Most of us are here to improve the quality of our lives, so why not do it in the spirit of competition! This will be a challenge against yourself, and of course a challenge to other members of this guild. We are going to track down, assist and motivate each other's progress as we achieve our goals no matter how small or how big it is. This thread will help summarize each other's progress into a simple format. Goal(s): Last Update: Start date: When you started the goal. Finish date: When do you want to finish it. Time remaining: How much time before Finish Date comes? Starting level/statistics: What was your level when you started: how much weight could you carry, how fast could you run, etc. Update level/statistics: What is your level currently? Progress %: Current Level/ Goal x 100% Example 100lbs/ Comments: Link to Fitness Log This organizes your goal and its progression. This will help others see how you're doing and help you see how others are doing as well. We could then help and motivate each other to achieving our goals. PM me your info so I can put here on the first page. Now to our challengers, organized in alphabetical order. Quote: Euphoric GhostLast Update: Oct 1, 2007 Goal(s): 200lb bench press/ 50lb bicep curl/ Lose 50 lbs Start date: Sept 3, 2007/ Sep 3, 2007 / Oct 1 Finish date: February 3, 2008/ November 3, 2007/ August 1, 2008 Time remaining: 126 days / 34 Days / 306 days Starting level/statistics: 135lbs / 30lb / 0 lbs Update level/statistics: 145 /40 / - Progress %: 73% / 80% / 0%: Comments:I’m thinking I could improve at the very least 10 lbs per month on bench press and bicep curl. 5 pounds a month sounds reasonable, we'll see since I'm bulking up. We could make a thread with the summarization of our fitness logs, and see how we're improving. Each person who joins in can have a progress "bar" of sorts. But the details of this would be of course found in their fitness logs/diaries. Example Quote: Goal: Bench press 200lbs by the end of the year Progress last 4 weeks: 130, 130, 140, 140 Progress %: 140/200 x 100%= 70% Time left: 3 months At least this way, those participating have to be here at least once a week to tell you or who ever is running the thread what has happened and if they improved. Do you think we should make some kind of template for the logs as well? I know not a lot of people are going to be detailed, but at least provide them with skeleton. It could include SMARTer goals or the tables in your How To Get Fit thread in Fitness subforum. The thread and the skeleton can help organize information. Each one of us can give each other support and information on how much we're improving. If see that a person is coming to plateau then we could give him/her pointers on how to go beyond it and such. biggrin

Goal(s) Start date Finish date Time remaining How you are going to achieve that goal (quick overview) Starting level/statistics Update level/statistics Progress % Comments

If it's something like increasing the amount of pushups you can do. Well you may be aiming for 40, but your starting stat/level is only 5.
Basically where you started at.
And for updating, could be 2 weeks through and you are up to 10 pushups.
So:
Starting level/statistic: 5 Update level/statistic: 10
Couldn't think of a better word for level or statistic.

Goal(s): 200lb bench press/ 50lb bicep curl / lose 50lbs of body weight. Start date: Sept 3, 2007 Finish date: February 3, 2008/ November 3, 2007/ May 3, 2008 Time remaining:Starting level/statistics: 135lbs / 30lb/ 0lbs lost Update level/statistics: - / - / - Progress %: 66% / 6% / 0%: Comments:I’m thinking I could improve at the very least 10 lbs per month on bench press and bicep curl. Now losing 10 lbs per month is going to be kind of difficult because I am weight training, thus gaining muscle mass. It’s a side goal. We’ll see how it goes after 5 months. We could have one thread where we could watch each other and give comments. With the link there, people can look in the fitness log for more details. biggrin Maybe we could call the thread the BMS Challenge. hehehe.

Anyone? No one? Haha. I actually had this thread say BMI challenge for awhile, not BMS. Haha. Well I'm progressing slowly, except for the losing weight part which was expected. Bulking up does not make you lose weight. I'm getting stronger though, I think. And I've been trying to workout more of my body with new exercises.

well I'm gaining weight. Haha, but getting stronger. Assuming I put 5 lbs for the bar I use for bench press, I can press 145, but still trying to do it 36 times. As for bicep curls I can definately do 40lbs, I'm going to try doing 50lbs soon. biggrin So I'm doing it almost a month early.

My fitness goal is a bit more general, not so specific. All I need is a good fitness level, so I'm estimating what that level needs to be.Goal(s): Acceptable Fitness for my next Karate Grading/Run 6km/40 pushups on palms, 20 pushups on knuckles, 100 situps Start date: 19th August Finish date: Sometime between mid-Nov to mid-Dec (probably mid-Dec)/December 25th/mid-Nov to mid-Dec Time remaining: 6-10 weeks/12 weeks/6-10 weeks Starting level/statistics: Weight: 70kg/Running fitness: 500m (3 min)/Pushups (p): 20, Pushups (k): 6, Situps: 20 Update level/statistics: Weight: 68kg/Running fitness: 1500m (9 min)/Pushups (p): 25, Pushups (k): 8, Situps: 40 Progress %: Improving, but not as much as I'd like to Running: 200%/Pushups (p): 25%, Pushups (k): 30%, Situps: 100% Comments: I'm gettting there, but not quickly, I know it takes time, but fitness wise, I get there slowly, strength wise I get there quickly. Rather other way around Link to Fitness Log

Wow 6k, I think running is going to be my next goal as well. I'll start after I get used to a new schedule since classes just began again. I can do 1600 meters in about 12 minutes, but I haven't really been running, so I get tired after. I used to do 3.2k in 25 minutes. biggrin I should do knuckle push ups as well. Hrm. Haha.

Most I've ever ran non-stop is about 3, maybe 4km. My aim has always been to be able to run around the local lake with out stopping for ages. It's 6km and I've never made it yet. Tried training casually for it twice and haven't got there.
I'm not a runner at all, so it's a goal that will be staying there for a while I think.
Not worried about time at the moment though. Will just be happy to make the distance smile
Knuckle pushups are hard, haven't started them on the floorboards at the dojo yet. All the guys have to, the females don't, but thought I should start. Just doing it on the carpet at the moment for some cushoining.

I'm not a runner either, I used to be in cross country though (which I always got last place for). Haha. I remember during courses where a part of it was running around the track, usually when the (American) football players would be practicing, they would tell me to join. I did try joining the team at my school, I just couldn't stand the other athletes. They were just too immature? XD
I never thought about surfaces for the knuckle push ups. I could do it on the carpets, but I haven't tried on cement or tiles.

Bench and bicep is looking good. Bicep might be a little hard, but we'll see. I know I can do 50 lbs, but not perfectly, meaning, my form isn't good. Bench is kind of scary, knowing that if I can bench 200 lbs, I can bench 100 lbs or 45.3 kg each arm.
I'm going to start running, which I just found might be difficult, especially on tuesdays since I'll be spending a lot of my time in school.
I added a Last Update space of the mini goal boxes. Oh yeah I found a site that can calculate the number of days between two dates. biggrin
