If anyone has any ideas of books, etc. just add it. Please make sure that they are reliable ressources.

I have four books that I would like to recommend to guild members or to anyone that may need information to help them make a decision in their lives.

1) How to Spot a Dangerous Man Before You Get Involved - Sandra L. Brown, M.A.
In this guide, she provides tools that could help women save their own lives:
+ the character and behavior of eight types of dangerous men
+ why women make themselves vulnerable to dangerous men
+ how to take an honest inventory of your own dating behaviors
+ the eleven signs of a bad dating choice
+ how to make your own "do-not-date" checklist
+ how to develop a support system for safe dating
+ how to get out of a relationship with a dangerous man

2) On the Down Low - J.L. King
King, who is "on the down low" himself, gives women insight on "Down-Low Brothas", the secret and potential deadly secret lives of "straight" men who have sex with other men, often putting the women in their lives in danger of HIV among other things.

3) No Secrets, No Lies: How Black Families Can Heal from Sexual Abuse - Robin D. Stone
This is self-explanatory.

4) I Will Survive - Lori S. Robinson
This is an African-American guide to healing from sexual assault and abuse.

I know that a lot of these are aimed at African-American women, but I'm sure that these can benefit all women

Another book was brought to my attention today. Here it is:

Breaking the Cycle - Zane (ed.)

These stories capture the dangerous realities of domestic abuse, while also pointing toward the steps that need to be taken to break the cycle that perpetuates it. It is sure to serve as a rallying cry for all those who desire victory over their own victimization, and a guide for understanding the complex undercurrents that make such patterns possible.

Books:

Ditch That Jerk! Dealing with Men Who Control and Hurt Women - Pamela Jayne, M.A.

Free Yourself from an Abusive Relationship: Seven Steps to Taking Back Your Life - Andrea Lissette, M.A.

When Violence Begins at Home: A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding and Ending Domestic Abuse - K.J. Wilson, Ed. D
