o-O though I'm sure some people are psyched about this and others are utterally depressed what do you think the Planeswalkers will do to the game in general?
IMO, I really hope sometime down the line they add Garth the One eye 3nodding I dun care if he sucks I just want the darn card. ;-; My favorite 'walker in the entire world of Magic.

I personally think they look rather stupid. I don't see myself using them too much. I don't think they'll be horribly unbalanced, but I can see some of them seeing tournament play (though the ones I've seen are a bit slow, so I'm guessing that aggro will probably not be a huge fan of them.) I can see control and combo using them as a nice diversion. I'm personally hoping that they end up not lasting past the Lorwyn block, as I'd rather see them left out of Magic.

n-n I just think the new development team is trying to make a name for themselves.
and upon closer examination, aren't planeswalkers supposed to .. walk through the planes? I don't really see ho that Green walker would seeing as how unnatural it might seem to him.
You never know - the red walker might be better at agro.. Maybe it'll be like a Jaya Ballard minus the mana costs of the abilities (as they need no mana to activate their abilities - something I like about them).
I wouldn't mind seeing where they can go with this - I welcome change in this game and whether this idea flops or not is totally up to the development team. n-n

Lilana, is nice. I dislike the green one, and I haven't seen the blue one yet and the other two haven't been released.

Liliana is a no-brainer addition to a whole slew of black decks. Discard and madness are obvious ones here, and maybe even Bad Moon decks will take a stab at it.
Garuk is great, but has low loyalty. It can untap two lands the first turn it's out, which in green could easily mean something like Call of the Herd (with a Utopia Sprawl or something). The next turn, COTH gets flashed back, and either more free untaps for something big, or drop a nice solid 3/3. The best part is that it can use its "big" move the second turn it's out. It's a good combo card with Magus of the Candelabra and green token decks, and could even see some Extended play with Doubling Season.
That being said, I doubt the planeswalkers will get much further than Extended. They're a bit slow for their price. I still think they're stupid, though.

Ya I'm going to try to make a deck around the walkers, doubleing season, clock turning, or what ever it's called.
and work the abilities for that. I think it'd be a nice fun one for FNM

o-o does anyone think they'll remain legal? <-< Like are they overwhelmingly powerful..? IMO, no - not for how the novels make them out to be but in the right deck I'm sure they'd kick some butt. Especially if you can get one of them out early, protect it enough to build up its loyalty and then use its abilities from there ( also using [insert buffing card here] to increase the effectiveness of them. )

I think it'd be a nice fun one for FNM Yeah, but FNM is a Type II tournament. And Doubling Season will not be in Type 2 by the time the planeswalkers go legal. You'll have to dip into Extended for that. No, I don't think they'll be broken. They're relatively slow and the ones we've seen so far are within 1-2 burn spells of death when they come into play. That should prevent them from dominating the metagame. They should see play, though.

Mooby, the black 'walker is too slow for a bad moon deck. Bad moon/MBA/Suicide black/Black aggrorack want them dead before they could afford to play her usually.
Among other reasons, the 'walkers bother me because they're another step in the devolution of the game. Around the Urza and Masques block the game stopped creating the story and the story began driving the game. This doesn't seem too bad at first glance, but it adds a lot of cheese to the game. It can be good in some ways, but in others it's bad.

The blue 'walker works great in control decks, since he allows for card draw and milling if you can get enough counters on him. I use the black 'walker in b/g/u combo deck, since she can tutor for anything at the cost of 2 loyalty counters. While they are a bit expensive, with the right amount of mana acceleration, you can get either of them out relatively quickly. The only problem is keeping them on the board once their out. ninja
