Well, since the 4th grade, I've always wanted to build a robot of some kind. Not some high-tech marvel like Sony's AIBO or the Honda bi-ped, but something that would be cool to work with. But during all these years, each time I tried starting, one of two things would happen. First would be: my parents thought it would be a waste, or second, didn't have the money.
Now that I'm older and bringing some of my own cash in, the dream that has eluded me for over 10 years is within my reach. I just bought the first piece today, a high speed gear box. But I still need many more pieces like a second gear box, some wheels or tank trends, a small piece of plastic, something as lone as the game boy advance, but a little wider, wiring, a battery pack, and some switches. It'll be controlled via a wired controller until I can get a microprocessor.
I'll be posting a concept sketch of it within the next day or so. So if anyone's interested, feel free to pm me about it.

Well considering iv'e already done this with a team I must say it's worth it. Altho all I did was build an underwater ROV which 2 years my school came 5th in the world and last year 3rd provisionally(cause a team in front of us cheated.)(they really did cheat to.) but even if it's just that you should it's fun...

None of my schools were cool enough to have a team like that. They were more concerned with football than anything else, and even with the small amount of people that were interested in robotics, none of them wanted to help form a private club about it.
