We, the members of the Novos party, believe in...
the inherent equality of man
freedom and justice for for all
the right to education
free access to information
a minimum standard of living for all people
...or not.

Democracy in what form though? and do we really want it? Surely the end goal of this party is maintain it's possition as the single ruling party of earth. If we manage, as we plan, to create a fair governament that is for the good of the people, what use is a method of removing us from power? Could the pursuit of democracy through holding a referendum on every issue be worthwhile?

The way to have a fair government is to have one in which the people are free. This means free to choose. If we give no way for our government to be changed or abolished if necessary, that makes us no better than tyrants. Besides, all governments eventually become less effective as time goes on. I feel the United States government is wearing out, because it was written over two hundred years ago, by people dealing with issues of their time. Yet the issues now have changed. Who's to say that if our government is ever created, it will remain effective forever?
That was a lengthy explanation. sweatdrop To summarize: I like the idea of allowing for change.

Rather than a rather loaded term like democracy, I think all of us believe in:
"A government which is readily capable of nonviolent change by its populace."
Democracies, republics, representative governments, and many modern socialist systems all fall under this heading (I hope).

To quote my favorite move: "People should not fear their governments. Governments should fear their people."
Bonus brownie points if you can name the movie.
