I've decided to make this a permanent addition to the guild. I really enjoyed hearing what everyone had to suggest thus far, and I'd like for it to continue. It's productive, and it's important for you guys to have your say, and this is the place to do it.
Any questions, comments or suggestions are welcome.
Original Post: As the title says. It has come to my attention that this guild has been moving exceedingly un-smoothly. Enough so that members have felt so unwelcome that they decided to leave the guild, and other members, even those most active, have felt that their input was unwanted.
This is not good, just to clarify. Slytherin, yes. Nasty people-haters, not so much.
Thus, as a last-ditch effort, I am creating this. Tell me, please, your thoughts on how the guild has been run so far, and any suggestions for improvement. Everyone is welcome to post as much or as little as they want in this thread, and we're going to try to make some communal descisions.
One of the more important issues to comment on is, I think, the contreversy over spam / off-topic posts. I want your honest opinions, please and thanks, and no one will be judged for anything they say here.
When I return from internetlessness, I shall engage in further discussion with you all about anything that is brought up.
Thank you.

<[[ Your fury and your glory and your deepest, darkest fears... |---> Well:
I don't actually have much of a problem with the way you run things, Kat. I know Finora and I can be a little trying at times because of our tendencies to post a lot, not all of it on topic, but I think you've been as tolerant of that as you could have been.
One thing I don't like, however, is being told by members of the guild's modsquad to stay on topic even though said people don't join discussions themselves. Basically, I think that makes their posts something like spam, because saying something like, "Ahem! *Points to topic title*" over and over again doesn't exactly contribute positively. That annoys the hell out of me.
I suppose I've been a little snarky towards you and Diana recently, but that's mainly because I just don't get why your attitudes have changed all of a sudden. This used to be my favourite place to hang out online, but the atmosphere here has changed to the extent that I mainly post here now just to keep in touch with Havoc and Finora, neither of whom are active in any other guilds I frequent (and you can read that as TLS and the Captain's Guild). I think that when things get to the stage where your three most active members hardly post any more, things are not going well for you.
How to fix things? I actually don't know. I'd be happy to take the guild off your hands because I've had some captaining experience before, but the guild would still have some of the same problems under my captaincy, so I don't know to what extent that would help. Mainly, I would suggest that you and Diana start contributing to the discussions that we do have going instead of just standing over us and saying "stay on topic!" over and over again. Maybe then things will go back to how they were before, which - all things considered - can only be an improvement.
<---| Cheer up, emo kid. ]]>

Honestly I love you guys and I love this guild but lately it has been driving me crazy! Half our forums are blocked for no apparent reason and they contributed tons to the conversations. I am sorry that members are leaving but I can't see why. It's like Shadow and Finora told me, just jump into a convo and you're in. Finora hasn't been on in a while so it's been mainly myself and Shadow posting, fun but getting a bit boring. NO one expects this guild to be perfect but can we at least have some liberties? I got yelled at for answering a question like I would have any other way! (EX: We're uhhhh reviewing! That's it reviewing! "Please don't reply with spams!") Or at least that's the gist of it. Kat I would take the guild from you but I don't have the gold or the patience to run it. I'd be happy to help though if it would make it any easier on you and Diana. I want the Serpents Cove back. I want to be able to come here and laugh and discuss things. Why not have discussions on our views on things in society vs a Gryffendor's POV? I know this guild is based on HP but we're runnign out of discussion topics and repeating will only make more people leave. I think we all need to help get this guild back to the greatness it once held! OK, that's it love all. -Christina-

I haven't been around lately, because of lack of internet and such, but I do agree that Diana is perhaps a wee bit out of hand, and I do plan to talk to her about it.
The constant off-topicness did get to the point where it annoyed me, but I most certainly preferred it to what we have now. I think what I really had a problem with were post with one or two words, or that didn't contribute anything. An intelligent off-topic conversation is better than an unimpressive on-topic conversation, would you agree?
Shadow: I do try to contribute to conversation, but I can't right now, and even before, when you and Finora would both post on every thread in the guild once or twice a day, that's hard to keep up with. Which I suppose may have precipitated the change, because I felt unable to properly moderate the huge amounts of conversation that were occuring. I do prefer that to 5 posts a day, though...
We can make this work, and if all of you will stick around for a bit longer, we can bring this back to a place people want to be.

