In one episode of Futurama, Fry's brother Yancy opens a safe using play-doh and a lighter. Will that actually work?

I think it's just a play off of plastic explosives, which is much like Play-Doh. I would seriously doubt that the company would be in business if it was that explosive. However, with the way Fry's dad seems to be, he could have mixed up the two...

Perhaps it was explosives hidden in a Play-Doh package. Seeing how Fry's father is so afraid Commies are gonna hit again, he might have tried to hide some and then if he ever needed it...there it was.
