Screw the fanfiction community. For real. Mostly in FF.net, but not only there.
"Fanfics*" that a three years old kid could write anytime get 1000+ reviews, while the good fics that are really worth reading get no reviews. I burn my brain out thinking of a good plotline, a good set of characters, action and comedy, I even go and rewrite the parts I think sucked... And what do I get? a ratio of one review per episode, with some exceptional cases.
Maybe it's because there's no hot guy on guy boinking anywhere in my fics. rolleyes
And, to top that, most of the reviews I get (95% of them) are "OMG RITE MOARRRRRRR!!!!!!!11111" comments that really don't help me at all. My ego keeps me writing, but my ego doesn't do a thing to correct spelling and grammar mistakes, or plotholes.
I think that's what they mean when they say art hurts. I bet if I put up my very first fic (piece of stupid crap full of Mary Sues and lame dialogue,) it'd get an instant five thousand reviews. "OMG U ROX RITE MOAR! MOAR RITIN!"
If I wrote for the ffic community, I would've quit a long time ago. But it's still irritating.
* This includes: Half-assed 99 anime shows crossovers, highschool AUs, Choose Your Own Adventure fics, you-fics, crackfics, pseudo-MSTs, rapefics, and bashfics... There's more kinds that need to die, but those are the main source of the lame.

-Fanfics are meant for clueless writer wannabes that have no creativity at all. If you ask me, your barking up the wrong tree. You should start writing a plot for your own manga instead of just altering other peoples, cuz youve got more talent than just to edit something. I mean just look at those idiots, what they write about, and i dont mean them all, there are good creative people who actually write something that isnt about naruto F**KING sasuke in the rear or whatever 8 yearold girls write to make themselves sound mature.
-So yeah, you know the saying "endless is the number of idiots" or something, im translating it from my motherlanguage not latin so yeah... -_-

I can see you've never read a good fanfic in your life. So, please, get informed before "barking at the wrong tree." All in all, your point of view is what the shitheads use as defense, "if I wanted to be a good writer I'd be writing my own stories." rolleyes
I'm one of those people who don't write mindless sex, true, but know what... I don't see the need to make up a whole new world when the existing ones are almost the same I would write about, and are fun to toy with. It's like videogames, why make your own videogame when there's plenty to mess with?
And kiddo... It's not eight years old girls. Guys and girls your age are those writing crap, those who grew out of the teenage years often get a clue and start writing well. There's few cases where teenagers can and do kick asses at fanfiction, but they're few and too sparse.
And... You never read my fics (just those crossovers I do for fun and laughs,) so, don't pair me up with the common fficers. It's part of my ranting, that those like me, who take time to expand an existing universe and improve it (that's quite subjective, but that was the goal of fanfiction at first, nowadays they call any s**t fanfiction so...) get almost no credit, since all the hormone-high teenagers will be drooling at the shitfests written by their pairs.
I've seen some old Sailor Moon fanfics that had more content and creativity in them than Rowling and Tolkien together, yet they had a very limited fanbase. It's sad, but nope, fanfiction, the real fanfiction, isn't for uncreative trolls. It's like WoW, ruined by the users.

Now this is something worth ranting for... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE IN FF.NET?! THEY DON'T KNOW A GOOD STORY WHEN THEY READ ONE!!!!!!! i mean, seriously... there are like good stories everywhere, and then they only get like... what?! 5 reviews for a chapter?! and that's only if they're lucky... HOW WOULD YOU FEEL LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE WORKED YOU'RE a** OFF TO WRITE THE BEST THING YOU CAN EVER AND THEN NOT BE APPRECIATED?! YOU'D FEEL LIKE USELESS CRAP, THAT'S WHAT YOU WOULD FEEL LIKE!!!! ok... uhm... so im just saying that we should read those stories that have not much reviews, not those HUMONGOUSLY many reviewed stories. Those people are too full of themselves... argh!!! DAMN THE LOT!!! They never reply back to you're messages, such as this girl, uhm... i will not mention the name, but my friend sent a pm to her, and then the girl never replied back. ITS SO DAMN ANNOYING!!! WHO IS SHE TO TREAT MY FRIEND LIKE CRAP?! I SO DAMN WANT TO KILL THE MOTHER ******** WRITER!!!
(note:very very very sorry to those people who have been offended by my swearing...)

