I recently bought two different lyres for my flute. One straps to my arm, the other to the flute.

Now, I bought the one that clips to the flute because the other one is awkward. The problem is, with music attached, it flops down. I also cannot find a good place to clips it without it being out of my line of vision or in the way of my playing.

So, how do you properly attach one of these lyres?

I use a fluteists friend. Its the one that straps to your arm... I don't know how to attach the one that clips to your flute but I think I can solve your music - flopping problem... if you buy a flipfolder, it should prevent the flopping and you just turn the page to the next song. You can also just memorize your music and then you don't need a lyre at all when your marching so the vision - blocking problem is solved. Then just use if your your stands music. Thats what my band does.

I actually have a flip folder. It makes the lyre so heave I can't play right.
In any case, I gave up on the clip on lyre, and went back to my Flutists Friend. ♥

I appreciate it so much more now.

Yeah, not only does the clip on lyre flop around...but I would think it would sratch up the finish on the flute. I had a thrumb rest that did that to my flute. Now I don't put anything on it. My whole flute section was forced to get Flutist Friends. *rolls eyes* I don't like those either. But they are so much better than the clip ons.

Every year, the flutes memorize all of the musice while the rest of the band uses flip folders. That was until we got a new director.

We have the arm ones as well but we always memorize our show stuff during band camp and for games, we put them in our laps because they are way too uncomfortable. lol. Plus, they always cut off the circulation in my arm, no matter how much I adjust it.
