With the catastrophic war that ended civilization, many people were left with nothing: families dead, homes destroyed, and nothing left to rely on. Religions of the old world either became massively popular, or faded from history, their followers unable to maintain their faith in such an unforgiving world.
One religion, however, became immensely popular. Rooted in the old religion of Christianity, it spoke of a coming messiah: one who would put an end to the suffering of this world, and restore order to this chaotic land. Unafraid to fight for this ideal, the Church of Messiah grew into a poweful force of order, their armies constantly striving to bring stillness to the chaos of the new world.
In their Central Temple, the Pope commands them, supposedly recieving instructions from the coming messiah.
