I don't know how to help you without you being here in front of me because I hope the following helps a little. Maybe someone else can explain it because I can't right now. Maybe you should get a teacher to show you.... I can't explain how to do this. All I can tell you is that once you get it, it will really add to your music and make you sound so much better.
Heres some masterclass notes I found online:
Say "Ha" through the flute
You don't have to practice vibrato a lot.
Set a metronome, and have your vibrato start with quarter notes, then eights, triplets and finally the sixteenth notes

Set a metronome, and have your vibrato start with quarter notes, then eights, triplets and finally the sixteenth notes thats one way of doing it xD though, my teacher taught me to NOT do it in sixteenth notes. triplets vibrato is the best. you'll sound rushed if you do your vibrato in sixteenth. also, vibrato is not an essential part in playing the flute..its only to add a little bit of flavouring/color to your playing~ well thats my opinion xD xd

yeah, I agree with chocpowder on how vibrato is not the most important thing... make sure your tone is good first before you use vibrato... otherwise it doesn't sound as good... and a good tone is more important anyway...
and yes, 16th notes are a little fast for most peices... you may want a faster vibrato for a few peices but otherwise it will sound too nervous...

and of course, make sure the air comes from your diaphragm. Throaty vibrato sounds like a goat and is baaa-aad.

also, make sure you aren't moving when you play vibrato. I saw a girl in class the other day who was trying too hard to play vibrato and she was actually shaking her body..

it comes from your diaphram but i know some people that can make vibrado with their throat sound pretty good

It's hard to explain, but sort of pulsate the air...... razz Some people do it naturally. (I did) But at my school, vibrato IS a very important part of playing, and we might lose a chair place if we don't do it.

Lol. It's pretty easy. My band director gave us a page called the "Woo Woo" page. Every night for 5 minutes u say woo woo or was it who who same thing kind of. And u can't use ur throat or move ur jaw it has to come from ur gut or stomach muscles. And when ur on ur flute try not to shake ur flute to get it out that was my band partner's habit lol

i also forgot to say that u need to stay consistent of the "whos" don't take a breath after just 1 who and go on cause thats wrong.
