While Primus is indeed a rock band, most specifically funk-metal or alternative metal, the exact genre to put them in is extremely difficult and so they have been given their own genre called Primus. The band has achieved decent success with their first 4 albums which spawned hits such as "Jerry Was A Racecar Driver", "John The Fisherman" and "Mr. Krinkle".

Until recently, the band's catchphrase was "Primus Sucks".

You have to give them credit for that. They've been influential to several other bands out there. Not to mention Les Claypool (Singer and bassist) has got to be one of the best bassists of all time
