Anyone been to one? What are they like? My 10 yr (we didn't have a 5 yr reunion) is coming up in November and I don't know what to expect.
There is no dress code, other than "Clothing is not optional". What have others experianced? Do you show off your success, or go incognito?
Hmm...

I haven't gone to mine, but I'm kind of looking forward to mine because I'll have a masters at the least by the time it comes around, so I can laugh at people ( on top of showing people that if you work hard enough at it, relationships can last past high school) xd

I went to my 10-year reunion. Expect people to be pretty much the same as they were in high school, but slightly mellower and more accepting. From what I hear, it gets a bit better every 10 years.

I would dress normal like you were just going to the mall or something. Maybe go rent a Dodge Viper or something for a day too. wink

Yeah.. I dunno, I had a lot of friends. I was kind of the person who got along with everyone, but kept my distance. I didn't hang with one crowd.
Figure I will just dress "trendy" but not "dressy". Got the car no prob.. have an 07' BMW750 Li or.... I could take my 88 Monte Carlo SS that is mint - completely re-done and gorgeous. My "impractical car". I guess since people are so materialistic, I should take the bimmer. blaugh
Hope my bf goes.. he is 10 years older than me and might feel out of place. Idunno... It will probably be boring with a bunch of people "posing" to be something they are not in hopes of impressing others.
Ha.. I got them all beat, because I saw just about every guy in my graduating class turn 21 because I was a dancer at a strip club. Haha.. I think I clearly remember ALL of their faces. rofl

High school reunions are lame. Everyone is the same, but fatter. The losers try desperately to prove that they are no longer losers. The popular kids just drink, even though drinking isn't so cool now that you're all legal. Everyone else in the middle of the spectrum just sits around sipping their drinks watching the sad sad show.
Unless you have some old friends who you really want to see again, it's not worth the effort.

Nah.. the only reason why I really want to go is because my VERY best friend just happened to tell me 4 years out of school that she was Bi. Now, I am not, BUT - I was like - we slept in the same bed, what's wrong? I'm not hot enough for you?? lol.. so she promised to point out all of the girls we went to school with that umm.. became notches on her bedpost at our first HS Reunion. Curiousity - she said that there were some real atypical ones that I would never guess... That and I wasn't her type... she likes them short and stubby. Rule out the BasketBall team!
Other than that, I don't really want to go.. I have nothing to prove other than I am still alive... that and that I am no longer the hippy chick tree hugging vegatarian that I was. haha..
Besides, it is at a brewery and I hate beer. I'm sure they can make good martinis, but I don't even like to drink that much and would probably feel lame.. like to "Old, grown up mature one at age 28".. yikes..

We had a 5 year but I couldn't go. I heard it was pretty casual. They had it at a park. I think that maybe half of my class went. My 10 year is coming up in a few years and I don't know if I will be able to make it since I live so far away. If they made it more of an event I might go.
You'll have to tell us how it goes.

I doubt I will go to any of my high school reunions, unless im extremely bored... I just see no point since high school wasn't that interesting to me.

I doubt I'd go to a high school reunion. I was in the International Baccalaureate Program, which is an honors in which you earn an additional degree and certificates (that were good for college credit).
The reason I point that out is that by senior year, there is probably only 40 students who are really in the same program as you are, and so you see the same 40 people all year long.
And I am still in contact with MOST of the people I actually liked, so it would probably be a waste of time because hardly anyone would show up anyways.

i would love to attend one altho i still havent been informed by my former classmates or friends way back in gradeschool. our batch president when i was in 4th year highschool did notify me last year about his plan to have a reunion for our batch but i never heard from him again after that. LOL
If u have long lost close friends that u know will come, then u can come but if u think it's just boring then u always have the option not to attend.

I didn't go to mine last year (um Dec 06....more like 2 years ago now??) I was too busy writing my Master's Thesis cause it was due right after New Years.
Also none of my circle of friends were going to the reunion so I didn't see any reason to see my classmates.

I missed my 10yr. as I had to work, but I was told that a lotta people were asking about me, including some of the folks I remembered as being less than nice to me, odd that a mere decade could shift me from "looser" in some eyes to "interesting / remembered I guess I'll see what the 20 has to offer, as it should be in just a couple years"

Unless my five friends from high school are going, I´m not going to bother. I´m going to try and just get my five friends to meet up somewhere and have our own little reunion... I really don´t care to see anyone else I graduated with again. I graduated with a class of 700 people, so yeah... I didn´t even know 1/20th of them.
