Since no one's yet really posted how the concerts have gone, I decided to write one up for your guys right now. Buuni'll probably add stuff and correct me later on, lol.
FIRST OFF, I AM SO SORRY, HUNTAHH. The 9:30 club would NOT allow cameras inside (despite the fact that they usually do...I'm told that it was at the performer's request, which makes me even more depressed,) so the only pictures we got were some shitty cell phone ones. I didn't even try to record it, since I knew that the quality would be absolutely horrid.
Buuni's and my quest to see Blaqk Audio live started off a full twelve hours before the concert began. We both live in North Carolina, so there was a considerable amount of distance that had to be covered for us to get to Washington, D.C. that night.
So we drove. And drove. And drove.
But that part's boring, so let's skip it.
Eventually, around 3:30, we reached my aunt and uncle's house. They just so happen to live about forty minutes out of the city and were kind enough to let us bunk there for the night. Went in, made small talk, and Buuni and I put on our club-gear.
(Just in case anyone was curious, that consisted of me wearing dark, dark jeans, my BA shirt, converses and a green jean jacket, and Buuni wearing her Cure shirt, purple jeans (like Jade's, lol) and mint-green Converses. She then spent twenty minutes agonizing about how her outfit looked "too well put-together," so feel free to tease her about that.)
We then went out to dinner. Again, nothing exciting, although my sub was way off too salty and I went temporarily vegetarian so that Buuni could eat some of it.
FINALLY, at about 6:40, we reached the Metro. We met four very nice people on there who were going to the Blaqk Audio just like us. This was incredibly convenient, since we had almost no idea where we were going, and they were actually from D.C, so they did. We collectively agonized over the fact that we didn't arrive at the 9:30 club until about 8PM, and since the doors opened at seven, we might miss some of the BA concert.
As it turns out, we were still an hour early. The concert didn't start until 9PM. Lucky us.
So, we reach the club, get our hands stamped in under-21 blue ink so we can't order alcohol, have our cameras taken away (;LKJFDSA;JAFDS!!!) and enter. We had pretty nice spots on the floor, front and center, though about eight rows of people back. You could still see the stage.
It was pretty obvious that the club-goers were predominantly AFI and Blaqk Audio fans, but I think that just made it more fun.
At about five minutes to nine, Smith walks on-stage, probably to do some last minute tech work or something. I don't know. Right after that, Davey and Jade came out.
Davey was wearing a rather pretty white suit with black accents, and a silk tie with skulls on it, which, according to the nice girl behind me, cost about $200. Jade was wearing an all-black suit that looked almost exactly like his stage outfit from the STS era, except with a white tie instead of a pink one. Both men ended up shedding their suit jackets rather quickly; it was extremely hot in the club once they started performing. Davey also gave his orange glow-stick bracelet to someone in the front.
Nothing can really describe how I felt about seeing them perform live. This was my first BA/AFI concert ever, so I was a little skeptical about what it would be like, but it ended up living up to my every expectation. I think the thing that surprised me most was that Davey and Jade looked in real life EXACTLY the way they look in magazines and such. I guess it was a little disconcerting to see that these people, who I had previously only seen secondhandedly on the TV and in articles, were actually real.
We jumped. We screamed. We sang the words right alongside Davey. We danced, despite the fact that each person had roughly four inches of space to work with. It was intense, it was hot, but it was real. You could feel the crowd's excitement, and I felt no misgivings about being as open about my love for this band as I wanted to be, because everyone else was doing just the same.
As an aside, IMO, anyone who thinks that Davey acts like a woman has never seen him perform live. I don't care how often he pranced around that stage, he absolutely oozes masculinity while doing so.
There was no mosh pit, surprisingly. One rather idiotic guy tried to start one up RIGHT BEHIND US, and the same girl who informed me of the price of Davey's scarf kicked his a**. Literally. He stopped after that.
I don't remember the exact order of the set list (Buuni'll have it,) but they played every single song off of the album except for Mute and The Fear of Being Found. That includes Girls and Boys, which I think was my favorite song out of all of them, if only because Jade grabbed a mike and left his keyboards to duet with Davey. It also means that The Love Letter's track has been fixed. They didn't start off with Stiff Kittens, though. That was actually their last song.
OH. OHHH. Buuni just reminded me that they also played the music video for Stiff Kittens during the song itself. I think she's commenting about it right now, though, so you can probably just read the next post and see what it was like.
We couldn't stick around to see if Davey and Jade would come out after the show, since we were staying at my aunt and uncle's house, but we did see Smith and Fritch. We also talked to a very nice DFer, who mentioned that she'd be interviewing Davey and Jade next week on her (college) radio show, so stay tuned.
All in all, it was an amazing concert. If anyone really wants them, I'll try to upload my crappy cell phone pictures.
Would I do it all over again?
Hell yes.
Hopefully this doesn't count as "bragging rights". Ahaha.

The set-list went something like this--
Again, Again, and Again On A Friday [Duet] Between Breaths Where Would You Like Them Left? Cities of Night Snuff on Digital Bitter For Sweet Girls and Boys [Duet] The Love Letter Semiotic Love Wake Up, Open The Door, and Escape to the Sea Stiff Kittens.
And also we saw clips of Stiff Kittens music video. OH. MY. GOD. The most unique Marc Webb video I'd ever seen! . . .It looks. . .just so different.
It looks. . .unbelievable.

I am so ******** depressed.
On Saturday around noon my friend, who I was going to go with, calls and is like, "I have work tomorrow so I can't go. -click-" I'm just starting at the wall, mouth open, listening to the dial tone. She knew how important going to this concert was to me. I'm like, "can't you find someone to replace you? ToT" I try calling two other friends, one of which I've only met once, and they can't go. So now I'm, "I am not going to this concert alone!" So I just stayed home and played my iPod. Even went to bed with it. Woke up this morning and the battery was dead... but oh well.
But I'm glad you guys had fun. Maybe someday, by some miracle, either AFI or Blaqk Audio will come back to DC... or maybe even Baltimore. <3

I was supposed to go...I even had permission to go....but no way to get there. (well, I had ways to get there, but mom wouldn't let me do any of them) But anyways, I'll save my bitching for some other time.
I'm glad the ones who did get to go had fun!!! Maybe I'll catch them on their next tour.

I was there too! That was an amazing show. I was like 3 ft from the stage as well. As soon as Davey walked out onstage I LOST it. I started shaking like hell and was that way the whole time. I also recall Davey pointing to me during between breaths and me nearly dropping dead. (: Ill try to upload some of my pics too, even though they're horrid cause those camera-stealing guys were about 2 ft away.