In my previous rage, I had typed out a huge little thing, ranting about certain thing(s) that I thought was/were not contributing constructively to the guild. But, since then I have settled down and decided to reply with a more civil tongue.
My Thoughts on How the Guild Has Been Run Thus Far At first, I thought it was running beautifully. We were all excited, we were all active and we were all enjoying ourselves. This wasn't a strict place for only the older, more-scholarly types that wanted to have in-depth conversations and debates about certain things in the Harry Potter series. It was a place where a group of people of all ages got together to chat with fellow Harry Potter fans. In the past... while, I can't be quite sure how long, it has changed. What use to be fun and lax is now strict and uninteresting. I apologize, Havoc is right with her points. With the books over, what new topics do we have to discuss?
Suggestions For Improvement As in any group environment, a positive attitude is a must. If someone comes in with a negative attitude and starts ragging on people, than it doesn't become fun anymore. I'm not going to say names, because I don't think it's necessary. I honestly love you all, and I don't understand why there has been such a drastic change in how said person(s) have acted. They act completely normal in regular, everyday life but on the internet... Well, I don't need to elaborate. Basically, this guild just needs some TLC and what every guild needs. Active members.
Of course, I haven't been active for the past while, due to certain circumstances involving a branch hitting my house and school. But, I plan to do my best to be more active once again.
That's my two cents. Don't spend it all in one place.

Havoc: I'm sorry that you had a bad experience. That definitely shouldn't have happened, and if I had been around, I'd like to think that it would have happened differently. Also, I like the thread ideas. If you can think of anything in particular that you'd like to discuss, please start a thread about it. We're kinda suffering from a lack of threads just now. And I promise that the thread won't be locked unless it's stupid. Which it won't be.
Finora: Post as many rants as you'd like, we're all entitled to them sometimes. To be honest, I did at one point intend for this to be a place for in-depth discussion and debates. That never really turned out, though.
I can't really make a 'have a positive attitude' rule. I mean... ewww. But basic politeness, yeah, and general courtesy. That means don't mouth off to anyone on the threads. No matter your personal opions on something, be nice.
All of you. Whether you have mod powers or not.
Shadow: Nevermind, I'm going to PM you.
Diana: Post here. Seriously. Your opinion, whatever it may be, is very under-represented, and I don't want to ignore it, because you do have valid points. Specifically, I'd like to know your opions on the "intelligent off-topic conversation is better than an unimpressive on-topic conversation" debate.
Anyone who reads this and is not usually an active member: Your opinions are wanted, too!

And power-hungry Slytherin loved those of great ambition...|> ---|And now I'm kind of apprehensive.
Thanks for responding to all of our concerns. I think things are looking up again, which is great, and the fact that you were willing to read through our rants and respond politely and maturely is a very good sign.|--- <|Slytherin Pride!

So basically, past self, what I'm getting here is that you wanted to make a guild. And you liked the idea of being in charge. But then, like always, you gave Finn a bit too much power, and lord knows when the two of you got going you created a dual-superiority-complex the size of the moon. You still do. So you both went wild with power. And Finn also went wild with not likeing people.
But you forgot that the people here were real people who were sort of doing you a favour by being on your part of the internet. I mean, there's a whole internet out there, and you only controlled a wee bit of it.
And so the people got angry. And, I must say, you responded very maturely. Of course you did, your source of power was being threatened! You must be a benevolent overlord!
But it was too late. The damage had been done. And besides, gaia was already going out of style.
But you tried, past self. That means something. I'm proud of you.
