat, although she would much prefer to run away. If a situation has escalated to the point where she's fighting, it's not worth it, whatever it is.

She sleeps wherever she thinks she is reasonably safe, and never in the same place twice.

Kaori fled along the rooftop, ignoring the shouts of alarm from the house behind her except to clutch the bag in her fist a little tighter. Taking a deep breath, she leaped across the gap between two houses and landed on the second roof with a perfect roll. Using the momentum, she sprang up and took two long strides, only to jump again. She landed on this roof with a second graceful roll, but this time, she got silently to her feet and slid into a dark room of the neighboring house.

Silently but swiftly she crossed the room and opened a dresser, seemingly unaware of the footsteps pounding past the cracked door.

"Where did he go, damn it?"

"I saw! He went out the window!"

"Well get after him! He has M'lady's entire jewelry collection!"

Kaori pulled out a dark servant's uniform, and dressed with a speed that suggested much practice. Holding the bag in her teeth, she carefully pulled her hair into a practical knot at the back of her skull. She reached into the dresser again, and pulled out a largish sack, the sort that was used for laundry all around the city. Kaori put her bag in on top of some clothes already inside the sack, then put some more clothing in on top of it.

Wrapping her arms around the sack, she ran to the door and pulled it open, her face confused and frightened. "What's happened?" she asked a lady's maid who was running past.

"It's none of your business," said the maid severely, "Return to work."

"Yes, ma'am," murmured Kaori, looking at the floor and walking past. In the midst of all the chaos, no one else looked twice at her. She walked calmly out the servant's entrance and onto a street, smiling to herself.

A slight scuffling sound gives Kaori barely a seconds warning before a hand comes down on her shoulder. The hand belongs to a tall man dressed in a dark cloak.

Rowan: That wasn't a nice to do you know. That wasn't nice at all.

Rowan then lets go of Kaori's shoulder and walks off down the street towards the outskirts of town.

Kaori stared after the man, looking distinctly unnerved, then seemed to pull herself together. Gripping the bag in her arms, she disappeared into crowd on the street.

Later, after dropping off the goods with her contact, she lay on the roof of some family house on the edge of town and frowned up at the stars. How on earth had he known? She'd been perfect; she was always perfect. And even more puzzling, why hadn't he alerted anyone?

After a second, the answer came to her. He was probably one of those religious-types, and was trying to make her see the error of her ways through his mercy. She rolled her eyes and pulled her blanket up to cover her shoulders. Some people.

This time there is no warning of the strangers approach.

Rowan: Why did you do it I wonder? It cannot be because you lack for food or shelter. Your skills would land you in good stead anywhere you looked for work.

Rowan is sitting next to Kaori, cross legged and wrapped in his cloak as if he had been there for quite some time already. There is an ornate staff lying next to him but even so his voice and posture seem to indicate that he intends no harm.
