My husband is leaving around January for his second tour with his current unit. And I am a Reserve MP without any orders and 5 years left to go. After this deployment, my husband's contract will be done in the Army.

Now that the background is laid out, I can discuss the issue at hand.

The other day, my husband came home from work and said, "what would you say if I Re-enlisted now as an MP and we went Active Duty together?"

He explained that there was a chance that if he re-enlisted with a different MOS, than he could possibly get out of this deployment. The only problem is if the unit gets a "stop-motion" put on it any time before his classes/AIT, then he would be stuck deploying with his current unit and that it would take several years to get classes rescheduled. Meaning that he would have to stay with his unit until the contract is up again and get deployed every other year (again).

Now, I've come to the realization that I would absolutely love if he became an MP with me. I would gladly go active duty if he did.

It seems that he won't be re-enlisting before this deployment, but I'm not sure that I'll want him to go ahead with it after he comes home. But with the way I feel about it right now, I think it's a wonderful idea.

Sorry for the wall of text, but if I could get all of your opinions and ideas, I would really be greatful.

Sounds like a good idea if thats what you want to do. My husband wanted me to go into his MOS but I decided against it. He's a higher rank than me. I wouldn't want the transition day after day going from taking orders from your husband to family life at home where its totally different. Thats just me.
