Ok, so basically you can be anyone you want start out with any weapon you want, and you get it upgraded as you join factions, umbrella controls most of the towns and cities, they have power suites, and then the zombies control the rest, your job is to eradicate both from the island you are on...
You start in you faction base... The factions:
Anti-Umbrella Force
Zombie Hunting League
Planetary Defense Force
Umbrella Demolition Force
T-Virus Eradication Squad
Pick one or be a contract civilian... but you can only go through the main story with one of those factions, that means you can take contracts from them like a mercenary and go through the story line...

You start out at the top of the valley in a bunker with 3 other people, the window of the bunker is in the middle of a cliff and you can see a big city below, every now and then an explosion occurs...

You see a rather large, approximately 10' tall man shooting down the hall way with a pistol that looks like the barrel could swallow your head whole, in full power armor.
He says "You Minsova?" in a vox muffled voice.

"Just holding the stairs," he says, "I have a contract for you, should you accept, the reward is 1000 credits, and some reinforced metal mesh for under your shirt." You also notice he has an extremely large sword and 2 tanks on his back and 2 nozzles attached to his wrist with hoses going to the tanks.

"hmm sorry bub i don't really need credits in this world were living in now but the mesh might be worth it i would like to see it if i can and can i inquire as what the tanks and hoses are for some kind of flame thrower?"

Mission: Retrieve data slate and hard drive from the umbrella mainframe.
Recon: Suggests that the umbrella site is still active, though no umbrella members have been encountered, several umbrella creations have been sited and there are also reports of zombies, lickers, and even a possible Nemesis in the outpost.
You find a watch, a booklet, card key, and PDA taped to the end of the scroll.
