Astroth laid in a corner of the sands absorbing in the heat they ratiated. Some months before she had laid a small clutch consisting of about fifteen eggs with the queen egg laying between her front legs; she had flown at the height of the epidemic, thus greatly affecting the size of her clutch.
As she surveyed her work, the queen noticed small cracks on the surface of some of the eggs. It was time! With that, she began humming.

Emra arrived on the sands at a dead run. She'd been alone in the candidites barracks when she'd heard the humming of the queen and quickly changed into her white Impression robes and came here. She knew this hatching could possibly change her life forever. She stopped as she spotted the large queen dragon.
Quickly she bowed to the queen and her rider before taking her place on the sands. 'I'm so nervous, I hope things go well.'

The first egg began to surge and crack before finally reveling a bronze dragonet. What a good sign this was for the desparate Weyr! The young king wove in and out of the male candidates before headbutting one name Devvan.
"Of course I'll feed you, Booth!" D'van exclaimed in response to whatever his dragonet had said.
About the same time the bronze Impressed as small green had quietly emerged from her egg and busied herself in getting stray pieces of shell off her emerald hide.

((Alright that's fine. I did try to get TheUnicornGirl to post for the hatching but I guess she's not answering my posts.))
Emra's eyes widened as the first among the candidites impressed. A bronze! and what a magnificent creature. 'My heart is beating so hard. I hope nothing goes wrong.' The young candidite was fairly shaking, rather from excitement or fear, she didn't know.

The green finished her preening at last and set out to find her other half. Just as she was about half way towards the female candidates a loud crack startled her. The new queen had finally decided to make her appearence.
The green, non-too-thrilled that the gold had interupped her, turned and hissed. The young gold did nothing but give her smaller sister a hard stare, but this seemed enough to silence the green. Apparently the gold dragonet was going to be one for order and obiedience.
Thoroughly chastised, the green resumed her mission, quickly Impressing Eva, a girl with dark sapphire eyes.
I am ashamed of my actions.
"There is no need to be my dear Nylath. She nearly took your moment." Eva crooned, glancing over to where the queen was wandering.
((It's fine, I might just go ahead and assume that her characters are here and allow them to Impress. For the record, Eva is going to be one of my characters.))

Emra's eyes widened. Three eggs only had hatched and already a gold hatchling had made an appearance. Her two firelizards had finaly made an appearance on the sands as well.
Her blue Mori was chirping inquisitively at the new hatchlings. Her little gold Rain though, seemed more interested in not getting eaten by the larger adult dragons and was keeping an eye on them for the protection of both herself and her brother Mori.

After the prodding of many minds, the young gold finally found one worthy of her and stood directly in front of Emra.
There is no need to be nervous anymore, mine. I am here now. She crooned in a soft voice. The new queen seemed to have a kind heart that would love everything good. Perhaps she would teach her rider how to respect all things.

Emra's mouth came open slowly in awe. A gold dragon had chosen her! She didn't know rather to laugh or to cry. "Oh Tarith, I can't believe you chose me. I..." The new goldrider knelt then next to her new life partner and hugged the gold around her small neck. She was crying for the first time since she was very young.
Tarith's gentle voice whispered through her mind. Please don't cry Emra. Tell me what's wrong.
Emra only smiled and tried to stop crying. 'It's nothing, I'm just so happy. I never thought I'd deserve... I mean...'
Tarith seemed to understand then. It's alright Emra, you deserve me, I want no other.
Emra nodded then finally dried her face and went to gold feed the small gold that would now trail at her side for the rest of her life.

Two more greens quickly emerged from their shells closely followed by two blues and a brown.
One green ran straight from her place to one slender young man, knocking him over in the process and leaving a few cuts.
"No, I'm fine Zalbeth, thank you." The young man, S'jen, said reassuringly.
One of the blues had also found his lifemate in a boy now called L'nin who announced that the blue's name was Turath.

((*bangs head against wall* Sorry that I haven't finished this up and continued on. RL has been pretty hard on my and I've been sick for the last week as well. When I have time later in the week I'll finish this up and all that.))