Personally, I never reply to reviews unless they're asking something or making a very good point about something in my fic I could change (in fact my epic fic had thirty episodes rewritten thanks to a very constructive and detailed review,) because I'm personally not fond of the "OMG RITE MOAR!" reviews. I don't even count them in a review total for my fics, they're what I like to call dead weight.
In FF.net, the average's user idea of a good story is "OMG SASUKE FUX NARUTO/GAARA/OROCHIMARU/ROCK LEE/THAT DUDE IN EPISODE 5 I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE NAME OF!!!!!!111111"
And it's sad how canon/canon-implied straight pairings get a lot of flak. "Ewww, Sakura x Sasuke? U sick b***h! D: "

I know!! -le gasp- They need to shut up and consider our feelings for one. Two: They don't know how old we really are, so can they say "Use better grammar/ spelling etc.?" what if we're like 9 years old. I joined when I was 11, I never paid attention to English class. I didn't know you were supposed to start a new paragraph when a new person talks. WTF

-Well i get the same thing with drawing. On a forum i like to show off (meant for drawing and receiving C&C), i only expect crits on my works if my friends there are logged on or people i know. N00bs and newbies will either crit your work if your EXCELENT ("OMG U ROCK I LUV UR WORK"not quite a comment really) or if your EXTREMELY skillelss where every pro will come in and explain for half an hour how he/she should have done it, leaving us skilled but not good enough (hey im 15 get off my case) with a crit a update. I shut down my gallery 3 times cuz it got me angry. In any case, yeah, its not just fanfic, its everywhere, either youre a UBER N00B or youre the mega super ultra popular person that everyone knows and loves.

-Oh and about the "sasuke fux naruto/gaara..." well its the retardness of the whole teen population thats the fault there . I mean, they are stupid, ignorant and "americans" (no offence to good americans, there are them too, but mostly its the stereotype americans i run into) that watch too much tv and parent neglect. So screw them. SCREW THEM ALL.

I dont like just editing ideas and storylines and adding in my own, cuz its not the same. -I NEVER READ -ANY- REAL fanfic. Not just yours. dont go flaming on me. Not my fault that i prefer to make the whole concept myself. Sigh, i am not a shithead, i dont not hate fanfics, I do write, and i cant say im bad, just not fanfics. No need to flame me. -Well cuz my video game would PWN all the other ones? you know, its different to add a patch or a mod to a game and alter it, its different to make a engine itself. STOP FLAMING ME. -Well i dont really know any fanfiction, but anyone who i met that wrote stupid fanfiction was in fact something fitting a profile of a "8" yearold ( well thats 13 in america) ... please stop flaming me. -Who is pairing you with regular people anyway? xD trust me "95 % of people are crap, but its the other 5 % that make the world go round" ... youre flaming me, but i still count you into the 5 % ... and yeah i was in a rush when i wrote that... just listen, there are artistic people that can actually create something good, and there are trend seekers that just do it cuz its in. You are the first choice, and thats why i think you should think of a plot for a manga sometime. It cant really go bad... and you know enough about anime to know whats good and whats not. -Lol id say, I know, but i dont really know about fanfiction. In any case, just chill, forget about he n00bz and trollz, they arent really worth the time and stress. See, you even started flaming me cuz of them! (trying to pin the blame on someone else)... In any case, you have talent and your creative, so who cares about the talentless idiots? get over it ... Stupid attracts stupid, so yeah, i doubt that the retards that write stupid fanfic get many crits that actually help.

Wasn't flaming you. By shitheads I meant the herd that writes porn without taste (they call it porn without plot, but not even a plot would save them....) And I shouldn't have used videogames as example as making a videogame takes a lot of studies and hours of working. Making an original fiction work... Well, they are similar, yes.
Still, I have six years of private English school (of which I paid attention to most, as you can guess from my writing even in posts,) so it really nags me that people that can learn English for free, doesn't. It's quite apalling that someone off a "third world" country can literarily (yeah that's a word,) beat the s**t out of someone born, let's say, in England, at their own game.
As for creating a new world over adapting one... Playing by an already created universe's rules is harder than starting from zero, in some cases. In other cases, I see the potential some characters had that the original manga/anime writers never saw (Oh, Gohan, how did Toriyama f'k you through...)
But yeah, I do forget about the morons, what I'm tired of, is not getting enough concrit in my works. I know I still have to improve, but I've killed all the bugs I could on my own.

I write "you" fics. On quizilla, and I've got to say, Quizilla is the largest source of fail and aids on the internet today. Gah. I've turned from being a productive member into a flat-out troll. I just can't stand it.
I also can't understand why all the people that rit lyk dis about the same character I do get larger ratings and have enourmous fanbases. Ergh. And the small amount of fans I do have are off their rocker. I swear, I'm never making announcements on there again. "OMG UR Writting a one-shot Gaara lemon? In 2ND PERSON! OMG, hurry up u b***h, I wanna screw Gaara! lololol!!!111onoeneone"
Ugh.
I completely agree with you, but the truth is painful. Buttsecks sells, and that's why horrible authors attempt it.

IT'S JUST SO DAMN ANNOYING!!! they go off and then come back anonymously, and then flame you're story. thats so damn lame!!! right? i mean, look. my friend writes really good, but this guy reviewed her story, saying stuff like, 'i don't like you're story. if you're characters are going to go off character like that, at least have a good plot' that's what it said.
