Seeing as this is soon to be all the rage across Gaia, and I, personally, already thought the undead were about as cool as anything, I see no reason why we cannot discuss them.
Let's start off simply and go from there. What do you believe the laws of vampires are? What can they do, what can't they do, and how cand they be killed?
Spoonfed like in general discussion: Crosses Dogs Running water Sunlight Fire Decapitation Transformation (bats, wolves, mist, etc.) Half breeds Does being bit hurt? Or feel good? Or both?

Too bad we can't get checkboxes on Gaia polls... Wooden stake through the heart. That'll kill most things. Very, very traditional. I can't see why anyone would argue that wouldn't kill a vampire at this point. I think it may need to wood, though. Maybe it's because of the symbolic forcing of life into that without life, as trees are about as life-y as you can get. Maybe it's like why magic users tradionally had a wooden wand or staff, something used to drawing up sap and nurtients from the soil will be happy to draw power in the same way, I don't know. But I do think the stake needs to be at least partially wood. I suppose you could tip the end with metal for easy penatration, but it really needs to be wood. Anything through the heart. Professionals use silver, it's more durable than wood. Silver is a werewolf thing. Vampires and werewolves are like sardines and babelfish. No good shall come of mixing the two up. Yeah, a wooden stake, but make sure it's thick enough. Pencil-thin ones won't penetrate. I think alot depends on how sharp the stake is. The stakes my avi has now are tipped with metal for easy penation, but I think it's really the wood that kills them. Chop off the head. That's all. This I don't like. I'm not sure why I think it's dumb. The best I can think is that they aren't the Highlander, for gods' sake, but that doesn't really explain. Maybe it's just because it smells like it was made up for more dramatic moive sequences, but it irks me to no end. If you're going to chop off the head, you have to stuff it's mouth with garlic, bury the head at a crossroads, burn the body, and throw the ashes in a river going west. I like this. I've heard it several times, and it just makes sense to me somehow. It reminds me of cleansing and exorisisms. Throw it out into the sunlight. I've heard two ways about this, and they could actually fit together. One, that sunlight turns them into dust, and two, that sunlight turns them into mortals. Now, a five hundred year old mortal would probably look alot like a pile of dust. But I don't like the way they handled it in "Twilight." The vampires there were way too powerful. And whiny. "I'm going to sulk because I live forever with my awesome family, I'm beautiful, if I go into sunlight I sparkle like a diamond, and I emit sexy rays." Feed it communion wafers. I liked the way they handled this in The Dracula Tape, that crosses and communion wafers had a pyshosymptonmatic responce. If they believed that holiness would hurt them, then it did. Another way of looking at the crosses that I liked was in Dracula 2000, where crosses only effected Dracula, and they replused him, because of his personal relationship with Jesus. This new way of looking at the cross/vampire relationship was perhaps the best part of that moive.

A lot of the methods sound like they'd work, though the question is whether or not they could actually be implemented. A wooden stake (or that of another material perhaps) would kill just about anything if you impale a vital organ (especially the heart), but could you actually move fast enough to get'em with it?
Hm...first post stuff...
Crosses are a religious thing more than anything. Though I can imagine a vampire would probably be at lest somewhat scared of a cross-shaped sword if it's in the hands of an expert.
Dogs? What? Where did this one come from, out of curiosity?
I think the running water thing is actually a variation of lifeforce-sucking rather than blood-sucking vampire from Chinese legends, which I forget the name of. And it's an interesting idea.
Sunlight? It really depends where you are asking. Gaian vampires don't seem to be particularly susceptible to it, though. I suppose the version that'd make the most sense would be if they were just particularly easy to sunburn, not just spontaneously combusting on contact.
Fire/decapitation. Isn't that usually more of a zombie thing? Nevertheless, I think they'd be effective. Ashes can't move, and a headless vampire would die of starvation even if he/she survived initially (like a cockroach)
The transformation thing sounds really cool. It looks like it's going to come into play in the storyline here, if what's-his-name-with-silver-hair is any indication. Though I read somewhere that theoretically they could have any of a variety of familiars, which would also be the same sort of form they themselves could transform into. If Rufus's imitation of Ian when he punched Jeebs and when he was shot is any indication, I think we have one with a non-bat/wolf form on our hands...
Half breeds? Interesting idea. I say yes, though depending upon source they could be vampires, humans, or something in between. Other sources say that vampires either can't reproduce or only with other vampires. But Lady Van Helson didn't seem to be a vampire, though the children seemed to be either vampires or hybrids, so I say yes on Gaia.
And I don't think I'd want to know how being bit would feel. Someone else answer that one.
Damn... wall of text. Sorry...

