Lyner sat on a bench in a small little park. It was bright and sunny out and he squinted a bit a the brightness. He was hoping to run into Hikari so she could teach him how to read. The problem was that he had no clue on where to begin on finding her. He sigh in frustration at his dilema.

Hikari had attention absorbed into a book as she walked down the path in the park, paying no mind to the people around her. She was going to be fine...right? Her eyes scanned the lines quickly, before advancing onto another page. Unfortunately for her, Hikari was paying no attention at all to the road ahead. Unable to avoid a rock, she felt her body fall down, hitting the stones implanted in the path. "O-ow..." Her eyes averted to a figure sitting on the bench in front of her. "A-ah...h-hi, L-Lyner." She felt herself blush in his presence, then remembered that she promised him a lesson on the Gaian language. Perhaps they could start here?

Lyner heard something fall close by. He looked to see that it was Hikari. "Hey, Hikari! Are you okay?" he called as he got up and went to her side. He quickly offered his hand to help her up. "you did hurt yourself did you?" he asked with a look of consern on his face.

Hikari winced a bit at the pain. "Y-yeah, I think I'll be fine..." She looked up from his hand to his face and blushed even harder, but took his hand anyways and pulled herself up. "S-sorry about t-that..." She stared down at her feet, a bit embarrassed about tripping like that in front of him. "O-oh...you w-wanted lessons o-on how to read...r-right?" Hikari inquired, changing the subject before it could start.

Lyner grinned down at her and patted her head. She really was cute. He tried his best to repress a blush that was forming on his face. "Oh, yes please." he replied with a nod. "We could sit over at the bench." He looked over at the now empty bench.

Hikari felt herself calm down a bit, but as Lyner pat her head, she felt her face reddening a bit with blush again. She shrugged it off as nothing, then looked over at where Lyner's gaze was directed to. "A-ah...okay..." She seated herself on one side of the bench, and brushed some dirt off her skirt. "S-so, what d-do you wanna start with?"

Lyner took a seat next to Hikari and took a moment to think. "Maybe the basics. Like the letters of the alphabet?" he asked. Now he felt like he was stupid. He could feel his face heat up in embarassment. It wasn't his fault that he didn't know the Gaian language. He only knew his own language from he was orginally from, but he wanted to blend in with everyone so he wouldn't do something stupid or sound stupid. There were so many things that he had yet to learn from this place. Aftall, it was far different from his own.

"Hm...the letters. Well, the first letter is A. It's also a vowel - the other vowels are E, I, O, and U." Hikari looked around for an object whose name started with the letter 'A'. "Like...this apple." She reached out for an apple hanging delicately on a tree branch. It rolled around in her hands for a while, before she tossed the fruit to Lyner. "There's 2 ways to say the vowel; a like in apple, the shorter sound, or a like in able, the longer sound." She hoped she was making sense; she didn't want to sound too...weird around Lyner. Hikari pulled out a pen from her pocket and clicked it, but due to the fact that she was devoid of paper at the moment, ended up scribbling the letter on her hand. "Capitilization's used for beginning sentences and names...like...Amour! Lowercases are for the other letters of the sentence." She pointed at the letters written onto her hand, before scrambling to her feet. "Maybe we should walk around; we'll find more stuff that way?"

Lyner nodded as he tried to soak up all the information. He caught the apple that was throw to him. He took a bite out of it and smirked. It was sweet. He looked down at Hikari's hand as she wrote the letter on his hand. "Okay." he said with a nod as he went through his own language and matched the two together in his head. He looked up at her as she scrambled to her feet. "All right." he replied with a smile and stood up.

Hikari smiled, and began to walk down the path. "The next letter's B..." She looked around, scanning her surroundings, and bent down at the sight of a bush. "B for berry!" She plucked a few shining berries off the bush, before rising into a standing position and staring at them. Using her scarf, she wiped them, before popping one into her mouth. "Here, you try!" Hikari held out her hand and offered the berries to him. "They're pretty sweet." She smiled again; this would be pretty fun. "C's pretty simple...C for cat!" Hikari pointed to herself, then at Lyner, giggling a bit.

Lyner silently follwed after Hikari as he let her lead the way. Lyner took a look at the berries that Hikari had picked. He took one with his right hand and popped it into his mouth. She was right, they were sweet. He laughed at her next comment at pointing at themselves. "You do have a point." he replied as he mental stored the letters into his brain. He sure was having fun laerning wich was rare for him to do.

Hikari continued down the path, searching for another item to match the next letter. "Oh! D...is for dog." She pet a little Mochi puppy owned by a Gaian that was walking by. Again, she wrote the letters on her hand, and showed them to Lyner so he knew what they were talking about. Hikari skipped down the path a bit more, then pointed at a random Gaian delivering mail across the street. "E...envelope!" She squished another letter onto her palm, before sitting down at the edge of a pond. Hikari watched her reflection, until some fish swam by and disturbed the water. "F...fish? I guess that works." She poked a finger into the water, making them dash away, but return after she receded her hand. With the wet finger, she drew the letters on a nearby stone sitting around the pond.

Lyner watched Hikari pet the dog. He smiled as he looked at her hand to look at the letter. He stored it away in his head. He was already beginning to like this language. It was fun to learn as long as you had Hikari as a teacher. He paused in his musing to watch her stick her hand into the pond to point out the fish.

Hikari pondered for the objects that matched the letters. "G...is...for grass!" She patted the patches of green grass lying around them. "H...h... H is for hugs!" She leaned closer to Lyner and wrapped his arms around him in a hug. "Oh; H is for Hikari too!" She giggled a bit and moved on; she was having quite a time with Lyner.

Lyner couldn't resist laughing as Hikari had him hug himself. "People would think I liked myself too much if I did this a lot." he replied with a chuckle. He quickly follwoed after Hikari. She seemed to be having fun wit hthis as well.
