VOA NewsVOA News" Kathy Griffin had a few words to say about her September 8 creative arts Emmy win - but viewers at home won't get to hear them. The E! Channel will reportedly censor the comedian's raucous acceptance speech when it airs the event on September 15. The Fox Channel airs the main prime-time Emmy Awards ceremony the following night. "Kathy Griffin's offensive remarks will not be part of the E! telecast on Saturday night," the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said in a September 10 statement. In her speech, Griffin said that "a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus." She went on to hold up her Emmy, make an off-color remark about Christ and proclaim "this award is my god now!" Catholic League President Bill Donohue condemned the remarks on September 10, calling them a "vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech." The TV Academy and E! say the four-hour ceremony will be cut to two hours, with Griffin's remarks shown in "an abbreviated version." Kathy Griffin's publicist did not immediately return requests for comment left Monday evening. The academy said Monday it has no plans to address the issue in the prime-time broadcast. The 46-year-old Griffin earned her first creative arts Emmy for the second season of her reality TV series "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List." So what's you're opinion about her comments? Personally, I don't give a piece of ---- either way, but I would to hear the opinions of my fellow Roman Catholic Christians in the guild.

No offence, but I have no idea who she is, and she's made herself sound like a tool. I don't really think many non-Christians would really be impressed by it, either. Yes, it is shocking, and it will be talked about, but in the end she sounds like a bit of a muttonhead. If she's that much into herself, which she has made herself sound, she's done a pretty stupid thing by playing the faux rebellious card, because she runs the risk of no one bothering to watch her show. In other words: what a strange little woman.

I'm not surprised. Unfortunately the entertainment industry is rife with individuals who hold similar views. In some ways her response is almost preferable to the fake, impious, grandstanding glory to the Lord that many celebrities profess.
Should we as Catholics object, as the Catholic League has? By all means!! Blasphemy is a grave evil and we need to fight it, defend the Holy Name, and pray for reparation.

I...honestly don't care. She's a comedian, and like many comedian, her humour tends to be pretty vulgar and (to some) offensive. Maybe an awards ceremony wasn't the most appropriate place to make a comment like that, but eh.
EDIT: How did I manage to mistype "comedian" the same way twice?

I think that what she said was pretty offensive. I mean, does she have to stoop low enough to insult another religion?
Now I KNOW she is no comedian, but rather, a total *insert vulgar word to describe her here.* stressed

nothing new to me, i've heard crap like that before, in all sorts of ways, and really it could be hurtful, or aggravating, or unimaginably upsetting, but honestly these people don't know what they're doing, and these are the kinds of people that need our prayers most, someone like that can't be talked to, but God can help her without talking to her, so all we need to do is pray...not that every person we pray for will be saved, but we have to try, because none of us can tell whether any person could be saved or not, that's not our job anyways, our job is to just do what God tells us, He says to love our neighbor...He doesn't say "only love you're catholic neighbors" or "only love the ones that are nice to you" He puts it plain and simple, no exceptions, no loop holes, and of course it's not easy, but i think that's the point, things in life are hard, even life itself is hard, for a good reason, it's hard so we can prove our love for God, if we do something we don't want to do for someone we love, that proves our love, to just say "i love you" is never enough, would a husband be doing enough for his wife just by telling her he loves her, but never doing anything nice for her? never taking her out or fixing things in the house or buying her gifts?
it's not about whether we love God or not, it's about what we're willing to to for Him, it's showing Him how much we love Him,
i know it seems like i started rambling on, but i have a point here, and my point is, no matter who someone is, or what they do, or what they say or believe, we should all be kind and loving to every person, of course there are times when it's right to be angry, but most of the time we need to worry about being a good example, and i know at first it's hard because you think to yourself "what do i do, how should i be?" but after awhile when you've practiced and you know what to do and how to be, then thats the easy part, and then the hard part- is making yourself do it and resisting what you know you shouldn't do,
the idea behind being a good example is showing people something that they would like to be, if we get angry or hurt or frustrated in front of these bad people, then what will they do? they'll laugh, or feel better then you, they'll feel that they are right and they have you where they want you, but if you act kind and patient and loving with them, then they may become curious...maybe not everyone, but even if in all you're life you only convert one person, then that is well worth all the effort you put into it, and above all, the main reason we should all live that way, is to please God, and everything we do we should do to please God, we should always be asking ourselves in every situation, "what would God want me to do? what would please Him most?"
...well ok that's all...i could say more but...i'm not sure anyone would read it :B and btw, that little speech there wasn't directed at anyone, i was just inspired by the topic, that's all.