Dogs came from Dracula. They were what he was referring to by "creatures of the night". He could command them, but they hated him and resented him for it. I'm not sure if that's all vampires or just Dracula, though. Oh, yeah, the chinese vampire! I forget what that's called too. I was pretty sure it was connected to western vampires in someway... I should ask Willow. Willow'd know. I should think that being bitten would be pleasurable, even if there is pain invovled. In most televison vampires, at least, (Buffy, Forever Knight), and some recent moives, look at the faces of vampire victims as they're being fed upon. They don't exactly look like they're about to tell the vampire they should just stay friends. There is probably something in the saliva. It might numb the skin so that breaking it hurts less, or paralyse the victim so they can't run. Vampires usually have, for lack of a better term, sexy-vibes, so the feeding upon being pleasurable would make sense as part of what they do. My goodness, I think I'm blushing.

Dogs came from Dracula? ...Oh, right, sorry. Forgot about that. I think it's just a Dracula thing, not a vampire thing. Maybe a variation on the vampire familars? Hm...
I wish I could remember what Chinese vampires were called, but the only time I heard anything even remotely in-depth on them, it was probably a bit altered because it was part of a TV-show's plot. Which show was that again...?
It wouldn't particularly surprise me if a vampire bite was pleasurable, at least to some degree. Sexy-vibes? ...If they can be transmitted via internet, that'd totally explain the growing number of Louie fangirls. *sighs* It's getting a bit out of hand, I think.

Alexander Shaw First... determine if the vampire needs killing. Obviously. I mean, who besides his (insane with the possible exception of Louie) family would go after Ian with the intent to harm or kill him? Aside from Gino in a fit of jealousy, of course. And he'd probably aim to mutilate, not kill. ...Poor, poor Ian. Someone needs to try to slay... what's-his-name, Vladmir's underling. I'd bet you large quantities of Gaia gold and bragging rights that he was the sniper who shot Gambino in addition to Ian. Though I wonder whether he can safely go out in sunlight or if he was using that cloak as a portable sunshield. And Vladmir. Someone needs to go after him, too. Just... nobody try to slay Ian (or probably Louie, either), okay?

Thank you. It's implied that he was the one who shot Ian, and it initially looked like both he and Gambino were shot by the same person, so why not?
But I'm really curious as to whether or not Lady Von Helson was a vampire. I don't think so, but it's possible. There are also people who think she was a Gambino, whic would certainly explain why Johnny Gambino seems to feel a certain amount of responsibility for Ian even though they don't seem to like each other much...

Hm... but regardless of Lady Von Helson's family, it still doesn't entirely explain how Ian currently has blonde hair when it was dark brown or so in the flashback. I mean, sure he could have dyed it, but what if it has something to do with the plot?
Like... what exactly is the purpose of Ian's treatments? Theoretically, they should surpress vampirism, but how do they go about doing that? What if they're some sort of temporary variation on the G-virus? Gambino mentions working on whatever it is for a while, and the purpose of the virus is obviously not to create zombies... What if it's some variation of G-virus designed to allow someone else's genes to manifest partly in order to surpress vampirism?
Even though it's apparently doing that right, maybe such a treatment would have side effects like altered pigment in hair and eyes (brown instead of the blue like his relatives visible in one of the panels) more closely matching that of whoever the donor is? In that case, who's the donor? Some cells saved from his mother after her death? Then why isn't he a zombie? Liam (would explain the somewhat resemblance between them)? One of the Gambino's even? Hm...
