Khayal eased herself down the tree trunk until she could reach the soft soil below. She stepped tentatively onto the muddy earth, and let herself adjust to the feeling of it beneath her paws. It had been a while since she had come down here, far from her tree-hollow towering high above, and so she suddenly felt lost without bark to cling on to. Taking a deep breath, she took a step, and wobbled slightly as gravity protested the flat surface. Determined, she sucked in another deep breath and plowed forward through the rain.

Her body dipped with each step, eerily reminding her of the danger she was now in. It didn't seem so long ago that she had walked this very path, where a predator had revealed itself from the shadows, giving her the nasty limp. She cast a nervous glance from side to side, picking up her pace. Although it seemed nature was on her side tonight, pelting the area with rain and eveloping it with a thick darkness, she could never be too careful.

Uneasily climbing through the tree branches a dark shout shadow crept around above most of the vegetation. Creaking noises wisped past the small figure's fur, making every inch of him stand on end.

"Hello?"

He called out in a quiet sound. The rain drained it out as he had anticipated, but yet he tried to call out again. After all, he hadn't any clue where he was and what was above or below him, and this weather wasn't helping his senses find their way home...which ever way that was.

Khayal continued on, her mind racing. Herbs, herbs, herbs, the voice in her head chanted, and yet every few steps, she stopped perfectly still and scanned the rainy landscape before padding further.

It wasn't that she was unusually afraid or thought herself helpless. She had a high hope that her misleading wild-dog pelt would scare off potential danger, anyways. No, she was sure of that; it wasn't fear. It was... caution.

She froze when a sound broke its way through the roar of rain. Was that a voice? Khayal lowered herself further into the mud and shifted her head slightly to examine the trees, bushes, sky... but to no avail. It was completely dark.

"Who's that?" she hissed.

Liu heard a odd reply, at least what he thought was part of one. Hoping he or she was pleasant and helpful the kit bounced around, maybe a little too much for that particularly rainy night. Looking around himself the small bodied boy wondered where the voice had came from. For as big as the forest in which they lived was, it could've very well have been a echo. He bounced, off to one more branch, at least that's what he thought.

'Where...where'd the branches go?'

All of a sudden there was no longer something under his padded feet. As the rain fell, so did he. Liu was damp and lost and now he was falling from the tree branches, letting out a yelp as he hit the ground it felt abnormal. This ground wasn't grassy or muddy, instead it was furry and wetter than he was. Slipping off to the side he tilted his head to stare up at an older tokoro, a large female. The shadowy darkness was giving him issues to see much more, but her figure was very defined, she was much larger than him. Hoping she was somewhat friendly he attempted to apologize for his landing on her.

"Um...I'm sorry miss. I didn't mean to fall on you...."

Khayal jumped at the sudden contact, letting out a screech. She whirled around and reached out to pin the smaller creature, before the realization sunk in that it was just a young Tokoro. A clumsy one, at that.

The fur that had fluffed up around her shoulders fell flat, and she let out a sigh of both relief and annoyance. She sputtered, trying to decide how to respond. Her first instinct was to yell and scold the fluffy thing, but her second over-ruled. Barely. The healer within her was filled with concern, and so she decided to tolerate the little beast.

"Watch yourself," she muttered, peering at him with squinted eyes through the rain.

"Now, are you hurt? Let me take a look."

Standing up a little startled by the earlier screech the older female had released Liu shook off some of the wet droplets and shook his head, smiling up at her in a sort of daze.

"I'm fine,"

He laughed akwardly, trying to lighten the reactions of both just a little.

"...You kinda' broke my fall..."

His blue eyes were darkened by the night, even his body, while still fairly dark in shade seemed almost pitch black. Sighing a little he looked around, wondering if this female was with anyone else, or what she was doing out so late. Sounds from the creeking trees above them made Liu's short bits of red hair stand up on end, afterall night time in this forest was no place for a small creature like himself.

"I'm lost I guess..."

He muttered, looking down at his paws and the wet leaves that crunched underneath them.

"I can see that," Khayal said, making a point of straightening herself.

Despite the younger Tokoro's claims, she proceeded in examining him. She circled around him once, checking for bruises. She leaned in to take a subtle sniff of his fur, breathing in the feint scent of Api mingling with the rain.

"Move each paw," she commanded, stepping away from him to run a careful eye over their surroundings before returning her focus to the boy. "And hurry with it as best as you can. We shouldn't be out in the open like this. It's not safe," she hissed.

As Liu spoke, Khayal smirked. "You fell out of the trees. You don't appear to know which way you're going. You're lost, pup."

Despite it all, she couldn't help but laugh.
