The Energon drive is a power generator capable of making immense amounds of energy. Basically, it opens a portal to an alternate, higher energy universe, and steals the energy from there. the amount of energy gainedat one time depends on the size of the Energon drive. Humans discovered the Energon drive on accident while expirementing with a new way to make warp drives, hence it's name of Energon drive. while the portal will not allow solid matter to travel through it, it will create a portable 'energy tap' allowing for effectively limitless run time. The power gained from the energon drive also has the uncanny ability to make the current-gen warp drives run faster and more effeciently, as it is such a pure form of energy.

Detail -
The Solaris Cannon fires a charged matter which has been condensed to form a beam.
The beam is formed when the matter is sent along a tube surrounded by electromagnets.
The electromagnets charge the matter, and keep it within the tube - forming the beam.
Once the matter has reached a critical point of density it retains it's shape to the the electrostatic attractions of all the particles.
When the beam hits a charged object e.g. a small ship, the electostatic forces are disrupted, causing the beam to disperse.
The dispersal releases huge amounts of energy - which is what gives Solaris Cannons their high destructive nature.
Due to the amount of power needed for the electromagnets - very few ships are equipped with Solaris Cannons.
Currently the only fully operational ship in the Terran fleet equipped with Solaris Cannons is The Battle Hymn.
Ammuntions
Solaris Cannons require an input of matter meeting strict specifications - as a result - the ammunition is manufactured by replicators which have been modified to produce the volumes needed in one go.
Other notes -
It is supected that the main Demonix gun works on the same basic principles as a Solaris Cannon, using magnetic fields to charge and shape matter, however, this has not been confirmed.

Range: 93,000 miles
Damage: Extremely Heavy. Destroys almost everything in its path. Vessels just outside of this radius may be destroyed or damaged by the leakage of the beam.
Rate of Fire:The Solaris cannons must be charged before firing. this charging process takes approximately seven minutes.
Payload: Effectively Unlimited. Will function so long as the ship provides power
Notes: Shields must be down for this cannon to fire.

The S.S.W.D.D was made to assist in the trouble shooting of star ship weapons systems. It can also be used for the calibration and use of weapons by remote to some extent. It comes with a sophisticated on board computer and tactical heads up display in the form of a holographic eye piece and an assistance program.
===== 2. History and Background =====
An unnamed StarShip Weapon Specialist was credited for the idea of the device. It was made to relieve some of the stress that comes with working with advanced weapon systems. Some problems would require hours of testing to correctly trouble shoot and diagnose the problem, and in a fire fight, weapon specialists do not have the liberty of time. The device was built and tested around 9 P.T but was not main streamed until 11 P.T. Now today it is part of Weapon Specialist's gear. Weapon Specialists are trained in the proper usage of the device and are familiarized with it early in their training.

On board computer interface: The S.S.W.D.D comes with a sophisticated on board computer interface which can 'speak' to the operator of the device and can assist him in many ways. It is not true A.I but rather uses complex algorithms to generate text. It can interface with other devices as well making it useful in almost any situation. It is capable of having small conversations with the user, but is not capable of showing any emotions or feelings.
Holographic eyepiece and earpiece: The S.S.W.D.D also is equipped with a corresponding holographic eye piece. Some information can be set to be displayed on the visor rather than on the screen itself to save space. The device also comes with a built in earpiece and microphone to allow communication with the device's computer interface.
===== 6. Design Specifications =====
The device is built on a sturdy but light weight metal frame which houses the internal components. The bulk of the device is taken up by a large touch screen. There is a small slot on the right side that holds the eye piece when not in use. It has rubber grips on both sides of the device to ensure that it does not slip and fall when in use.
