Even if you've read the manga up until now, you probably don't know this. It's still technically a theory at this point, but there's at least a 95% chance of this being true. Wow...I thought you were kidding me when you told me about this in school...it's amazingly accurate and fits perfectly! Incredible! I even read it twice to make sure I read it right the first time! WOW! eek

The most accepted theory on Tobi is that he's Madara's soul in Tobi's body, which is why Tobi goes from clueless and stupid to evil and maniacal, depending on who's in control of the body. After Madara's soul was but in the body, Obito's memories were lost, and Madara gained the ability to take over whenever he wanted to.
As for the whole story about the Tengu, it's been proven to be true so far in recent chapters, with the fact that Madara is able to summon the Kyuubi, and that he did fight Shodai at the Valley of End.

When is it proved that he can summon kyuubi?!? Also, slight hole, when Tobi was in maniac mode and he revealed his sharingan, he referred to it as Uchiha Madara's power. I dont think he'd refer to himself in the third person if it really was Madara. It's still an excellent theory though, and could very well be true

It was implied that Madara could summon the Kyuubi in Chapter 370.
