The leaves will still fall
Year after year
Counting down the seconds left
Till you return home

The winter will come
The snow will fall
And create its blanket of white
The serenity of life

Letters will come and go
First from afar
Then to you from home
Life will go on I know

The winter will melt away
New leaves will form
New grass will grow
Just as our hopes
For you to come home

The summer will come
Its bright sun warm
Its blue water cool
Full of memories of you

The years will pass
Far to slow
Full of letters from you
And letters from home
In due time
As the seasons change
You will come home
But nothing will be the same

The leaves will still fall
The snow will still be serine
To melt and yield new greens
The water under the summer moon
Will still hold old memories of you

As life does not stop
Or get put on pause
I know it goes on
No matter who's gone

So I will change
As each season does
And pray to God
To still receive letters from you
As I know you will change too
