It’s the devil from the NES game, Devil World! He points to one side then... Here’s an Assist Trophy that throws common sense out the window. I mean, he’s not assisting at all! He could send you anywere.

The devil isn't as annoying as I though. He usually keeps a good half of the stage on screen, unlike in the picture. And he isn't by any means common. I've only seen him two or three times throughout all of the assist trophies thrown.
